This is the 30s. They would literally crack your skull if you gave them the slightest excuse. Sorry, not feeling this game.
It would have been safe and quiet on the streets within the countries at the time. The new governments got rid of the anarcho-tyranny (which was the reason the people turned to them). As of the first hour or so...game looks good, apart from Baker's overly-deadpan delivery the voices are decent, the non-story is inoffensive, the stealth mechanics are basic but probably the most 'sophisticated' we've seen in several years, it isn't crashing and game mechanics seem to work properly*, and there's even hints of "give a shit" in the details like reloading only as many bullets as were fired from the revolver. For a cash-grab movie tie-in I'm actually rather pleasantly surprised by what I'm seeing. The level design/layout, gameplay 'loop', and writing are the weak spots. It very much seems like they licensed someone else's competently-designed game, and modded it into an Indie Adventure on a shoestring budget. Admittedly, very much what I'd expect for a movie tie-in game. *1:56:00 notwithstanding; yeah the AI busted, but I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to piss off the entire Italian Polizei at the same time, lol. Game AI was doing pretty well, considering.
It's a solid 8. I'd best describe it as a game out of it's time that makes use of modern tech. I'm not sure it's tbe big win MS and Xbox were hoping for and i don't see it appealing to a ton of tbe younger folks, but for those old enough to grow up appreciating the first three Indy movies, this game is right up the alley.
There are takedowns but you have to be holding weapons wrench, hammer etc it doesnt work with bottles . But so far in my playthrough ive been enjoying it there isn't any dei so far so I dont know what people are complaining about. My main issues are not being able to turn off hints and i don't like the blue vignetting when crouching
@jonmartin9732 yes, yes I have. And the movies have various different action set pieces. Indy going through traps, brawls like the ones with Pat Roach, shoot outs, chase scenes and there's so far been no break in the gameplay to have anything except sneaking around and some Fist fights. Have you seen the movies? Indy was never the most stealthy character.
I don't get bored of anything. I got addicted till, like many, progress was ended by a bug/s - there's several points where people are stuck. That said, the game is below average and feels ancient. I was stuck on 55h close to getting all achievements, apart from getting the 1000 notes, or whatever it is.
Very dated (not open world, mostly a barrier maze) - the FPS is much worse than Wolfenstein. They probably added it last minute because 3rd person was too technical. Half-Life 2 from 20 years ago is levels above IJatGC. Puzzles are simple unless just confusing for non-puzzle reasons. No OST music is a disgrace and corporate greed (3:34:38 doesn't count, it's all you get, and rare). Bug-ridden - I couldn't progress right near the end, again corporate greed using you as free testers (do not report bugs or you're part of the problem!). A true "10! Masterpiece" needs to be far more ambitious - nowhere near as much variety (or slickness) as GTAV (360, 2013), MG's obviously leagues beneath Rockstar's level. And some claim AC Odyssey wasn't great, yet this is? 3rd person, open world, with online modes, the John Williams OST music, a motorbike and sidecar, trucks, camels, a fast/nimble boat, and a biplane, and it could be the claimed 9 or 10/10 masterpiece. But IJatGC is a 6/10, 7 at most.
“You are without doubt the worst adventurer I’ve ever heard of” In all seriousness though, games great if you actually take the time to read, listen, and play it. It’s a miracle you’ve stumbled through it as successfully as you have m8! Albeit great fun to watch🤣 The chick is pointless and annoying but I’d gamble they’ve toned it down. She’s not gotten in the way so far. (I’m in Egypt) you’re absolutely right that if this was not Indiana jones then no one would care but I’m shocked and impressed that a modern game is this good. The mild clunkyness almost feels like an intentional throwback to emperor’s tomb or something. Maybe I’m being too generous. Anyhow, hoping to see more on it and hail the fellowship. Oh and FNT ain’t the same without ya. Cheers!
Great? It'd be good 20 years ago, but the gameplay would still be poor. Siam is the best area, but still an old-school barrier maze, fake open world, which just makes you realise how poor the game is. No OST music is disgusting. The woman isn't even as "annoying" as the ones from the films - it always had the strong women. The puzzles are either simple or confusing inadvertently. And some claim AC Odyssey wasn't great. Absolute bug-fest too - many can't even finish it due to corporate greed not paying for testers. Yet people are patting MG/Bethesda on the back with BS reviews.
It looks boring. Where's all the action? Why would you make an Indiana Jones game a stealth game? He never really sneaks around that much during the movies.
@ManHamOrigins not really and when he does, it's to lead into an action set piece because he accidentally set off a trap or alerted his enemies to his presence.

This isn't the 'Modern Audience' period where police have sensibility training to ensure that all violent people resisting arrest have their FeeFees coated in sweet smelling glitter at all times. This is the 30s. They would literally crack your skull if you gave them the slightest excuse.
Sorry, not feeling this game.
It would have been safe and quiet on the streets within the countries at the time. The new governments got rid of the anarcho-tyranny (which was the reason the people turned to them). We're still in that period in all western countries, where the marxist governments are using violent foreigners and "subversive" activist groups to create chaos and division, and justify power grabs and abuse of the citizens by the government.
Is this new Snape (if true) going to be the defense against the dark arts master?
Oh Az! Your Indy must be Scouse. He has to steal everything that's not nailed down and is too stupid to stop even when somebody is watching.
The settings are nice. The character models look wonky to me, especially the eyes. The only egregious wokeness I see so far is how they label all the people "Fascist" in Italy, which seems silly. "Man" or "Soldier" would make more sense.
Yes, though given it takes place in Italy in the late 30s, at least they've finally used the label 'fascist" appropriately.
Two word: Il Duce
@@Beuwen_The_Dragon But at the time they would have been referred to as enemy soldiers or guards, just like the Germans or Japanese would have, not blanketed with the term fascist
@@lemmac7973 I wonder what happens when you come across a soldier who is "Outwardly Fascist but Privately Has Pro-Democracy Leanings"? Can you still punch him?
The game looks good, but because of Sweet Baby Inc's involvement, I'm very wary.
Even without the DEI/Bridge bullshit, it looks boring.
3 hours without a girlboss.... something tells me they added a lot of extra gameplay to the prologue to keep people playing. Also, all this sneaking around Italy feels like they were cribbing from Assassin's Creed.
Or maybe just maybe… there is nothing like that at all in it,
Do I have to change my review? Side Scrollers only talked about Halo which was pretty entertaining, but skipped the hard news on that one! Let us find out Az will know!
Im not normally one to care about graphics... but when youre going shot for shot of a classic movie and the movie looks gorgeous it really makes this game look like shit.
It really doesn’t. The game looks pretty good graphically.
@@rafterman5072 Maybe it's due to UA-cam compression but it really doesn't look great. Not horrible but definitely not 2020s standard, looks like mid 2010s.
@@SkeletonXinI kinda know what you mean.. I watched a side-by-side of it. And the biggest issue is the shadows and the crispness of the highlights! The game is more faded and some of the animations are a little off. I don't know why they couldn't increase the blacks and whites and add film grain to match?!? 🤷🤷
Hey Az. Im playing this game also and am in the Vatican section post office section of the game, about 4 hours in. So far im liking the game and could not detect any of the DEI nonsens. The "girlboss" character has yet to make her appearence!
yeah cos there isnt any DEI nonsense, you're listening to the wrong people that dont have a clue what they are even talking about
Yeahhhh don't wanna spoil stuff for you but just wait until the appearance of said girl boss and what comes after in the rest of the game... There's a reoccurring theme of "male fragility" in the game and the woke stuff is definitely present unfortunately.
Wait til you get to Egypt.....strong powerful Lesbians incoming....dei confirmed...

I cant wait to see how he responds to the first few minutes of Gizah. They pulled the ol bait and switch and made Indi a secondary character in the woke world of women we Indiana Jones fans wanted.
It should have been in third person. You're playing as Indiana Jones, and you only see him in cut-scenes? Lame!
To be fair, a third of the game is cutscenes, for what i have seen.
It plays in first better than i thought it would.
If it was third person I would have been interested. I like seeing the character at all times.
Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb from early 2000s still holds up IMHO.
Yea I wanna see his butt and the back of his head all day
As of the first hour or so...game looks good, apart from Baker's overly-deadpan delivery the voices are decent, the non-story is inoffensive, the stealth mechanics are basic but probably the most 'sophisticated' we've seen in several years, it isn't crashing and game mechanics seem to work properly*, and there's even hints of "give a shit" in the details like reloading only as many bullets as were fired from the revolver.
My issues is the gameplay I will wait until it comes to ps
Watching to see if there are pronouns in this game.
No,but there's lesbians in Egypt... powerful strong womans..
That's extremely generous but hey, glad you enjoy.
@Entreped Perhaps a bit. It's definitely not for everyone.
@@Entreped I mean, it is pretty much universally appraised, so an 8 sounds about right.

1:34:10 no preist dude I don't remember Indy meeting you in 1927. You weren't in The Genesis Deluge, nor was he in Italy during that adventure.

I tried this game, it just felt off. How indie's suit looked in the museum, how he moves when you look down, like a ragdoll. It's just off.
Um, what happened to 5 Heartbeats Under One Roof????
That was the most unsatisfying head shot ever. 1:10:25 enemies in video games need to be fun to dispatch. other wise what is the point.
Were you booing the Pope or Mussolini?
Does anybody else see the small white dot in the middle of the screen....
One of the most tedious games Ive ever played.
It looks fairly dull. Where's all the action?
All the action ?? Have you watched any of the movies ?
@jonmartin9732 yes, yes I have. And the movies have various different action set pieces. Indy going through traps, brawls like the ones with Pat Roach, shoot outs, chase scenes and there's so far been no break in the gameplay to have anything except sneaking around and some Fist fights. Have you seen the movies? Indy was never the most stealthy character.
@@jonmartin9732it doesn’t matter this a video game not a movie buddy. The gameplay is lacking form the few reviews I have watched
@martymcnasty6306 the overwhelming majority of players disagree
1 hr in and I got bored.
I don't get bored of anything. I got addicted till, like many, progress was ended by a bug/s - there's several points where people are stuck. That said, the game is below average and feels ancient. I was stuck on 55h close to getting all achievements, apart from getting the 1000 notes, or whatever it is.
I workin me around the Vat/// It aint so shabby I reck///Played worse games I is enjoyed
This is a good game lol
“You are without doubt the worst adventurer I’ve ever heard of”
In all seriousness though, games great if you actually take the time to read, listen, and play it.
This game looks like the definition of mid.
Gameplay definitely seems wonky so even if the story is okay you would be correct about it being mid at best
Enjoy being joyless
It looks boring. Where's all the action? Why would you make an Indiana Jones game a stealth game? He never really sneaks around that much during the movies.
@@matane2465
He sneaks around all the time in the trilogy
@ManHamOrigins not really and when he does, it's to lead into an action set piece because he accidentally set off a trap or alerted his enemies to his presence.
The textures on the items look terrible. not even close to 4k maybe 1k. skyrim modded looks 2x times better.
This looks like it should have been released 20 years ago.
Isn't that what the anti woke crowd wants?
20 years ago it would have been more action packed.
Well, considering how old the movies it's based on, that makes sense. You are playing classic Indy.
One of the best surprises of the year. Very enjoyable game. Zero wokeness and absolutely incredible graphics on the Series X.

Hot garbage. The fps melee combat looks like that Mike Tyson game on the PS1 with a graphics upgrade. The enemy AI is seriously legitimately WORSE than Star Wars Outlaws. Nice PS3 quality graphics too.
Your predictions were wrong
Just from a visual point of view, why does the game look so... brown?
If you look at any of the three movies I don't remember them looking washed out. Even in the deserts there was still a degree of colour in them. Seems an odd design decision with the colour pallet.
No character creator, 0/10
when I saw rtx required I expected stalker 2 performance but also it's amazing graphics...what I see here is worse than tomb raider reboots

Mauler can make any game look bad since he plays every game as autistically as possible

tldr Az gave it a 6 so far. Mauler is probably giving it a worse rating, since he scrutinizes it a lot more closely.
It definitely does not deserve a high score. I just think that people are just so used to getting hot garbage games, that a somewhat competently made game looked better in comparison.
So far it keeps with its setting, lets Indy do Indy stuff and does not have any egregious dialogue that reeks of pushing an agenda.
