I miss the spite graphics as well! The new graphics are a turn off for me, but if the gameplay is really this great, I’ll just have to get used to the graphics!
This game is amazing. I thought it wasn’t going to be that different from Shiren 5, but it really does feel like a generational leap forward. I like how much story there is, and how scenes keep pulling you back into the dungeon
Was a huge fan of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team as a teenager. I had no idea Spike Chunsoft was still working on a mystery dungeon game outside of Pokémon. With no mainline or spinoff Pokémon game this year, I definitely want to check this out.
In Shiren 1 you always get a weapon within the first few floors. (Although it won't necessarily be a "good" weapon.) Maybe this is Shiren 6's way of teaching players item management is the most important thing in Shiren.
@@jarrettwilliams3307 JIC, there were 3 platformer Bombermen on N64. I think there were one or two on GameCube as well, but they don't look nearly as good imo.
How do you play these games i had a game similar to this on the ps3 i think, when you move the enemies move, for regular enemies you can trade blows, but i couldnt figure out how to beat the bosses haha
Haha I feel like I should make a video on how to play dungeon crawler roguelikes because their is a base way to approach them and then they have unique systems, but they aren’t as straight forward as other adventure or turn-based games. It’s all kinda nuanced.
The mechanics sound the same so I think it doesn't matter. The previous game had the ability to save your best weapon plus an item I think, very early on plus the warehouse to store things in town as did this one. The really early Shiren I gave up on because it was so brutal. Dice of Fate had at least the weapon saving and mechanics to make it a bit easier. I really loved that game. Obviously haven't played this one yet but it sounds very similar.😊
Towers of Fortune is available on Vita, Switch, and Steam, is cheaper in price, and has more content from the start. However, completing the main dungeon can be more challenging. Serpentcoil Island is more straightforward until you complete the main dungeon, which then the extra content opens up to you. It is also full price and only available on the Switch. It really comes down to a matter of preference
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon has always been my personal favorite despite Final Fantasy being much closer to me sentimentally. it’s just really hard to compete with a franchise that lets you go dungeon crawling with your favorite Pokemon from your childhood all together on one team. And it wasn’t made by Gamefreak so everything about them is high quality. They have the deepest, most mature stories outside of maybe the manga. The soundtracks are always a banger, although the core series has always been 10/10 too. There is an obscene amount of content in them and they just generally feel extremely polished. The sprites all look great and every single one of them has unique animations, it wasn’t just stuff lifted from the most recently released generation of games. “Labor of love” isn’t a phrase that’s usually associated with Pokemon, but these games really do feel like one. I’ve put close to 200 hours into Explorers of Sky on my phone over the past couple months. I highly recommend finding a way to play it if you never have before.
The change from 2d to 3d saddens me. I still play the vita game and this looks so lifeless in comparison. I know it's not the first time they've done 3d but it doesn't look as good.
My god, the graphics are awful and the animations are unbearable! Why does everything feel and look so floaty? There was no reason to make this a 3D game! I played two or three of the 2D Shirens in the past and they look and feel good when traversing the world. This here however, this is not acceptable, especially not for the *$60* price they are asking!! *WTF!?*
Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate sprite graphics had so much more charme 😢
I read in an article that they are returning to the original format in 3D, the last two games were 2D because of the Nintendo DS.

I don't think so...
then shut up and just play the original lol
Well, that one's available on Switch as well, and for 40 dollars less, sooo....

I just want a new Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game with the quality of life upgrades this game provides
It looks pretty good! I hope it sells well enough for a new PMD game!
Glad you gave it such an excellent review. I've been highly anticipating it. Sounds great with the different story lines. Thanks!
Yeah I’ve played this game for like 5 hours and have only found three weapons… most of the time I’m just bare knuckle brawling. Insane!

Been excited for this one! Thanks for the review
thanks for hanging out :)
Great! I’ve been looking forward to this game since last year, finally it’s almost here ☺️
Really excited for this. Definitely want a physical version. Also really enjoyed The Tower of Fortune and Dice of Fate.
New Shiren after 13 years, new Bomberman 3d platformer after 20 years? 🥺
Been waiting patiently since Bomberman 64....
What? New bomberman?

Hopefully they will do a PC version 😮

@@NoisyPixelNews please do, i'm probaby playing it wrong, thats why i enjoy plowing the weak ones and get roadblocked by the first boss hahaahah
man this looks like a pretty good game, but do these animations look kind of clunky lol
They are but it’s also meant to mirror the N64. It was a stylistic choice because this game takes place before the most recent entry. I fell ya though
Is this a significant improvement over the last game? Which should I start with?

Sora, is that you? 😂🤣
fair
I think i’d get it if it was $15, but at $60 it’s too much of a gamble knowing my relationship with video games
Cant wait to play this masterpiece
This vs chocobo dungeon vs pokemon dungeon
Which one is the best?

Shiren is King.

Can't wait for my pre order to arrive ❤
I bought the previous one and still not got around to playing it 🙈
PS5 port eventually?
9 out of 10
for a second i thought i messed up the animation again - Azario
This genre is too simplistic and repetitive.. makes me wonder, if it is truly liked, why it hasn't really evolved into anything new.
most of the new spins on this genre are on PC
It's a niche style of game. Look at Pokemon Mystery Dungeon's success and you'll see why its popular in that niche

the map look like Atari 2600 graphic
Unfortunately I prefer 2d for such games
looks generic...
Looks so cheap :-( 60€ are a lot.
This looks extremely boring 🤷🏾♂️
This game looks awful.
