I like hearing you call that "old man's beard " haven't heard that since I left home from Nova Scotia. Probably why I love all the UA-cam channels from the east coast ,starting to miss home.

I would so enjoy taking Otis out for a great paddle, but his wanting to avoid the water makes me quite hesitant. He'll sit on the shore and even take a drink or two, but getting his feet wet, or knowing that he was surrounded by water...not sure what he's be thinking and wouldn't want to stress the poor guy out! Lovely day out and looked like it was enjoyed by all!

Another great video Rob , don’t know how the dogs can swim in that cold water, must be well protected with their fur coat.

Another great video, "That stubborn Labrador Retriever mentality" ohhh how I can relate lol. Tucker is not good at all in the canoe at all and I blame a lot of it on me because I waited way to long for the first time out.
I agree the less products in those meals is probably the healthier meal especially less worse we can pronounce lol. Because some of them I can't pronounce half the contents lol.
You're right , now I'm no expert either on dehydrated and freeze dried but I did do a little reading a while back and saw a couple of videos on it , apparently freeze dry maintains way more of the foods nutrients than dehydrating. I actually getting a video done where I'm doing some chili.
Apparently the freeze dry units are really expensive compared to the dehydrators.
You're doing a great job my buddy

Yes I agree with you that those dehydrated meals can have lots of chemicals and lots of sodium , sometimes over 1000 mg per portion . I usually use them for backpacking and winter trip . Glad you had time for a little paddling , still waiting to do the same myself . Thanks for the video

Well, yes - sort of... freeze-dried meals are dehydrated. You can get dehydrated meals from a kitchen dehydrator. Both remove water, both 'dry' the food. The difference is that freeze-drying is a process where cooked food is put into a low-pressure container, imagine a big boiler vessel, and then the temperature is dropped. At normal seal-level pressure, ice turns to water, and then to vapour, as it is warmed up. In low pressures like in the container, frozen water directly 'sublimates' to vapour (skipping the liquid phase). The benefit to this is that the food remains porous, so more evenly rehydrates (you don't get that case-hardening that you get with a home dehydrator). Flavours and nutrition is less likely to be washed out, because the free water is sublimated directly. Think of how freeze-dried strawberries compare to home dehydrated strawberries. So much different. I like the Peak refuel meals, but don't really like that Breakfast Skillet one, unless I add pepper to it! The strawberry granola is amazing. And the chicken teriyaki rice is ridiculously tasty!

beautiful country. we once owned 10,000 acres in northern Ontario in the '60s. I always wanted to live there in the northern bush. now at 72 and the actions of the tyrannical Canadian government. I'm glad I don't. I am now fleeing the u.s. for a South American tropical island along the equator. no hurricanes. no earthquakes.

Man i don't understand why dog's don't freeze when they go swimming in that water. Every dog i have had did the same thing. Lobster fishing delayed, here on the north shore of pei, can't wait for a feed
