They are waaaaaaay to expensive in the UK the R5 body only is £4199 which equates to £5300 US dollars and the R6 is £2899 body only which requests to just over $4k dollars! It's ridiculous!. America gets the R5 body for $3899 which equates to £3k British pounds so yea if you moved to England you'd need to change up $5300 dollars to buy it and with a lens it would cost you $7949 or £5300 British pounds so now you see why in the UK the cost of both the R5 & R6 are obscene and disgraceful.

Do we really need bigger/better to this extent? Of course Canon wants to convince us purchasing yet another new camera with more processing power than the PC taking humanity to the moon in the 1960s... AND it cost as much as a second-hand car!!!! I admit that the "true silent mode" is very useful during weddings, nature shots etc, but is it worth the money for a semi-pro?
In the old days (pre-digital) photographers used what today is sneered at, a mechanical metal box with a piece of glass in front + 36 negatives and no "auto" anything what so ever... still they produced fantastic images that still stands the test of time.
OK, if I had a million on the bank I might buy one of these R5/R6 toys... but as long as I live in the real world I will keep to the great second-hand gear that flooding the markets.... most of this type of gear cover 98% of what us semi-pro and/or amateurs need. If I ever need an R5/R6 these for a job which I doubt... then I will not buy one, I just rent it for a day.
You make a great point about the value of great second-hand gear. Tons of great bodies and EF glass are going to hit ebay after gear addicts pick up these new bodies and lenses. Most people will be better served buying used and getting higher quality glass than picking up these new bodies and RF lenses. I don't need anything these new cameras offer but I'm excited to have stabilization on some of my old primes, improved autofocus in low light especially at 1.2, and will appreciate the improvement to the EVF.
This is innovation, we always need to push technology forward.

We will be able to create high quality content on the go, while also having the option to rig the cameras for high end commercials when needed. No need to rent anything.
@@christiangennari Yes different needs definitely require different solutions for sure. I only pointed out the situation from my personal perspective. I'm a stills shooter with a bit of an "old fashioned" mindset maybe, so the old gear lasts me plenty since I don't need video etc.
You on the other hand are in a different department so fully understand your preferences 😉
I think of the 800 and 600 f11 lenses as being 300 and 400 f5.6 lenses with a built-in 2x teleconverter. The noise performance of the r6 makes these lenses look better, especially for the price.
Please tell me I can use my current Canon lenses (50 mm f1.2, 70-200 f2.8) on this new R5?🤔🙏👀

Obviously one long ad, but they don't hide that fact and I don't mind. It's announcing the camera and showing its features, which is exactly what I wanted.

A review doesn't require pros and cons/ CC, it doesn't even have to be unbiased (which is basically impossible for B&H to do since they have an inherent interest in selling this product).
I don't know anyone who would trust an in-depth review that was performed over an afternoon.

How is the R5 with lowlight video?
Other than video I don't see anything I can't do with my 6D with one exception, the 800 and 600 f/11 is very tempting but I'm sticking with my 100-400 L lens for now. When I need to go long I just grab my 1DIV and use a Canon 1.4tc with the 100-400 and it works quite well but a small, lightweight telephoto is something to consider for my wildlife photography.
Did you experience any overheating issues while testing the R5 in video mode?
The recording limits placed on these cameras are there to prevent over heating. There should not be any additional issues beyond that.

when he starts the 8K looks like some vignetting around 10:38
Probably caused by a ND filter to keep the right shutter speed at 24fps outside on the sun.
Finally, a camera that is perfectly suited, to the weather pattern in Ireland or Island or ??? :)

Both R5 and R6 have the same mechanical shutter which gives you a maximum of 12 FPS and the same electronic shutter which gives you a maximum of 20 FPS. In terms of the buffer, the EOS R6 stands apart from the R5 with the ability to shoot a maximum burst of 240 RAW images on a SDXC UHS-II card while the R5 shoots a maximum burst of 180 images on a CFExpress card. With all this being said, both cameras are very capable when it comes to shooting sports.
Does it record sound in 4k 120fps?

Thx, but I was missing information about limits of overheating in 8K filming, or what is the writing benchmark in 8K? how many MB/s? That would be interesting for some filmmakers here.(BTW- found this information in another YT Channel) .... and for me the Killer argument I was also missing, information about this fact: The recording limit - 29:59 min. That is a no Go for me. May be Canon will have in future a payed firmware upgrade (and I hope Canon will do that) than it could be a game changer like the EOS 5D MK2 long time ago. ... Canons been sitting on this lens for maybe 4 years screwing the DSLR people. The new R5 45mp give me a freakin break.
I doubt if the Canon R5 has a stack sensor. So at 20fps the rolling shutter must be very obvious.
What is Canon going to do with the heat problem? I’m in the market for a new camera and the r5 was top on my list but I’m hesitant to buy with this current problem

In terms of AF I'm not sure how good the old ones work... But as far as I remember... It's not even close to the 7rIV eye af in video... Okay it's a newer technology... But anyway. We'll see

Hi. How well do they perform with EF lens with the adapter. 1) Performance? 2) Will the bigger lens shake when connected with adapters?
It is our understanding that the performance with these cameras and the EF lenses/EF-R adapters is excellent. Although EF lenses and EF-R adapters will add some weight, these camera can easily handle it.
The Canon EF adaptors are solid and I don't have any noticeable performance loss on the R. I imagine it will be the same for the R5 & R6.
WHY is Doug always in the dark? In every video I've seen him lately looks like a cave exploring doc series, not to mention the vid quality. Check Gordon Laing's vid to compare (just clicked on it randomly from the yt list) Isn't there a store, or some ppl who could help him w exposure settings, lights, modifiers..etc.?
I wonder what type of computer you need to edit those 8k raw, at 2600 Mb/s, im sure if I put my 3 old macs together it wont run realtime before grading, 4k raw should have been included as an option.

R5 has weird inverse vignetting, the edges of the frame are clearly brighter particularly obvious at 10:10 , 10:38 and 11:06
And here we are, another camera with amazing specs but with video capabilities that I just do not need or feel I should have to pay for. I’ve been using Canon for over 10 years now and have spent £15K+ on Canon equipment during that time. My current camera is an old but beautiful 1DS MKIII. It still produces amazing images and in its day was a samurai sword of a camera, made with one purpose only, to produce the best images possible. However old age comes to us all and as time has progressed it clearly has limitations with ISO and focussing compared to new cameras and I feel a change is in order. Having been around a while I can remember the days when if you wanted to shoot high end film and video you bought a video camera & if you wanted to shoot high end stills you bought a stills camera. So this leads me today, I’m in the market for a replacement and I think mirrorless is the way to go but wait Houston we have a problem, you’re combined the two cameras. That represents a problem to me because I have no interest in shooting video of any sort and never will so I have to question why I should spend the best part of $6K on a camera that I will only use 50% of its capabilities? Can’t I just have a stills camera for $4K and have it built completely for stills images like my 1DS MKIII? There’s no need for 2 production lines because the solution is really very simple, software. Everything runs on software so produce 1 camera with both video and stills capabilities but lock out with software what the customer doesn’t want to buy. Tesla cars have been doing it for years, buy a base price model then when you are ready purchase an update to unlock more of the features. There can be no doubt they sell more units this way and if they can do it why can’t Canon? Until you can come up with a solution I’m afraid my money is staying firmly in my pocket.
How can I get a photo sample from those cameras?

How is the autofocus performance in frames / sec of the R5 with EF lenses e.g. with EF 700-200 2:2.8 II ?
If you are using any of the Canon lens adapters (the *Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R,* _B&H # CAMAEFRF,_ the *Canon Control Ring Mount Adapter EF-EOS R,* _B&H # CAMAEFRFCR,_ the *Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Circular Polarizer Filter,* _B&H # CAMAEFRFDICP,_ or the *Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Variable ND Filter,* _B&H # CAMAEFRFDIND,)_ you would still have impressive autofocus performance, especially with the bright f/2.8 lens, though the camera can retain autofocus with maximum apertures as small as f/11 (and EV levels down to -6 EV for still photography (and -3 EV for 8K video). Do note that if you use a neutral density filter on the front of the lens that is 5 f-stops (1.5) or darker, you would lose autofocus performance.

It does not do 1080 240. Max frame rate in 1080 is 59.94.
I'd go for the R6. I pretty much only shoot video. I don't need 8k as I don't do projects for cinema grade. But I do need 4k. What I want to know is if the R6 has some kind of log video format that would make it better for color grading.
All the R6 footage in the video was originally shot in Canon Log.

Everything looks underexposed or not good contrast / dynamic range. Questionable why to by 4K@120FPS if most video examples in 4K at 24 FPS.... Looks like something was missing, might be like limitation of 4K at 120 FPS by few minutes or so.
When I will change my lens will the shutter cover up the sensor like it did in the Eos R?

What are the images going to look like with (for example) a R6 with EF lens attached (using the adapter) and then the same photo with a EL + adapter? What I'm trying to say is if I were to take a photo with a R6 with a RF lens of any focal length, then taken the same photo with the R6 with an EF lens...would I see a difference?
Adapted EF lenses would work just as good as using them on an EOS DSLR body, but they due add a bit more weight to the EOS R6. Using the RF mount lens would allow it to sit closer to the image sensor, have the direct mount to the EOS R6 and maintain the compact size/weight. In terms of image quality, that would be dependent on the which EF and RF lenses are being compared.

Yes, there is a recording limit. For 8K is is 20 minutes, while 4K at 60 FPS is 25 minutes. Other modes will be right at 30 minutes.

How many stops does bracketing do?
Both the EOS R5 and R6 are capable of +/- 3 stops in 1/3 or 1/2 increments.
R5 8k and 4k is there any recording limit?
Yes, 8K is limited to 20 minutes. You can only record 4K60 for up to 25 minutes.

How many stops of stabilisation without the lens IS?
If you used an EF lens that doesn't have stabilization built in, you can still gain the benefit of the 8 stops of IBIS in the camera.

Can't say I've ever been "excited" about any new Canon camera, but they are back in the conversation and clearly designed to give Sony something to respond to. My love affair with Fuji is rapidly coming to an end and I have been looking to move on. I looked at the X-Pro-3 (as a replacement for my X-Pro-2) and absolutely hated it. The X-T and X-H line seem more focused on video and as a stills shooter they are packed with features I don't need or wish to pay for. I've accepted that every camera is going to push video features but these new Canon cameras seem to lean a bit more towards still, so besides Sony I've now got Canon to consider.
What is the still buffer on the R5 assuming one is using CFe?
According to documentation from Canon, when shooting at approximately 12 fps, the maximum burst depth when capturing JPEG images and using a UHS-II SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card (and the CFexpress memory card) would be 350 images, and would be 190 images when using a UHS-I SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card. When using the UHS-II card, the buffer depth would be 87 images when using the standard .CR2 RAW image format, 260 images when using the compressed C-RAW image format, 79 images for RAW + JPEG Large, and 130 images for compressed C-RAW + JPEG Large image formats.
When using the CFExpress card and shooting at approximately 12 fps, you would get approximately 350 JPEG Large images, 180 RAW images, and 260 compressed C-RAW images. When shooting RAW + JPEG Large images, you would get approximately 160 images per burst, and when shooting compressed C-RAW + JPEG Large images, you would get approximately 240 images per burst.
When shooting using the electronic shutter at approximately 20 fps and using the CFexpress card, you would get approximately 170 JPEG Large images, 83 RAW images, 130 C-RAW images, 84 RAW + JPEG Large images, and 150 compressed C-RAW + JPEG Large images per burst.

B&H Photo Video so you are not able to record 8K Raw on SD Card and there is no external output for SSD. That means recording 8K Raw on compatible card will cost fortune 💸
Nowy Kurs SD cards aren’t fast enough for RAW. Media limitation not a camera limitation
You can try! I can get a few seconds of 6K RAW recording to an SD card on my black magic. Then it just stops. I'll m going to test out and see if you can record to an SSD through the USB C port on the R5. You could also record to an external recorder like the Ninja V.

I have to agree that 20Mp is more than enough, even for very large prints. I can see the R6 selling well. My current E-M1ii gives me fantastic images, even though it is a Micro Four-thirds, and I think people are realising that megapixels is not the solution to better images. Indeed, I can shoot at 60fps too.

Hey I fully aggree with you, I've had butthurt cannon fans going on at me for saying that too!!. In the UK the R5 body only costs £4199 which is $5298 dollars!! So both are expensive in America but in England they are obscenely expensive! I agree with you 100% they will not sell many of either apart from to high paid professionals! And we're in a pandemic and a depression like you said millions have lost jobs!! Canon fans hate it but I've stated everywhere I believe canons in trouble especially when Sony release better cameras with better specs for less money!.

But yea definitely if you already have pro level gear they won't be buying these cameras either, it's only people who have that gear and are by chance ready to upgrade. Otherwise indeed like you say if your say a wedding photographer/videographer why would you buy one of these and not the Sony A7III especially when it gets reduced once the A7IIII is released, it'll cost like three times less and will still look incredible plus Sony have tones of lens options!. It might just be me but I'm not seeing a market for these cameras maybe the R6 a little more but still they are just way to expensive

Hyping a product before launch signals to the manufacturer that they can jack up prices.
If you see a product you really like, and prices haven't been announced, don't hype it. Criticise it instead.

@@GabrielScindian You're welcome! Yeah, this is a true hybrid camera. I have the a7r iii for stills and panasonic gh5/gh5s for video and the r5 will allow me to replace two brands of cameras. I missed the canon menus, skintones, and now reclaimed industry-leading specs 👏

Everyone needs to know it is taking them over 2 months to get you your R5 right now. I ordered back in August around the 20th.. They just shipped my camera today!!!! Their customer service is horrible. They regurgitated the same information over and over and never had a ship date for me. Very rude customer service. I will be ordering directly through canon in the future now.

You can go into iso settings and stretch your iso to 102,400 in the R camera settings
