This is what typically happens with these "can't lose Comp systems". Playing explicitly for comps will generally end up with you broke. It's better to just play a strategy that you like and pay for your room/meals out of pocket. If you get comps from your play, that's just a nice bonus.
Also, the gambling method of betting opposite of the player with the worst luck on the table is called "looking for the lantern". Because the unlucky person will show you where to bet. 😂
