Funny Prince Louis steals the show during the Big Help Out

- Prince Louis steals the show on his first official engagement. Prince Louis missed the Coronation Concert last night because it was past his bedtime, but on his first ever official royal engagement he was operating a mini JCB as the family spruced up a Slough scout hut to support the Big Help Out. When the Prince of Wales took control of a digger, Louis jumped into his father's lap as William moved the mechanical arm and grabbed a bucket full of soil before dumping it on a heap. He looked fascinated as William worked the controls of the excavator. And it didn't end there, Kate was seen pushing a wheelbarrow while her youngest son shoveled in sand. He then took control, steering it expertly as his mum supported its weight. Louis also took on some painting for a mural. When his work was done he devoured several toasted marshmallows. Charlotte opted for a s'more - a gooey marshmallow in between two chocolate digestive biscuits. When Louis spotted one going spare his father heard declaring: 'You've made his day' as he chomped away on it. Charlotte was seen delightedly running to help prepare a new path while George, a future king himself, was spotted learning how to use a power drill.

More than anything, I noticed how very aware the Princess of Wales was of just how her children were behaving and in keeping Louis' antics in check. What an excellent and attentive parent she is.

Given the fact he only turned five, 6 days ago, he is really like a 4 yr old, yet he handled the Coronation and then the Scouts events - loaded the wheelbarrow without complaint, pushed the wheelbarrow like a strong boss, enjoyed his first ever s’mores, was focused with archery, which he had never done before and yet hit the target several times. To me, he was beyond the behaviour of most 12 year olds today. Most kids, especially after the Coronation, imagine walking into the Abbey in front of 2,300 people, plus choir members, etc, cameras, clergy, that in itself would be frightful, daunting yet he was impeccable. Then to be out the next day, working as a volunteer at scouts, without carrying on or saying, no I don’t want to do it, or half heartedly put one shovel of dirt in and walk away, nope, he worked hard. Actually, it was a s’more. Fire 🔥 roasted marshmallows, chocolate and a biscuit. Of course he loved it, they are great.

Funny you should say this, Ana on "The View" mentioned Prince Louis this morning and feels he could save the monarchy. He certainly is a strong personality. Of course, we all love him to pieces, you can't help but love this little charmer.

Prince Louis is as rambunctious as little Prince Harry was. But unlike his uncle, Prince Louis doesn't show any jealousy towards his older brother. Neither does Princess Charlotte. This is a stark contrast with Prince Harry who has been jealous to his big brother all his life. I think William and Kate do a much better job in raising their children.

The Prince and Princess of Wales must be so very proud of their children, they are so enjoyable to watch and so well behaved (Prince Louis does have his hilarious moments!). They have done such a wonderful job of raising those children and I love that we get to see so many wonderful moments of their growing years!

Louis seems to be a very smart and conscientious kid.

Wow, he really liked that s'more! Here in the US it's a toasted marshmallow between 2 Graham crackers (British biscuits, right?) with a Hershey chocolate bar. They're called s'mores because most kids will ask, "Got some more?"

So many memories of so many Scouting events when my kids were growing up!
*I like how the Wales kids are being brought up in a not-so-stiff royal protocols. I mean, I remember watching a docu about the queen mum, and how her staff would take all the food given to her during official visits or meet-and-greets for fear of poisoning or whatever. They would only eat the food in official banquets or from the palace cooks. I'm so glad William and Catherine are allowing the kids to experience this.*

Amazing how each child has different personalities and strengths and William and Catherine not only ALLOW them to be who they are but encourage and support them. For purely selfish reasons I wish they had more children for me to enjoy on the occasions they feel appropriate to share them. What excellent examples of parenting skills . They allow them to demonstrate age appropriate behavior even having been born into the royal family.
