Aww, Kir Kanos from the Crimson Empire comics is one of my favorite characters, I wanted him to be more awesome. :( Anyway, great videos. I plan to buy X-Wing and a few of the expansions in a month or two and your videos provide a lot of great information.
I realized that I forgot to mention that the Royal Guard TIE title requires a pilot with a pilot skill of 5 or higher. This isn't a big deal, since there are only a couple of non-unique pilots with a skill of 4 or lower.
You are an ace ! By the way love FAT HAN When painting my other models for bolt action I got you in my play list and watch your videos over and over, just love it. I'm big fan and keep them coming Thanks
This was the first expansion I picked up over half a year ago now :) In addition, I'm looking forward to the Starviper expansion for the Interceptor's greatest modification to be released! Autothrusters.. Gotta increase the long term survivability in the format where HLC YT2400's pose a threat to range 2 Interceptors as you try to close the gap on enemies.
I hope this question makes sense, but can you use the non unique royal guard pilot for the tie interceptor that is not red? i assume you can, but I just wanted to make sure.
jonny lasich Yep, the paint job on the miniature doesn't matter. You can have Soontir Fel flying a Royal Guard red Interceptor if you want, or promote a generic no-name pilot to a Sabre Squadron TIE. The paint jobs are purely aesthetic.
I eventually want to get this pack only so I can create a custom pilot I'll call Baron von Soontir Fel and put iron crosses on the wings of the red ship ; (and have him fight a beagle in a bullet hole ridden doghouse of course) I guess Kir Kanos situational ability comes in handy if he can’t get into range 1 to attack then there is no primary weapon bonus for hi or his opponent at range 2 but rolling an extra defense die at range 3 might partially make up for spending the automatic evade for an auto hit which there is no taken for (the reverse of evade). I guess it’s also saying a TIE I at PS 6 might not always be at close attack and arc dodging range(?) Could be just interesting flavor also. It’s amazing how FFG has not repated abilities and yet makes them feel appropriate to unique named and/or types of ships. It’s interesting PTL Push the Limit is used wiht TIE I expansion Soontir Fel all the time but came with the A-w interceptor. I guess FFG got the message players were doing htat so they included it here which is good.
So... Two Saber Squadron interceptors each with: Royal Guard TIE Title Targeting Computer Hull Upgrade OR Shield Upgrade (which would you recommend?) Would that be a decent setup?
Thanks for the great review!, question though, as a empire/scum player who generally has one of everything and not enough to make pro builds, ( I do have one tie interceptor ) should i buy this or the decimator?
Lucas Keys Well, the best thing you get out of this is two additional TIE Interceptors, plus Push the Limit (if you don't have an A-Wing) and I really cannot stress how essential that upgrade is on Soontir Fel. The Royal Guard TIE title is very good, too. Basically if you want to play a fully loaded Interceptor (like Soontir Fel with Push the Limit, Royal Guard TIE, Stealth Device, Autothrusters) then this expansion is necessary. BUT, the Decimator is also a lot of fun. Definitely get that if you want to add a solid large ship to your Imperial build. Really, you can't go wrong either way.
Thanks! i do have an a wing, i'm going do some thinking, the former seems like a better bet for pro builds but the latter seems like more fun, easier to use and i think i would do better with it.
Lucas Keys I've been playing a build with my daughter that uses both Soontir Fel and a Decimator. Full build: Soontir w/Push the Limit, Royal Guard TIE, Stealth Device and Autothrusters, Patrol Leader VT-49 Decimator, 2x Academy Pilot TIE Fighters. It's a lot of fun to fly. The TIE Fighters tend to do pretty well since they get overlooked as the enemy ships try to take down the Decimator or Fel.
It does kind of look like it, doesn't it? That would be a really cool Easter egg if it is, but I suspect it's just a standard TIE/on since wave 2 released in February of 2013 (with the first appearance of Push the Limit in the A-Wing expansion) and Star Wars Rebels, which debuted the Inquisitor's TIE Advanced Prototype, didn't premiere until October 2014. Anything is possible, though, and we've certainly seen this type of sneak peek at upcoming ships via card artwork from FFG before.
The Cardboard Dungeon it still is kind of an Easter egg. it is most likely a tie anyways and how the wings are make it look like an advanced prototype.
+Talon3000 - They do a lot of that with X-Wing. It's obvious that the designers know their Star Wars characters, and give the pilots abilities that fit their styles well.
The Cardboard Dungeon FFG is great about that. I noticed their Warhammer 40k titles tend to follow the background closer than Games Workshop's own products.
+Bigben028STL - Yep, seemed a weird design decision to me as well. I understand the intent; hat these Aces packs are bringing new assortments of higher pilot skills and point costs to the ships, but if you want an easy way to table three Alpha Squadron Pilots? You need to buy 3x TIE Interceptor expansions...
Your ship building videos have really helped with my decimator and black squadron, thankyou very much.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching.

I have a playlist setup with all of your X-Wing videos... great work buddie! Keep at it, if you please.
:)
Joe Boss Thank you!
You are an ace !
By the way love FAT HAN

Joseph Simeone Thanks!
Hey, you have great videos, and as a new x wing player it is nice to get some good insight complete with good video and sound quality. Keep posting!
Brett Schoppert I'm glad that they're helpful for you! You keep watching the vids and I'll keep making them!
Nice. I just got my Imperial Aces. I'm looking forward to maiden'em.

RobotsGreatWar2 Autothrusters looks amazing indeed.
minor point lt lorirr has 6 placement options for his barrel roll as he can still use the straight 1 as well as bank either way to either side.

thanks for the great video, helps me to build up my imperial fleet :)

Truly great Information for first timers like myself.
Brian Wadsworth Thanks! I'm glad that the videos have been helpful to you.
So... Two Saber Squadron interceptors each with:
Royal Guard TIE Title
Targeting Computer
Hull Upgrade OR Shield Upgrade (which would you recommend?)
Would that be a decent setup?
I'd take Autothrusters for the extra survivability.
They are PS4, which unfortunately rules out the title, doesn't it?

@@thecardboarddungeon8770 I want to try that list - opening squad builder right now.
I'm thinking of an imperial build with two interceptors and either a spec ops tie, a phantom or an inquisitor. Any thoughts?
I think you should play whichever of those ships you like playing the most. They're all fun.
Will you be reviewing the Imperial Veterans expansion?
+hooah20sf - Most likely.
hey! me gain! would you still buy a tie interceptor expasion if you have a option to buy this imperial ace expasion already? thanks :)
David Renó Yes, because the best TIE Interceptor pilot in the game, Soontir Fel, comes in the TIE Interceptor expansion.
nice, thanks!
David Renó also If you want the copies of the alpha squadron pilot they only come in the expansion.
Julius Kaminski thanks! I ended up buying the interceptor expansion since the imperial ace didn't came to brazil yet.
Awesome! It's one of the best Imperial ships in the game!
Is it me, or does the artwork for ptl have the inquisitors TIE in the bottom left?
It does kind of look like it, doesn't it? I just noticed that Lorrir is pretty close to canon, he had a tendency to side-slip enemy attacks, so he's an expert at barrel rolling.
+Talon3000 - They do a lot of that with X-Wing. It's obvious that the designers know their Star Wars characters, and give the pilots abilities that fit their styles well.
The Cardboard Dungeon
FFG is great about that.
I noticed their Warhammer 40k titles tend to follow the background closer than Games Workshop's own products.
+Talon3000 - They certainly do their research. FFG are nothing if not excellent stewards of their licensed product.
Do a imperial raider review
I can't believe it doesn't come with any alpha squadron pilot cards
+Bigben028STL - Yep, seemed a weird design decision to me as well. So wait, if Fel flew with Saber, what the fuck happened to the 181st?
Nice!
😊
wheres the tantove 4 review
Don't have to tell me, I bought 2 Lol..
brent schlaeppi I've been tempted to pick up a second copy. Those paint jobs are just too cool.
tetran cowall is good teamed with c ryad
Your reviews kill.
Markus Moore Thanks! Glad you like them!
wheres the tantove 4 review
There isn't one yet. Sorry!
