Great review and video thanks guys. The Raiden series is one of my favorite to play on Switch in both short bursts and longer more determined attempts at completion.
Received my PS5 and Switch versions thru Amazon yesterday, but for some reason the Xbox version is back-ordered (even though they were all ordered at the same time, 1st day of pre-orders)
Raiden is my favorite shooter series. It's a shame that we haven't gotten modern releases of the best games (everything pre Raiden III). I bought this for all 3 consoles to support the franchise in any case.
Raiden is always a nice title. Looking forward to get my physical copy delivered within the next days ;). It is only a pitty that graphically they don't do much with those remakes to adjust graphics and sounds to HiFi cinema quality level ... otherwise would have been something for the projector. Okay ... I won't even talk about the whish to have that run in 3D on an appropriate screen ;).
Looks promising. Not over-the-top unplayable difficult like so many others, but more like R-Type Final 2. Probably a very good and fun old-school arcade game!
You aren't missing much of anything. Except for graphics, you'd probably have a much more enjoyable time playing Raiden one and two, or any of the entries from the Raiden fighters subseries.
Just got through playing it. Returned it after only about 2 to 3 hours of actual gameplay, including the boss rush mode. I hate to say it, but this is one basic bitch of a shooter game. I thought that the Raiden game from a few years ago, whichever one it was that had the four way rotating diamond laser weapon, and the stupid incessant quips about coffee on the part of the captain, was a much better game. I really wish they would release Raiden 2 and Raiden DX for the PS5.
@@Meta7 The recent ones are kind of a blur to me now. But was Raiden V the one with the four-way rotating laser weapon, and the annoying captain who kept talking about coffee? If so, I kind of enjoyed that one. I've never personally, really enjoyed the Raiden series since the original, Raiden 2, and Raiden DX, but number five was a pretty nice diversion for a little while.
@@007Thanos007 I don't remember a four-way rotating laser weapon (that's not to say it didn't exist, though). But Raiden V was the only one with any sort of captain, annoying or not. If you enjoyed Raiden DX, you may also find the Raiden Fighters series worth looking into (and its fangame / spiritual sequel "Xeno Fighters R").
Love shmups, can't beat any of them :D
Lol, pretty much the same thing for me. I can't even imagine trying to 1CC any of the classic Toaplan or Cave shooters or others of the type.
Love a few old school ones guardian legend, life force.
Same here. You should try Espgaluda 2. Easiest 1cc for a shmup.
Me, too. I suck hard at them but still love them.. Even on easy mode.
practice makes perfect. keep playing and never give up. do your best you have ever done. this is not similation. destoroy the enemy.

Cant wait for my copy to get here! Still waiting on my preorder from Amazon to arrive.

there really ought to be a raiden compilation pack for switch that includes the ultimate RAIDEN DX
Thanks for the review, my biggest complaint is price vs content. I can’t seem to justify paying over $30 for this particular title.
I remember playing Raiden at a video arcade in a coin slot machine style play format.
HOLA , SE PUEDE ABRIR EN PANTALLA COMPLETA ?
Not just the ordinary game but the OST itself made that game special especially the ending credit

for shmup games, i still miss "Raptor"

I really want to love shmups but their difficulty and my poor eyesight don't go hand in hand.
Same. My eyes star watering after some minutes 😢
Is it 2D or 3D or 2.5D ?
2D
Thunderforce needs a remake for modern systems.
Doubt I'll get this one myself.

I didn't like too much Raiden V, Raiden 4 IMO looks ugly, It hasn't age well, so maybe Raiden 3 is the one.
just not on Switch. it suffers from terrible slowdown.
I love the shmups but I really didn’t particularly enjoy this one. Just seems so lacklustered.

I'm sure you were referring to Raiden V lol.
