Flap disc on a grinder works well for me but you do have to be careful to not overheat the blade so I usually keep a bucket of water close by to cool it after a few passes especially if the blade is really blunt and needs a lot of material taken off to get the edge back 👍🏼
Great video guys and perfect timing! I purchased a new blade off Amazon last year, said to be already sharpened but upon fixing on the same way as original blade it seems to be ripping the grass as the tips were jagged. Upon switching around I had the same issue which I assume means the blade is not pre-sharpened. Now I'm not sure which way around the blade goes/rotates, any tips or tricks on determining which way around the blade needs to be fitted (it's an old Mountfield sp164 petrol if that helps)? Thanks!
Not sure, but I know of someone who will be able to help you especially if you say I sent you over there. Mick is your man youtube.com/@themowerman?si=6n_qMY-MD4YeFN8h

I’ve tried everything from sharpening stone to bench grinder but find it’s much better to just use a file.
A file is as good as any
I use a 80 grit flappy disk on the angle grinder and the old nail in a wall for balancing 💯
👌👍🙂
Good video Robbie, I need to get a balancing wheel

Great tips
smashed the like button.. great video
Thank you Shaun 😊
Had one for years and check every time I sharpen my mower blade
Perfect 👍👍👍
Flappy disc always👍
👍👍👍
Good tips mate. Blades aren’t cheap so get as much as you can out of them.
It's a pretty basic thing that a lot of folks don't know how to do, just trying to show how easy it is
Angle of the blade ~30° ? At least it was on a replacement blade i bought. The original angle was altered by my filing.
SMASHHHH!!!👏👏👏⭐️⭐️⭐️
💪💪💪🙂
Just how I do it.. flappy disc is perfect... 80 grit
Hey Mick, nice to see you over here. This one is right up your street. Happy Easter pal

Nothing beats a flap disc, and you will sharpen your blades more when it's easy
I like to use a Drenmel with sharpening stone bits.
That works well too 👍
Great vid! And…. What if you don’t have a vice? 😅
Buy one 😂
@@Premier_lawns_official fair reply 😂
I balance mine on a nail.
Don't forget to SMASH the like button

So an unbalanced blade, you will feel more vibration from the mower
Yes 100 percent
And possibly damaging the crankshaft bearings
First 🤪
😂👌💪
I still prefer my option.......buy a new mower
Alright Ritchie rich 🤑
