    That one powerful statement makes you really reflect on what John meant. To me it says don't take your craft lightly but don't overthink it or feel you have to "do" anything special, other than being truthful and present and powerful. I'll always remember that on set and in auditions. Brilliant, simplistic advice.

    This video is really great. I think something as actors think, especially when it's our first time as a role we suddenly begin to worry about whether or not it'll be perfect or good enough. Even at our first audition for a role, no matter how hard we study, our anxieties always creep up on us no matter what. This video helps get over the first time jitters a bunch! Thank you. 👍😄

    I've been practicing stanislaviski's exercises for a year and a half,
    One week ago i've finally reached this fact " emotionally" like a miracle ,
    This is the profound reality of human being which is "they are the direct reflection of my inner world"
    "THEY ARE ME"
    Sometime i get a panic attack because of realizing this truth .
    Thank you for sharing this to public although i'm sure a very few number of people will realize it "emotionally".
    Best regards,, 🌺

      Getting into an acing school is easy. You have to have the right monologues, and to know how to work on them non-stop for months, night and day. That is how people become stars. They work harder than anyone else. John Windsor-Cunningham (Windsor-Cunningham.com)

    Wow!! That's So True. I always felt I was the performance. Never really had an Actor coach,, but I totally get what your saying. I believe and always have taken a scene and made it my own. Meaning If I was in this certain situation how would realizing I am the performance. I like how you come across. I feel like your talking to me. Needing to hear from your perspective and adjust or what I call fine tuning. I can't wait to do the next gig. Thank You!!

    This may not make sense. But I showed up to an audition and decided to do what I wanted, they didn't like it, and I said, 'oh well. That's my performance. I'll keep doing me, and someone will hire me for being me.' Take it or leave it, but I want to be myself fully on screen. That's acting in my opinion.

    • @NewYorkActingCoach
      @NewYorkActingCoach  5 років тому

      Well, yes, sounds fair and good. Of course we can all of us always improve, and an audition performance can always be better as days go by and wisdom grows - ! - and if you actually want my opinion I'd need to hear/ watch the audition. No reason why you should bother with my opinion, only saying that's the only way I know to help people get better. UP to you. Anyway best wishes. I miss most messages here, so please, if you need to, use the 'contact' page on my website (www.Windsor-Cunningham.com) but it sounds as if you may not need my help at all. Seriously, JOhn

      Well, first of all messages left here for me aren't a good idea as they can disappear or just be missed by me. Please use the 'Contact' page on my website (Windsor-Cunningham.com) or my direct email (jwcactor@yahoo.com) - but while I'm here, if there's a reason why I should have a beer with you then fine, like if you do something that interests me (write or direct) but if you want coaching then the details can be easily got by contacting me as above, and if I feel I can be of genuine use to your getting actual jobs as an actor then I'll help. If you're a dreamer then I wont ! JOhn Windsor-Cunningham

  • @russelldavidoakley2802
    @russelldavidoakley2802 6 років тому +1

    Well thanks for that little gem. Very wax on wax off, grasshopper. I don't know if I get it or not. I do think that maybe you will find a way to explain it a little bit more, perhaps "the final lesson, part two".

    • @NewYorkActingCoach
      @NewYorkActingCoach  6 років тому

      Thanks for your interest. But you are the first of 8 thousand viewers to ask that. Maybe the fact that you call it a "little gem" is a clue. "A little gem"??!! Hmm . . . . I do say that it is something which people will not be ready for yet, and I fear that apart from your watching it a few more times you may simply need to do a lot more actual work as an actor - or whatever field you apply this advice to - in order to discover what it means and how it fits. So "keep going" is the best answer I can give you, since any further explanation of my advice in this video would stop it from working. It has to work like a "flash" of obviousness, or it has no value to that person. I can't please everyone, I guess. Best wishes, Sorry to be so harsh. John Windsor-Cunningham

    • @NewYorkActingCoach
      @NewYorkActingCoach  5 років тому

      You're right, that mental illness is incredibly hard to act well, so maybe give yourself a break and just do what you can. I coach on line on skype of course, but I'm not pushing you to come to me and pay for help, but I'd need to know all the details before trying to help you more, so it's up to you. Maybe just 'have a go' but if your a professional actor or aiming to be, well I'm a coach, and get in touch but not here (as I miss messages here often) but through the 'Contact' page on my website (www.Windsor-Cunningham.com) or my direct email (jwcactor@yahoo.com) But I charge.
