On another point, the Womens game in England is has the most biased TV coverage I have seen anywhere. They cherry pick the the games from the top 4 sides every week, Arsenal, Chelsea, City and United, this deliberately falsifies the standards of the WSL. Often on the womens WSL show we see a panel of all females but it appears they (Sky) increasingly squeeze a female ex footballer or commentator into coverage of a PL game. Listen to Annabel Croft (Tennis) speak vice women in football. Different universe.
Yes, the women on the panel sabotaged each other to a degree at the end there by shouting over one another. But what they *_didn't_* do was actually *_lose_* the argument, which was that football is the same game with the same rules (just like hockey, tennis or basketball), Barton's line of reasoning being *_"have you ever been tackled at full speed?"_* He lost the argument _right there_ all by himself. Of _course_ the majority in the comments section appear to be in support of him, which proves nothing other than most sane people have got better things to do with their time. I watched a Joey Barton interview on another yt channel earlier (which brought me here) where you see Barton try to extrapolate beyond that *_central_* point made here, stringing together every prejudice he can, not one of them related _to_ it, including female commentators on other sports, trans-women in female power sports¹, anti-vax nonsense, _'anti-wokeness,'_ ...the whole Mat Le Tissier-style playbook. Everything, that is, *_except_* that central argument for which he has no coherent retort. And then he goes (in relation to female footy pros): *_"I'm better...stronger...faster"_* without irony...fantasising about pretending to be a trans woman and playing against women. I kid you not. The guy is _'troubled',_ shall we say. [¹] NB: I personally think trans-women *who have been through male puberty* should *_not_* be competing in elite women's power sports. Probably the only thing we can agree on. The good news is that the main sports bodies are some distance from acquiescing to anything of the sort.

Agreed. The elephant in the room is also that we've all grown up playing with other men, watching with other men, going to the pub with other men. It's the nature of the game as we know it. Hearing a female voice scream over the mic when the ball hits the back of the net just ruins the experience unfortunately 😢
Exactly the point I made in my post, female presenters and commentators have just as much a place in any sport including mens football if they can ask the right questions and describe factually what is happening in an entertaining way. The role of the pundit is usually the professional insight from a player or manager, at this point woman can not talk with authority on mens football, neither can 99% of men who have never kicked a ball at the top level. That's all Joey had to articulate but sadly allowed himself to get blindsided.
Yeah but that's more of an awareness thing. I think Joey's too frustrated to know the difference. Joey's main point is still somewhat valid. What's more frustrating is that MOST pundits will comeout against Joey despite probably agreeing with him in secret

Joey certainly has a point. The mens game is being saturated more and more each year by female commentators, I am sure there are many men, just as, if not more qualified to fill these rolls but are being overlooked to fill quotas and I'm sure they would love a chance to do these jobs. I have a Mother, a Sister and a Daughter and I adore all of them and want nothing but the best for them, this isn't about sexism it's about fairness.

Absolutely, most of the Play by play and presenters are more like journalists. Word smiths. But co-com, who is bringing the analysis has to be well versed in the sport. I hole heartedly agree with joey. I can't remember the last time I sat and watch a pre match, half time and full time analysis of a game. I've noticed that a lot of the female pundits tend to just jump on the back of what the more experienced men say. I have fallen massively out of love with sitting and watching it because of it. Just look at hoe good Gillette soccer Saturday was. How good it was for years and years. Then they sack all the old panel who where absolutely fantastic to watch and replace them all with either women or a black person. Joey is right it's all become a box ticking exercise and it's destroying the experience.
Wholeheartedly, a hole
Used to watch soccer Saturday religiously. You couldn't pay me to watch that tripe now.
The World has gone crazy....platforming someone like Barton
Finally someone is brave enough to say what we all think
brave? hes just wanting some attention from incels
Meanwhile, Pearl doesn't think

Brave lol attacking young women having a go. More like gutless & weak, or as they say misogynistic
why do people like you think everyone shares your narrow minded world view. No numbnuts, we don't all agree with Bartons BS. Maybe if he hadn't of made the stupid comment about knitting he might look less of prick. But its just misogyny pure and simple.
Good on you, Joey! Thank you on speaking out on this nonsense! The majority absolutely agree with you!!
Pearl and Joey are spot on, were at the stage where men feel like we can't support Joeys comments on social media because were being followed by friends family and co workers and the word sexist gets thrown at anyone with an opinion on the sport we all love. This country is in a really bad place
What words of wisdom did airhead pearl give? She’s as feminist as Andrew Tate. Always has to be controversial for clicks. Disappointed piers is still sticking with her giving her track record.
I have no one in real life who would pull me in anything that I wouldn’t say out loud or in the inter webs
Totally agree, there talking about woke diversity and inclusion to please this pathetic nations woke agenda! Cricket has gone the same way, there not talking from experience there just repeating what men have said in parrot fashion!
Completely agree..The womans game has 90 percent woman as pundits,,, the mens game has about 50 percent woman as pundits So it is obviously not a meritocracy.. I hardly ever even watch the football on tv anymore...The banter isn't the same as it use to be. It's as if everyone is walking on egg shells
You can't say it on social media, but you can say it on a UA-cam video, where friends, family, co workers and the rest of the world can? 🤔🤷♂️
It is ridiculous how people are publicly dragged for speaking the truth
Because the world is run by those who specialise in lies to benefit those at the top
I’m so happy someone has spoke up on this. I been watching loads of football over 30 years and lately all I hear is women pundits and commentators and it’s completely ruining our game .😢
Do what i do turn it off or turn the sound down

is it though? how does a woman talking about a game ruin it? what about Motson or jim white or any other non professional footballer commentators?

Best thing Joey has ever said. Fair play, here comes all the agenda driven do gooders
I'm against female commentary in football matches. Not because of gender, but because they're not witty or articulate like the season male commentary and they have high pitched voices which becomes grating. Funny thing is, I've watched tennis religiously from 2006 - 2021 roughly and half the commentary is done by women (even in the mens game), but they're all 45yrs+ old and have gravitas in their voice. Listen to Annabel Croft (Tennis) speak vice women in football. Different universe.
Calling people who disagree with your opinion ‘agenda driven do gooders’ is quite the arrogant statement. I’d hope you realise how foolish you sound. Do you know this madman’s background?
That's exactly how i refer to them now, agenda pushers. Because nobody in their right mind would be backing the lunacy that this country has become, unless they have a personal vendetta against men.

@@lawtonify if your a woman…….NO!
As a Sunderland supporter im obviously not a Joey Barton fan.. but I can honestly say he is absolutely spot-on here!
Joey and Pearl were the only ones talking any sence in the debate, it's a crazy phenomenon but at least its being debated and somewhat pushed back in the UK before being allowed to get extreme. enforcing gender equality within professional sports is dangerous and without people like Joey Barton calling bullshit on the woke lefties, this will become outrageous the same way it has in America.
The sad thing about this is that even though he’s absolutely on the nose with facts, we live in a world where “feelings” speak louder than facts.
Wow
What an insight
Except for the fact that he didn't offer any facts and seemed to be operating primarily on vibes. When challenged or asked to clarify his logic he couldn't do it. Furthermore, he contradicted himself numerous times in the same segment. Joey just couldn't seem to get his story straight. He couldn't explain why a woman who's played the sport, studied sports journalism, has years of broadcasting experience is unqualified or a "diversity hire". Meanwhile an old fart with not pro professional sports experience is more qualified. He simply could not square that circle other than to harp on the fact that men's sports are different. Okay, well if a random dude with no professional sports experience and a journalism degree can learn the culture, customs and tempo of male sports...why can't a woman? This isn't rocket science we're talking about here.
@@mg.5968 The reason is he was the main commentator who's job was to describe the game. The woman are being brought in as co commentators and co commentators always take the roll as the expert, and analysts when they have never played a second of the mens game. Not rocket science, mate. It's blatently diversity hiring at the expense of quality.
@@mg.5968He said those women who learn that are fine.
But most women who commentate only get the job because they’re a woman.
He did mention a fact. And that is that men and women’s game isn’t the same.
It’s on a completely different level. That’s a FACT
@@mg.5968 I agree he argued his point badly, but so have you. You're describing the role of Martin Tyler or John Motson, who are commentators; they simply describe the action as someone who has a pleasing voice and a good diction. Co-commentators are ex-footballers who are there to provide their expert opinion, and no woman can have an expert opinion because their standard of football is tantamount to Sunday League quality. I think there's one female commentator, and they just sound like a 12-year-old boy - it's not engaging
Blown away by how well Joey articulated himself here. Should be proud Joey, keep up the good fight brother
He articulated himself on par with a 5 year old. Lots of waffle, indirect, and stuck on repeat.
He said the women’s is 30 years old is factually incorrect, he can’t correctly name the Lionnesses manager, or recall what trophy they recently won. Why is he talking about women’s football when he knows nothing about it? He’s violating his own rule 🤣🤣🤣

It's not just men who agree with Joey.
Joey is 1000% correct. He's not saying that 1 or 2 expert female pundits would be an issue, but all the females being thrown in for tokenism or "views" is the problem.

Who did?
Who the fucks wrexham.
By denying tokenism doesn’t exist Bianca and the woman in the red dress proved Joeys point. He’s 100% correct in what he says….woman’s game is totally different to men’s, attractive “influencer” woman are promoted to commentator positions they don’t have the experience for and the best person for the job isn’t getting picked
What about alan smith, and all the male commentators, why am i not hearing your dumbasses complaining about them? Did they play the game?
Well said
Watching football is painful now. It used to be fun. Woke (identity politics) is about creating this division and they are winning. Now if you say you don't enjoy women commentators or their poor, unknowledgable pundity, your opinion is ridiculed and you're instantly labelled as a woman hater (misogynist). My wife dislikes the female punditry as much as me and all my mates, is she a women hater? Or just a football fan paying a subscription who is sick of the fact woke broadcasters have ruined the mens football coverage?
The recent Liverpool v Sheffield Utd game was ruined by the two female commentators. I felt like I was being nagged by two banshees for 90 minutes. Sometimes, there are more female presenters on some footy shows and it’s fricking annoying. Joey is spot on and should be applauded for his opinion. 👏🏽
Glad someone else mentioned that game, ruining the game.

I am becoming anti everything there pushing, women to be in everything, and as for adverts,Im beginning to think I must be in another country.Barton has an opinion and, I would suggest, speaks for what a lot of people think, including women.

Football's also 'ruined' for me - but for different reasons altogether; like fans being treated like shit. Usually by men.

That actually happened last season when west ham scored a game winning goal in the europa conference league final and two ladies were the commentators for a global company

@danfermouse_
By that logic John Matson shouldn't have commentated on football since he never played football?
It’s quite simply a different game. Slower, less skilled and not as much pressure. I want to hear from men who have played at the pinnacle of the game, no woman has played at the pinnacle of football.
Piers is a football fan, he knows that Joey Barton is spot on here but he is just ticking boxes just to debate him.
Well said Joey. You are absolutely correct.
Everyone I know who watches Football, including myself, feels the same as Joey does. Respect to him for speaking the truth.
It’s not the truth its a misogynist opinion. Problem is joey Barton just isn’t that good at being a pundit and because he hasn’t been successful in that field or indeed successful as a manager, he is trying to blame everyone else around him
@@___anaks41 Misogyny is hatred of women. Nothing he is saying refers to that. He is pointing out what most of us know is true, which is there is a deliberate agenda going on. It is clear and obvious and in your face 24/7. Instead of using buzzwords, try to discern better. It doesn't even matter that it is him that said it, or where his career has or hasn't been. Anyone of us could have said it, he just happens to be in the public eye so had more reach to be heard & if there was no truth in it, it would not create so much backlash.
