There's no getting away from the fact that the Hyundai ix35 is a distinctive-looking car -- its tall suspension, and prominent grille and headlamp combination help it turn heads wherever it goes. Crucially, the ix is 10cm longer than its rival the Nissan Qashqai, and as a result there's lots of room inside. The dashboard is clearly laid out and the car's fixtures and fittings feel solidly made. Premium trim cars offer climate control, heated leather seats, automatic wipers and a panoramic glass roof as standard, as well keyless entry. There are four engines on offer, including a powerful 134bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel
Ever noticed that "ix35" is "sexi" in reverse! =))
Those guys that commented on the Hyundai IX35 some what 2/3years ago should reconsider it has one of the best diesel turbo engines combined with excellent fuel economy. One of the best small/mid SUV ever built
yeah it's a great car
The interior of this car is crap, cheap plastics in the dash and everywhere, fake leather (which in sunny places where i live it s the worst you can have) and if you choose cloth it seems you are sit on a chainsaw. I bought Subaru XV instead, better engine and interior, and real 4x4.
I'm not sure if I like Hyundai but I am 100% sure that I like to watch Rebeca:)
I am Croat, I think I should know.. War was never on Serbian ground. Serbia attacked with JNA (Yugoslavian army) Croatia and Bosnia. They didn't have their own army because they sent everyone to JNA. Croats had to steal tanks, rifles, even planes from JNA. Serbia wanted to control everything in Yugoslavia thats why other countries wanted to back out peacefuly but Serbs didn't let them and they started war by occupying Vukovar. You have a bad History teacher...
Next to Rebecca, every car looks tall ;-)
Hyundai is sure bringing some good quality cars to the market and what is really pleasant is that they are not overpriced like the European big names..
Love my car! Highly suggest it! Highly affordable for an suv
47mpg is the optimal they achieved whilst testing it, driving incredibly economical. You'll never get that when driver as a consumer.
Very good Suv. Practical, Spacious, Good Looking, Powerful and Reliable. What more do you want from a vehicle!!
Wow, Hyundai have really upped their game, nice looking, well built, good value and seem to be listening to their customers :o) Other car comanies should take note :o) Nice review too :o)
I sat in the back of one a few weeks ago, I'm 6'1" and I was comfy. not too bad at all
Very good looking car in its class but it needs turbo petrol engine.
5 year warranty? Hmmm, in Croatia all it comes with 7 years.
This is the car in walking dead I love the movement
Wait wasn't this car in the walking dead
Astriker Yeah it was, Shane drove it.
@@paulwilson6920 Was it a good car ?
Turn IX35 upside down... what do you see? ;)
Diesel engine is only worth it if you're travelling a lot on the highway, otherwise in city usage the dpf will clog, the dual mass fywheel will die if you're shutting down the engine before it is reaching optimal temperature while the turbo can also fail if you're shifting at a too low rpm range, just like in case oc rush hours. Did I mentioned that the deposited soot on the exhaust manifold can not only kill the turbo and the dpf but the fuel injection system also? The fuel economy and decent torque of a turbo diesel is remarcable but the maintenance is a downside because it is expensive. A new turbo is 1000 euro, a new dpf is 500 euro, a new fuel injection system is somewhere between 1000 - 1400 euro while a dual mass flywheel is 500 euro or more. I don't know why the hell did all these auto jurnalists forget to tell these informations before recommanding a diesel... The recipe is simple: city = petrol, ev or hybrid, highway = diesel
Zoltan Benedek Also fuel economy for diesels is low until they get hot, after approx 10 to 15 miles or 20 mins plus in colder weather. I drive a Nissan NV200 that gives 25mpg town work because never gets hot. This should be giving closer to 50mpg if driven on motorway etc...all diesels are only economical when doing a reasonable run
I think Mat should stick to doing the car reviews! My sister bought a brand new iX35 1.7 CRDi 115 Premium at the start of January 2012 and so far it's been ok. The fuel economy is poor but once the engine loosens up it should get better! First gear turbo lag is shocking too. Finally the interior overhead light broke after 1 month and there's a rattle coming from under the dash.
Although I'm not from the UK, trust me, leather is not standard on a Hyundai.
I seriously dont understand why we dont have many diesel cars in the US. They get such good mpg and are so practical
in my country it's called the Tucson and comes in 2.0 or 2.4.
That's what I thought. You pay a bit more at the pump, but the return is crazy. Diesel motors are a bit louder, but that's a small price to pay for the efficiency.
What is the ground clearance? It look high 😊👍
she's not a good reference for interior space, she's a small person
suprised you didnt mention the spare wheel. very functional, especially when stranded with kids dogs or wife etc.
it seems that everywhere where Rebeca sits in the back its loads of leg room....perhaps she should mention she is small in hight ... yes she is avarage female 166cm but most of the guys are at least 175 cm so i doubt the car is so spacious for standart adults or rathe big adults
in romania as standard we don't have leather or heated seats
My dream caaaaaaaaaaar.
This was not a car review, it was a car advertisement 😂
Please do a review of the new Volvo models when they come out. You haven't done one since the facelift, and soon ( 1 month maybe ) there will be much better engines, and a new automatic gearbox. Pleasseeee! :D
Fair point, I like her as a reviewer but using a 5 foot 4 (and a half!) lady as the measuring stick for rear seat adult passengers isn't the best test. Relevant for kid and younger teenager space but not if you regularly carry adult males.
The lack of boot space crosses it off my shopping list.
thanks.I really like this car!
I LOVE HYUNDAI
Sorreh, in here. its only called a tucson, never heard of i35x its ix35,,, btw ix35 reads SEX! in upside down XD
I must say she must be blind I personally found the back of the hyundai to be very small for a jeep and very hard seats. Also the sat nav was very bad quality as most of the rest of the car.
How exactly are European cars overpriced? And anyway, what would you know about european rivals that this car competes against? Nothing, I thought so.
I wish there was a way to buy a diesel car overseas and have it shipped to you. That would be alot of money though.
And if you got 1500 pounds in your budget that buys you one trip to SWALLOW-field
Isn't it better wen reviewing the back seat to put the front seat in its normal position? For girls Rebecas size its Ok, but how about men around 1,85-1,95m tall?
I have ix35 2012, it does have a reverse camera but the are no sensors why?
Dont quite agree with the small boot space, and dont understand the comparison with a seven sitter. None of the cars in the same segment have third row sits. (or am i wrong?)
35mpg is high consumption by my standards for a diesel to be honest.
To any Americans with regards to ford in Europe: ford is designed and made in GERMANY and our cars come slightly better equipped and with better build quality because Americans don't care how the inside of their car looks.
I just bought it and I'm picking it up on Monday, CAN'T BLOODY WAIT! Really really smooth car!
How has it been?

I got to drive one of these the other day and I HATED every single second of it. To me the steering is dull and lifeless, the suspension is bouncy, the wing mirrors are the size of dinner plates so cause a lot of high speed wind noise, the engine is totally unrefined even by diesel standards, and the rev band is stupidly narrow, so I was constantly changing gear. I'd sooner sell a body part to get the extra money for a Mazda CX-5 than buy one of these.
WHERE THE H IT"S MATT!?!?!?! I MISS HIS ENERGIC REVIEWS.
WHY dont you guys do 1 review each !!!! (annoying)
that's because ix35 it's called in europe and brazil, in the US it's called Tucson.
"the two outer seats have been fixed with ISOFIX". Why the center one doesn´t get it? I would assume that the center position would be the optimal one for a small child who needs a child seat, isn´t it?
Thumbs up if you think this car is perfect for getting away from zombies! (The Walking Dead FTW)
if the one reviewed was the base model in the UK... I'm jealous. We don't get telescopic steering wheel, sunroofs, no leather in the base model in Canada... What the hell man. But we have a 2.4L petrol 176hp? engine instead...
my mom have that car and the space in the back is not that large.
Silke de witte so she sits in the boot then? Cool
Couldn't care less about the car. Rebecca... oooohhh... Rebecca...
this hyundai ix 35 looks plastic and cheap but it is not cheap, I prefer to buy the Mazda CX-5 or Nissan qashqai for almost the same money.
I drove one for a 60 mile round trip and it wasn't a car I could get excited about. I found it quite boring. At motorway speeds, the steering felt a bit twitchy. I had a diesel one and in top gear at 50mph, it pulled pretty well up to 70mph quite brisly. Inside it was quite roomy and had quite a bit of kit to go with it. The keyless entry and push button start was a novelty and a neat touch. All in all, not a bad car, but not exciting. Reminds me of a Ford Kuga.
I have a Kia Sportage 2012 an EX model and I think it's way better than this one.
In this particular case, there is lots of space - I'm 187cm and can sit behind the driver's seat, after setting it up for me.
The Walking Dead
The ix 35 is very cool car, I like it!
It would appear that every Hyundai tested so far this year has had a very favourable review. Have Hyundai turned a corner?
I feel that the ix35 has the following issues
If you want a 4 x 4 hyundai, the Sante Fe is not that much more expensive but is a better all round car.
If you want a big family car that isn't 4 x 4 then whats wrong with the i40 estate. It is actually cheaper to buy / run and is bigger on the inside.
I think this is a brilliant review I really do. I've said on some of your past reviews you were coming across as though you were reading what you were saying like an autocue. Well it's not at all like that here. Don't know if you ever read the comments Rebecca but well done this is a great review! Back of the net!! lol! :)
She's ok but she's got no emotion and her words don't roll out as well as Mat's :/
Rebecca looks like she cried before doing the review. Look at her eyes at the start.
Turn around "ix35" and you'll get "53x!" (sex!)
no it doesn't , kia comes with 7 years, but hyundai models "only" have 5 years warranty
hi there,
Did she mean 45 or 35 mpg. How can it go from a claimed 47mpg down to 35mpg. That's a big difference?
Does this car have a top tether point ? 2010 model
yeah some countries tuscon like saudi arabia and other countries is ix35
Are the Tucson and the ix35 different models? Have a hard time distinguishing them, such as with the ASX and the Outlander...
The Tucson is the same thing as the ix35.
In South Korea, the country of origin, they called it the "Tucson ix" in the release.
Too much like a commercial, then a review.
I realy can smell and feel that cheap plastic :(
I could wear her as a key holder, how can she measure interior space? I mean, really...
Rebecca how tall are you? I didnt have much room in ix35 and I'm 186cm in height...
WOW... i`m lovin this car xD
Personally I think it's under the skin clone, the Kia Sportage, looks a lot more attractive.
I checked another review and I didn't found the boot size is really that bad.
Some ppl say its spacious, some say its not, whcih one ? ol
She's just a presenter so it's probably not her own opinion.
Pause at 1:11 it says Swallowfield on the navigation.
thats a heavy weight reason to buy it! LOL im gonna talk about this car at home :P
It's the Walking Dead's car :D
isnt that tucson
they reviewed the highlander model! you cant get a sun roof in base model OR elite model
this SUV looks very plastic like almost every hyundai product
Mat was sick that day and sent his girlfriend to do the review... Not bad!
In the United States we still have the Tucson. Is this the same vehicle?
For every American car there is a better European car
And a class action, immense reparations
Compensation of a vicious lie
did she mentioned the ride and handling? i must've misssed that.
Won't be my next car, as my next car will be my first
Although they look alike, they're different models :)
You say UK roads are bumpy :D :D :D F*KI*G KiDding me!?
Whoops! Yup its SEX!
Oh, I am 5'11'', Rebecca's height it perfect for me! uh...lalala :D
And it's great for running over flash eating zombies.
ممكن استورد السيارة من الخارج ومعى خطاب إعاقة
Hol... sh@t , hater got to hate . Good review Rebeca!
Pause at 0:23
PSSSSSSTT ~~~~ It looks like a HYUNDAI TUCSON ??
What's the L/100km on the dashboard in the highway, and the ground clearance of this? Beca is as amazing looking as her reviews! Good job!
the sportage is better.the ix35 looks like a hippo
rebeca and mat should do a review together THUMB UP :DDD
