Seeing all those people lining up to see space through a guy's telescope makes me have a little more love for humanity
I saw Saturn the same way at a county fair years ago!
i just know he had to be so happy during that
Cuz Saturn was at opposition that night, so he thought he would share it with everyone❤
I was in that line. When it was my turn to view I ran up, snatched the telescope, and sprinted away into the back alleys. Nobody does wholesome on my streets, not on my watch.
What's more impressive is actually getting a good shot of it in what appears to be the middle of the city. (Most) Telescopes don't do too well when there's a bunch of ambient light nearby, especially with flood lights in front of the business not 20ft away!
That robot tourism idea is kind of funny, but I can guarantee people are going to be tripping over and generally annoyed with them. Lots will end up with a virtual tour of a garbage can.
I've seen YT vids of virtual rickshaw tours.
I thouroughly get your point on the tour robots 😄
Would be cool to pick up a tourist and put them in the trash can 😂
I guarantee I’ll start walking around with a hammer if some genius thinks we’re gonna deal with that bullshlt.
I picture them hiring some guy to walk with the robots as well.
As for smashing the robots with a hammer, you might want to think about all the people that are homebound and handicapped that this would be an amazing experience for instead of doing that. 🦼🦽
Yes, I kicked one into the road in New York
Those tourist robots looks like a lot of fun if you're controlling them, but to ran into them on the street looks annoying as hell xD
i'd give it like a week tops before locals are messing with them. from this clip i'm annoyed enough with them to kick them into the road when i see them. it only takes one bad apple to spoil the bunch and we got two right here in the first pick. not a good sign for the harvest if you understand my meaning.
That's why it's fun
Yeah, as somebody who lives in a popular tourist destination, that triggered my fight response.
Thankfully, we're way too mountainous for anyone to pull that off. Human tourists have a difficult enough time as it is
Thats not going to last very long
There definitely should be a supervisor that would cut the users off in case of a mischief.
If it lowered the stress in your life I would 100% be down for weekly dose of Internet
I remember watching these as a kid. It was a time when either there was no tiktok or it wasn't that popular. My friend recommended both thinks. Now this came up mikd suddently. I most see this channel again
It aint even daily anyway cuz 😂
@@csar07. yeah. And if he wants to go from 3 a week to 1 a week and call it weekly dose of Internet I think that's cool

The man sharing his telescope was so wholesome 😢 kind people exist
Yes, it's kind... but also a great way to get pinkeye!

Our university"s telescope was down for repairs during a major event, when Mars was super close to Earth. So, a bunch of neighbors with super powerful telescopes came and set up on top of the Observatory for the public to get at least a taste of the awesomeness.
@@TreeFreak That's so cool!
The way the alligator/crocodile opened their jaw as if they were offended by the guy running away was hilarious.
that big girl just popped up out of nowhere too. like, i was watching the clip thinking "man, what if a gator just appeared" but i wasn't expecting it to happen! lol
felt more like he was laughing about scaring the guy away
"Oi! Get outta here! This is my pond!"
"Ah! Why I never! "
The croc got offended by the Crocs
As a lifeguard, I can confirm that we're there to help, and yell at kids.
I still have PTSD from childhood whenever I hear a whistle, thinking I'm about to get yelled at by a lifeguard
I'm there for the kids too.
*awkward head sniffing*
@@forevergogo okay bud
God''s work my friend
Yelling at kids was the only reason i got the job!
I love the idea of using a remote robot to tour faraway places! I hate the idea that some people would just use them to screw with people.
Does anyone know how to access these?
The man with the telescope looks so proud to be sharing his love for sky gazing 🥺💙
As a lifeguard, I completely understand with what they are doing. It looks easy but you have to stay focused.
I hope you also noticed how her shoulders were perpendicular to the water and she wasn’t preforming her bottom scan at the end of her rove. Maintaining your 10-20 is important :)
Could you explain why that is so effective?
Darwin says if people who can't swim get in deep water, then you should just let nature take it's course. It's not good for society to keep weak and stupid people alive.
Baby not downing - Baby not downing -Baby not downing - Baby not downing - Baby not downing - Baby not downing - Baby not downing - Baby not downing - Baby in distress
@@vollkornkeks9177 This idea is to keep the 10-20 rule. no more than 10 seconds should pass before you rescan an area you've just looked at. the 20-part of it is that a rescue (or getting there) should take no more than 20 seconds. the scanning technique helps you not miss spots and ensure you're keeping under 10 seconds to scan an entire area.
Not a lifeguard, just remember this from safety diving learning. Real lifeguards pls correct me / add.
I love how the dude was wearing crocs and an actual crocodile appeared
As an Ellis lifeguard, the reason why we have so many procedures that may seem weird is because it works! and thanks for the media coverage bc now I can insert a comment about how much better we are than red cross lifeguards. Ellis was a guy who made his own lifeguarding company after red cross took a major L
Ellis guard here too. What's the story? I've never heard it.
@@twitchymango4881 basically this guy was unconscious in the corner of the pool and because the red cross guards weren't scanning properly, they didn't even see him until break. At that point, if he was resuscitated he would probably end up living with permanent brain damage, but instead of opening his airway to check for spontaneous breathing they didnt because based on their red cross training they werent supposed to open the airway for "fear of causing a spinal injury." Waited like 15 minutes for EMS to arrive, and at that point he was like completely dead. Super sad.
I'm sorry but those robots at 0:50 look like an INCREDIBLE nuisance to locals - the last thing my city needs are twitch streamer controlled robots barging into restaurants and harassing passerbys
Not everyone in the world is a twitchstreamer
my thoughts exactly tbh
those things would last all of 3 minutes in the US
@@GrillbysOfYeah, but the people in the video were already being annoying. Anyone is capable of that. Who is going to fix those chairs? Whoever owns the place, not the people with the robots. I would be so aggravated if random, anonymous people just kept coming into my shop to push things around or over.
If it were an accident, that's totally understandable. But it seemed they were having fun just pushing them around and in general, being a nuisance.
I mean they paid to do it so I guess its aight
Love how the choking guy couldn't even stay mad.
Even he was like, "Nice shot."
if the dude didn't walk around with his mouth open, he wouldn't have choked. but it was a good shot.
he could've died.. still nc shot.. could be one shot one kill..
That's why I say hey man nice shot.
Better way to not choke is to not walk around with a ball in your mouth and have your friend pretend to shoot it.
@petermilligan7210 You can literally see the ball going from the gun into his mouth.
The guy sharing his telescope seemed so happy and proud 😊
get off the street!
Ellis guards are real lifeguards!!! You have no idea about the training they have to go through! They deserve so much respect!
As someone who's had a bad experience with alligators, never turn your back to the water or stop paying attention for a minute. They're faster than you think! Stay Safe 🐊
As an alligator, I can say this is pure rubbish - we are too slow to catch fish, so please just give us what you catch.
My experience with alligators is that they're fast to disappear if they see humans.
@@Primalxbeast Some of them I guess
All I know is, they chomp
@@johannlo1503 lol
For people who want more info on the lifeguard thing, the Ellis scanning pattern is a form of observing the pool to ensure what they call a 10-20 save. 10 sec to find a victim(drowning, unconscious etc.) and 20 to get to the guest. When guards get tested they must find the guest within 10 and save them in 20. We are taught to scan the entire pool(top, middle, bottom) and that’s why that girls head was moving so fast. You may also see them point their fingers and kinda “trace” the pool. That’s just part of protocol done either every 5 min(usually) or when switching lifeguards to scan in and out of your zone.
FYI all the above info is only for Ellis trained lifeguards, I do not know the protocol for Red Cross or any other lifeguard corporation. I only worked as an Ellis guard.
Thanks for sharing, sounds so interesting.
You can do the same with just moving your eyes?
Every 5 minutes? So if you drowned within those 5 minutes you don't get the amazingly calculated 10/20 save but just a regular save?
Why it called Ellis?
You could scan it with your eyes. Moving your head like that just looks ridiculous.
The line for Saturn was so heartwarming. Line for Saturn also sounds like a metal band.
Dude honestly you deserve the entire internet to be subscribed to you you’re the best content creator on this platform in my opinion you have no drama whatsoever related to any of your videos you keep my hope alive in this world when there’s none around for me to see I look here! It brings me to joy to see a lot of your videos do whatever you please with your upload schedule what ever suits you man!!!
When I worked as a lifeguard at a waterpark the scanning she was doing was also used by supervisors to easily check if we are actually scanning our area
😁😁I was thinking the Management could regularly send in a little 'sh*t' of a kid to perk up the LifeGuard's attention and problem solving. Not too much to upset patrons, but enough to make them appreciate the Lifeguard.✌
Yep even though looking looking with your eyes is easy you have to show that your attentive with moving your head
same, sitting on a chair in the sun for a couple hours you can easily get tired and drift off or space out, keeps you alert as well as shows others the same
Shout out to all the lifeguards, it looks like such a stressful job. I think the general perception is that they just hang out by the pool all day, but in reality they have such a huge responsibility, and part of that is not zoning out, getting bored and missing a serious situation.
Trust me, there's nothing harder than not zoning out on the stand. In fact I had to learn to stay half zoned out because I couldn't learn to not zone out
Lifeguard for almost 5 years, yes it’s stressful, especially at the huge waterpark that I was at where we used the Ellis system
Dude id die if i guarded at a big park like that one. Only small local pools for me thanks!
I've done a half dozen water parks in my time and in general the lifeguards that are manning rides and such all look bored out of their minds. But the team watching the wave pool look like cats in a room full of rockers. When the waves start they are all business all the time. 400 swimmers of all sizes and abilities all bounced around by 6 foot waves. Lifeguards all seem very relieved when the waves stop and they are still dry.
It's not stressful it's the most chilling job to sit around in summer on a pool all day and even get paid
Lmao as an Ellis lifeguard, I never thought the scanning would be the subject of a Daily Dose video
3 days a week lets gooo! i love your videos so much and that news made me so happy!

So, for any of you wondering about the lifeguard thing, we have to physically move our heads and everything or we fail what are called audits. And if we fail audits then the pool closes down for at least a week while every single lifeguard has to go through training again. The idea is that you can see everywhere in the pool within 10 seconds and get to them in 20 seconds. We also have baby dolls that they’ll throw in if you aren’t scanning. And if you don’t recognize it and whistle within 10 seconds you get sent home for the day.
I understand the need for intense training but it would seem like there's an abundance of lifeguards if they can just send you home for failing an audit. If that's the case, why not have more on duty?
@@TheMainMan. I think it's more about the principal. That sets such a high bar that every single person there needs to be on top of their game, both singularly and as a team, or else the entire system fails. When we're talking about human life, especially largely children, then I can understand the precaution. Honestly I had no idea they had to be so active but it makes perfect sense after thinking about it a bit more.
@@jenkem4464 especially those largely children. Another good reason to have two on duty too.
@@TheMainMan. Because more people would result in bystander effect, if everyone jumps in at the same time, it will cause a havoc. So if 2 people is enough for the job, then 2 people is enough for the job
@@TheMainMan. - It doesn't work just having more on duty, if none of them are paying proper attention.
Those tourist robots seem like they would be super annoying if you’re a citizen. Like I get that tourists in general can be annoying, but that adds a layer of anonymity so they can just crash into stuff.
Edit: to be clear, the anonymity isn’t with the provider of the service and the buyer, it’s the fact that people are controlling faceless robots.
that's the first thing I thought when they started pushing chairs
Sameee thought. I was like who will be responsible if anything bad happens because of them. They could be worse than general tourists. I can imagine the citizen be kicking the robots though if you mess with them. Ngl it could be fun or it could be a bit handy

Typically when lifeguards do the occasional zig zag motion with their arm they are doing their 5 minute checks. The responsibilities vary between pools but I remember I had to point where I was looking while scanning the entire pool (hence the zig zag motion) and to verify that my radio was working.
The bottom sweep is to ensure that there’s no situation going on right under the guard’s feet at the edge of the pool, since that area is typically forgotten about

As a former lifeguard: that's the textbook scanning pattern, and it's honestly more of a formality than anything. Most people just scan up and down, left to right with their eyes and without their heads. Actually, when a lifeguard got in trouble, their punishment was to "bob their head" for the entire day 😂 always used to make fun of those guys.
Edit: I was a Red Cross Lifeguard, not an Ellis guard. Ellis might be stricter on their rules.
yeah we have to move our heads or else we get written up as an ellis guard
with ellis guards we can lose our license if we dont keep our 10-20
I was an Ellis guard for years, and an instructor later. Strictness varies from pool to pool. They do need to consistently scan the top, middle, and bottom of the pools, but the actual head motion isn’t too particular. I’ve found that in most tests, especially with new guards, they spend so much effort trying to visibly move their head to match the textbook pattern that their response time for drop shadow tests is consistently slower. The guards that are more experienced and test with faster times minimize the head bobbing while still keeping a good scan pattern to keep more focus on the pool and guests than on how much their neck hurts.

I’m glad his videos aren’t clickbait, he actually puts the thumbnail video first 😭👌
Great video man! 🖖
I understand the fishes pain sometimes this world is just too cruel 😂
I think that was their mate laying over on it's side - perhaps the fish wanted to join them...
Especially if your whole world is that ugly container
*Fish's
I think those fish probably aren't getting everything they need. That's usually why fish jump out of their aquaria. It's often when the water doesn't have enough dissolved oxygen, but this species could be air-breathing for all I know so IDK if that's the issue. It looks a little cramped but I presume that's a temporary container.
unfortunately, we can't just make a jump right into space and suffocate ourselves
2:23 rare wholesome moment in 2023
1:25 Us Irish call this the Harunada, a two thousand year-old tradition where we offer up our coats to the Wind God, Guinnesses. If he does not take the coat, then we are gifted a bountiful Barley harvest that year.
*Sarcasm*
2:12 lmao this reminds me of SpongeBob and Patrick stealing Sandys fur 😂😂
As a robot myself, I can confirm we are lifeguards.😂
Reading all these comments makes me wonder. I think id do really well in lifeguarding because of my adhd, im ALWAYS alert whether i want to or not so i think people with adhd could really benefit from that job lol
@@funky555try it and see how to goes
@@funky555 could work, thing is not zoning out for too long, or at least get to a point where your partially zoned out while still aware & scanning
the weird patterns are more for public pools that have different people everyday, since something can go wrong literally anywhere with zero warning, a neighborhood pool will instead have returning people so after enough time you know who the problem children are and watch them specifically while the rest just need a scan-through every now and then (given you know what to look for)
They thought that lifeguards were robots, but no! It was the robots who were the lifeguards all along!
I am not a lifeguard bot but I, too, am programmed to save drowning humans.
The way that fish just smacks against the wall like some magnet is pulling it is so comedic to me 😂
That bird was doing daylight robbery while they’re asleep.
You are a great dude dude!❤

as a lifeguard, yeah, its weird but it is insanely hard to not become complacent
can you explain how it's effective, bobbing you head up and down like that? is it just to keep you focused or what
@@whitemoonwolf13 I would like to know too, it doesnt make any sense to me lol
@@whitemoonwolf13 ellis training emphasizes a thing they call a 10/20, i'm dumb but this is what i remember. 10 seconds to scan your water, 20 seconds to respond if an emergency occurs. I thought the bobbing was arbitrary but it was much more effective for me opposed to just moving my eyeballs constantly without moving my head. Even if i tried, i can't move my eyeballs as smoothly as bobbing my head. We sweep the perimeter of the pool with our eyes starting from left to right or right to left as we're walking, and slowly zig-zag like /\/\/\/ make sure every part of the water is being monitored. The bobbing is mostly us scanning, but also a great indicator of our vigilance. A sleepy / negligent lifeguard will absolutely slack on this habitual motion. It's kind of tricky to explain but it's helped me save a lot of hyperactive kids that just rush into the pool not realizing it's deep water.
( this is mostly for waterparks with multiple entries for any pool where anything can go wrong ) but not only did this help me make sure the guests in the pool were safe, but also it helped me be aware of more than just the pool. Catching kids running when they're not supposed to, someone falling so you quick double whistle to get any nearby lifeguards to help them and make sure they're okay as quickly as possible; even if it's a minor scrape. Peripherals were big time clutch when spotting potential hazards
YES I rly admire what lifeguards do. It sounds quite draining to be so vigilant for so long
