Thank god for not complaining about the car.Like a few other vidoes i have seen on you tube. People complaining about such trivial things on their mazda 2. Good for you.Hope Gary keeps going for another 100,000 miles and keeps you happy! I think i will get me one!
Bought a 2011 Touring with 100k miles on it for $3500. Could use some suspension work, but drives relatively well. Just took it all the way up to Austin, and I can't wait to drive it all around Texas!
I have a 2011 mazda 2 touring in Green :) I got it in 2017 it had around 50,000 miles on it , now it has 168,200 and still super reliable, it's super fun to drive for sure! I just had the inner tie rods and ball joints replaced but that's all I've had to have done , the dealership put a Kenwood radio in it though as the original was killing the battery :( but I want to get a OEM radio soon to replace it , they called it the green machine but I haven't really named her yet, thinking Jellybean.
I agree with everything you said. I bought my little egg “Eggy “. in 2015 salvage. 2011 5 speed with 34k miles. I just did some major job with the steering rack and other parts. And I just got a check engine sensor. I love my Huevito. I do confessed that I abused my car. But because is so fun to drive. Great video. Congrats! On you 200K.
The Mazda2 is a great little car, especially with the manual gearbox. The engine sounds like a sewing machine - in a good way. The Mazda2 is incredibly easy to maintain too!
Yo, I bought mine in 2011 brand new. I now have over 200,000 miles on it. The radio glitched out, I used to smack it to get working, but sadly that trick doesn't work anymore. I've had very few repairs, back around 30,000 miles I had a clunk in the steering, but the dealer fixed. I've replaced the back shocks, and basic stuff like brakes, rotors etc. I run synthetic oil change it regularly, I think I changed the tranny fluid once. Mine's automatic and honestly is a hoot to drive, corners and hugs the road. It was my daily commuter up until I started working from home. Even with all the miles, I think I probably could sell it for $3000 ?? But why would I sell it... ? My headlight lenses are fogged up and I've cleaned them a few times, at this point I should order some new one's. Gary is a cool name, and so was your video! Thanks for sharing!
Hey man! I’m still rolling in my 2011 Mazda 2 from 0 miles myself! I’ve managed to keep it at 95K miles by always living close to work. What kind of maintenance would you suggest on it to keep it going? I’ve just been doing my oil changes at 5k miles. I think all I’ve ever replaced was a water pump once.
awww this was bittersweet, i just passed my test like 5motnhs ago and i went with a 1.4?? 1.35 2011 tamura with 138k on it, the only thing i think is a little dodgy is when i full lock, it tends to creek
Awesome, the answer all comes down to how the previous owner took care of it. Ours has been maintained, but it has been exposed to the elements, and dusty climates. It is a fair bit past 200k, and still on the original clutch. And has not let us down yet. $3500 in our market seems pretty reasonable. Thanks for watching!
@@EmMa-ck5wq it's doing well. Good to drive. The one thing I would say is the suspension is too hard. If you can find the mazda2 sport venture at a reasonable price it might be worth going for that one as they improved the suspension. Otherwise the AC works, the cruise control works and it's good to drive 👌👍.
@@EmMa-ck5wq my commute is in heavy traffic and I was getting 36 +mpg. So that's not bad. If you have less traffic than me it should be pretty good on fuel. The one I have has been treated with under seal at some point in it's history. This means there is no rust emerging yet on mine. The front brake lines were an advisory for corrosion on the MOT. There is about an inch or two that is not covered and so I have sanded it back and treated that with waxoyl myself to prevent any further corrosion. 👍
Hey Buddy. thanks for the vid. Just bought one for the wife who loves it and has take your advice by naming it "Marilyn". It has 105,000 miles and is in very good condition. Can I ask if you have changed the timing chain on Gary or I you running the original? Thanks again!

Your car is fine because it’s not automatic, I just bought one today because my wife’s car got stolen. We had a grab something fast $7500 completely garage kept not even surface rust on the engine tranny even the shocks nothing. 54,000 miles on it so I’m glad to hear you got 200,000 at least I know I’ll be OK for a few years I just wish you was standard . I agree with naming the car, but Gary? Nah. I'd call mine Emily. "Right, I'm just gonna have a quick go in Emily" Great to hear it's ran for 200k though, great stuff.
Naming your car? Uhh.. I've never named any of my cars, or had any desire to. Nor have I ever known anyone who has named their car, out of all my family & friends over the last 30 years. Well that I know of. Maybe its an American thing?

Thank you Toyo Kogyo. They build the best cars money can buy, and have since the 60's IMO.
You're not nuts! There's more of us like you out there!!
Moving to Texas and in the process of getting a used 2012 with 72k miles on it. Looks like a solid used car that will drive from point A to point B
i think i'll be getting a mazda, possibly a mazda 2 like gary. glad to see he made it to 200k, I hear they are reliable. and fun!
VERY reliable and welcome to the club!
I'm saving up for my first car and I think you've convinced me. Such a lovely, wholesome review. Thanks
Bro same I found a Mazda 2 Sport nearby and I might test drive it soon
Lol I saw a nice one too. I hope I can grab it before anyone 😁
Did u buy it
Such a fantastic, solid, and reliable ride. Not buying another car for a looooong time

Brake shoes will outlast brake pads for a long time and brake drums have a higher initial clamping force than brake rotors.
I rather have pads, much easier to replace.

@@TexasTruckChannel That's strange because most have to be replaced between 80,000 to 140,000 miles...depending on how it's driven
