I live in Minnesota where we never get to see lava. Some of this was quite mesmerizing to watch. Thank u very much for shooting this and sharing. Also thanks for sacrificing you sneakers so it could be filmed also.
I saw that. The funny part was I was actually eating ravioli the first time I saw that haha. The monster was pretty epic also. Very Honorable sacrifice to the volcano gods. :)
There are many recordings of lava flows in UA-cam. Honestly said, your recordings are the best in this domain, it's beyond just filming molten rock, it's artistic with a big deal of poetry behind it. Keep up the good work Bryan, camera manufacturers should be sponsoring you in using their products to film these natural events. Thanks for sharing!!!!!
I love watching the slow formation of new land mass. And it really doesn't take that long for vegetation to take hold or for erosion to make black sandy beaches. And it puts me to sleep within minutes its so mesmerizing.
FAAANNNNN FRECKIN TASTIC!! I love watching you put things in the lava, giggity, but something about just watching it do its thing is amazing. Luv IT!! THanks for all the great angles and shots!
Wow, I am amazed! I've always wanted to see a lava flow into the water! Thank you sooo much for filming and sharing with the world!! Thumbs up and sub from Norway
This clip is awesome. Hats off to the guy who filmed it. Please be safe while shooting these dangerous thing. Its so fascinating to see.. God knows whats going inside earth and where & when its going to erupt.
Lovely, its really relaxing when you put it on fullscreen and just watch... First time you stuck camera over the edge allmost made me jump out of my chair :) Thank you for this.
this is so awesome and satisfying. I hope that in the future we have some miraculous technology that would allow people to touch lava and not get hurt, that would be so cool
Sporadic drip castle construction methods there I see. Always taking the interesting path of least resistance.... Pele (Hawaiian Volcano God) must be proud of his work today.
The cliffs looks like faces. And very Deep art! I Think there are souls going through this lava. Could you please Get more videos of cliffs like this, from different angles. That looks like faces. I wonder how it will look in the future when the Island is set..
Very observant. I've always thought many of the cooled flows draping over cliffs looked like tortured souls. Not saying they are, just they look like art. There once was a very large chunk of cooled lava that looked just like Bart Simpson. It was about the size of a car. It served as a marker for several weeks until getting covered by later flows.
lavapix I've Always seen faces in mountains, in all places! Im not a New age hippie, but i and many of my friends see it. These are more noticeable and powerful. I believe hawaii is where the core where earth is giving birth. Its the ultimate lands on Earth, there is so much facts to see it. Just so hard to get the resident visa for a swedish.
I had a very dear friend doing a shoot on Kilauea for the Discovery channel when HD had just begun. He told me he learned a valuable lesson. Never walk on hot lava with shoes (which Bobby very rarely wore) that were glued together. He lifted up his size 15 and the sole decided to stay put. Love the shots man. Bob would have too.
These days most shoes are molded so, they get all soft like a marsh mellow and deform. I always carry shoegoo with me and the silver duct tape. Had plenty of shoes soles start to slide off. My shoes are disposable. When I know a pair will be ruined, I carry an extra pair. Worked with Discovery Channel production crews over the years. Thanks on my videos and thanks for watching/commenting.
Most of it turns to rock and rolls into the depths of the ocean. A lesser amount starts sticking together and starts forming new land. Unless its a substantial flow the new land gets undercut by waves and breaks apart. Often turns to sand and starts new small black sand beaches nearby. Thanks for watching...
lavapix The lava can also form a "bench" or cliff which can collapse into the ocean with little warning. It's a good idea to be careful when walking on such a lava formation because the ground can suddenly go out from under your feet.
kansasthunderman1 Thanks....Well aware of benches etc....In short that's what I was talking about without getting into too much detail. As for new land, never ever go on it. There's no such thing as being careful when your leaving everything to luck. Its amazing the number of people I see on new land and when I tell them of the dangers they say "I'm being careful". There's no such thing on new land. In this video I'm on a solid old sea cliff that's covered by a thin fresh flow. That old cliff wasn't going anywhere. Been doing this for 23 years and have hiked the entire area 100's of times. My motto has always been "Live to shoot another day". Its on all my image bios. Thanks for commenting.....
Thanks....Not to worry, I know what I'm doing (Famous last words). It may not look like it but, safety is my main concern when out there. Only the camera was in danger. I was having a nice relaxing morning.
@lavapix I have a question is the Ropy try lava @3:44 and @1:10 coming from a surface flow or a flow coming from underground via lava tube from the volcano
BasicMonster The most common thing is tripping and falling. Outings are an avg of 15 hours not including the 5 hrs RT driving. 15-20 miles hiking. So, you do get tired, making the return hike an adventure in its own. Horrible terrain mostly. No broken bones that I know of but, some real nice deep cuts a few times. Like a shoe full of blood once after the 9 mile hike back to the car. Shin looked like I got clawed by a Tiger. Hardened lava is razor sharp like shards of glass. No biggie as I'm walking scar tissue from decades of surfing and mnt biking too. Not an adrenalin junkie but, I do like to challenge myself.

@lavapix @2:58 do you think that bit of cooled Ropy try lava looks like a kraken or the back of the head of the volcano goddess Pele with her long cooled lava hair
Mauna Loa isn't showing any signs of erupting for now. When it does, there will be little chance of getting anywhere near the flows as most will be trying to get away. Mauna Loa flows move very fast and are huge. Its also a very large volcano with most areas inaccessible. Thanks for watching...
Impressionnant !! Vous avez un sacré courage ! Merci pour ces images a couper le souffle ! Pour info température de la lave : couleur orange-rouge 1150-1300°c. Jaune - blanc 1300 a 1450 °c. Et juste noir a solide 1000° . Ça devait chauffer sec ! 😆

Usually by then any exposed skin is also getting too hot. Lots of variables. Thanks for watching...
Hi, you have not video the eruption mouth. I think hawaii is a volcanic island . so where is the mouth of its eruption so that the volcano flow to the sea??
+Giulio Imparato Not by accident. I'm always aware of everything going on around me for 1 mile or more. McKenzie Stribich Glad you like them. Thanks for watching....

I'm finding this to be my new hobbie
This is terrifying and beautiful at the same time...you gotta have balls to do this

Thanks Robert. I did sacrifice hiking shoes to get this :-) Wind blew a few things into the flow too.

Thanks Billy Bob John. I do my best. More to come from last years hikes.
I just love to watch lava dropping into oceans and create new landmass.
Oceans may take our land but lava shall rebuild.

Thanks for uploading this stuff!!
You got some real balls doing that 10/10
Amazingly therapeutic. It makes the world look like a big, powerful, living, breathing creature and Lava is the Earth's blood.

such a daring work, appreciated!!
incredible footage thank you for uploading
Your welcome and thanks for watching.
@lavapix @3:43 do you think the transition from orange to red and to black Ropy try lava is pretty cool?
Yep. It tells you the lava it cooling on the surface.
awesome takes!! u r all genious!!

Imagine using a thermal camera to see how much the water heats up, and how hot the freshly solidified lava is :D
My feet and hands work well for the solidified lava. Water is only real hot right at the flow. It quickly cools the further away you are.
@lavapix I have a question is the Ropy try lava @3:44 and @1:10 coming from a surface flow or a flow coming from underground via lava tube from the volcano
That was a shallow tube from a pahoehoe lava flow crusting over. The flows do this over and over as it crosses the flat land heading to the seacliff.
This is beautiful! 👍
🙏🏼💗
Lava looks juicy! but so dangerous!
an awesome clip, dude are you a professional?..cause I watch it so dangerous
Yes, a pro with 23+ years experience. Not an adventure for the faint of heart.
I see bro.. nice job.

Great video, your very brave, for doing that, RIP gopro
So satisfying ahhh 😌
Vertigo kicked in hard when you stuck the camera over the cliff.
the video shot at 3:24 is amazing
Thanks...Tricky to capture too due to the heat.
lavapix how close were you while filming that shot? i bet you had a selfiestick or something like that. but... must be pretty darn close.
Xingmey My feet are right there just out of the frame. Yes, had a home made 3 foot stick. So, I'm right there.
lavapix oh cool - thx for letting me know :)
this is such a great thing :D
Very cool, some day I'm going to see this for myself.
Splendid - very H. R. Giger!
@lavapix @3:52 I love to transition from orange to red and into black ropy try lava

How cool is that!! (apart from the fact it's very hot, of course ^^)
It kinda looks like sliver when cold
Nice vid by the way
speechless... amazing experience I want to be there!!!

Nice drone usage
I'd make a terrible volcanologist. "Hey what's Nate doing?" "What do you think playing with lava again."

+skullcharger887 Ha Ha, must have or they would have melted while filming parts of this video. Thanks for watching...
Do you live in Hawaii?
Yes...
Oh ok
lavapix You have to build electric station there, seems this volcano is always running ? so this is a steam engine, and can be easly transformed to electricity
Oleg Skripnyak That's what they do in Iceland, heat, power and hot water.
segura2112 I don't know how they do in Iceland, but surely it can be done by just putting steel tubes with water into the lava. 7:40 the devils shit 😂😭
i laughed way too hard at that

That litte bit of the camera melting, it melted just from sitting around filming this? How did the heat effect you?
Amber Fraser Its pretty hot. I have to drink lots of fluids and got a few flash burns. (like an instant bad sunburn) Could only be in certain spots a few seconds. When the camera shakes at times, its me wincing from the heat and the wind. The camera housing melted while filming several clips. The camera its self shut down due to the heat. Thanks for watching.
A cuantos grados sale este material
thanks alot u got me a A on my project and i dont get held back really thanks
Glad to hear the video helped you out.
Did you skydive
What does it smell around these lava eruptions?
Lava flowing on lava has a distinct smell to it. Nothing bad. I can easily locate fresh flows that aren't glowing by following the smell. Can't really compare the smell to anything else in the world to give you an idea. Then it varies depending on whether its going into the ocean or burning something like trees etc...The worst is when it flows on blacktop roads. Very toxic. What ever its flowing on, it takes on the characteristics of that substance with its smell in a some what distorted way.
Thanks for watching......

can you try to cook something on the lava
damn nice video
7:30 lava shit :P
too much chipotle?
Around 9:40 you can see a face formed where the lava cooled in a pile.
absolutely mesmerising, I just wanna poke it with a stick.
