Thank you! It certainly needed some love, but I think it will be a good mower for someone for at least a few years to come. I hope things are well your way.
@freedommowers420 I just replaced the mower deck engagement cable on my craftsman ys 4500 mower And working on the 5h.p I/ c Briggs and Stratton engine I won on eBay auction trying to find out what is going on with the 8 h .p I/ c Briggs and Stratton horizontal shaft engine it's not running right
I bought one of these and it currently parked out back, but the courage had a cracked block so now it has a 17.5 hp command single. One command single will out live 3 courage singles or more.
I still have mine and still running strong. Had to change blades and belts on it and do a bypass of the gas input valve solenoid on the carb because it went open. The drive belt changing was OK. What I did was fan first then engine then idlers. The real pain was getting the deck back on but I put the two quick releases on first and then the yoke thing on the front.the engine pulley luckily was loose and slid right down.
Plenty more to come. I greatly appreciate the support. It came out pretty nice from where it started. Just wanted to get it in decent shape for someone on a budget.
Hy Alex, hope your skin is fine again after the surgery! Thanks for sharing this video with us and I send all the best wishes from far away in Germany 🇩🇪👍😘🕯️🕯️🕯️
@ I press all thumbs 👍 The most important thing is to remove all suspicious areas as early as possible. Sleep well now and have a great day and let the mowers sing 🎤🍀🌞🧑🎄
Outstanding transformation! 👍🏻 I don't know what the market is like where you are but here in Central Massachusetts that's a solid $700 mower come spring time!
I think it will sell quickly around here, too! I just don’t want to make anyone feel like they are getting swindled with the rust repair so I’ll let it go for cheaper but not going to give it away for a fully functioning mower.
Just got a old Murray rider and going to totally rebuild it completely and repaint it also 😮 They are tuff as nails and with the flat head and new rod and piston will last other 24 years
For that price point, you did a good job, Alex. As for the starting still not functioning as well as expected, I have two thoughts. Perhaps the first is that although you cleaned all the connections, maybe you didn’t get them all down to shiny metal. The other is the following. This is something I learned yesterday on another channel. I’ve reworded and titled it for my own notes. STARTER EVALUATION A faulty ground will cause voltage at the starter to drop below voltage at the battery. This can be measured by connecting the voltmeter between the battery's negative post and the case of the starter itself. This shouldn't read more than 0.2V. A reading of 0.5V or higher will have an effect on the performance of the starter.
I appreciate the input, the starting isn’t quite where I would like it. I’ll have to run that test on future starters to see what the reading in. Thank you very much.
Really nice work buddy! That was fun to watch! I have an LT1045. Mine looks a bit different that that one but there are some similarities, too. Anyway....it looks like you've given this mower a new lease on life. Just awesome!!!
I just picked up a old Forrest Gump snapper rer, I picked it up cause a customer needed a bagger system for his, and this one came with a nice one, so I got the rest of the rer for free, it has a newer 13.5hp briggs intek, but I'm planning to put one of my v twin 22hp vanguard briggs on it, and make a racer, we shall see I might record it for my channel..... Gotta love those older cubbies.
That's going to be a fun project. I’d love to see it when you get done. I’ve got an old craftsman with an 18hp opposed twin that I’ve been debating making a video on. Maybe make it a little mud mower.
@@rcf8367 thank you. That was one of the things I did before showing the final results on the mower. It did help, but I think the starter is just a little weak. Greatly appreciate the support and tips.
Youre doing a great job. I did similar to a john deere, getting the body off was much more difficult than that one. I would suggest filling the gas tank with water to be sure it doesn't have any leaks. Trust me its much easier to fix a leak with the tank out of the tractor
Yes most of the John Deere’s you have to pull the whole dash off to get the rear pan. Thank you very much for stopping by the channel and commenting. 😎🫡
It came out great! In my area it's worth more than $450, probably more like $700. Also, I've never seen Cub Cadet Yellow by Majic. Hopefully my Tractor Supply starts carrying that
Thanks Kyle. I may end up asking a little more depending on the market this next spring but our market here is saturated, and a ton of other mower flippers. Yea I didn’t know they had this color. It’s a close match but certainly not perfect. I think it’s a match to the older cubs color scheme. Thanks for watching 😎😎
@ after looking it over, this is not the original deck. They must have used the tensioner from the original and used this mtd deck. It’s the same just wasn’t was configured slightly different.
A great Saturday morning watch with my cup of coffee. Nice job on the mower and video. I noticed you mentioned it would hang up/crank slow on the first couple cranks. Did you try adjusting the valves? That usually does the trick for me when I experience that.
Good call! I greatly appreciate you stopping by and enjoying the coffee break 😎. I did adjust the valves with the same result. I believe it might just be a slightly weak starter considering all of the rust and corrosion on this machine.
Decent machine for sure. Once they switched to mtd they got pretty janky. The courage gets a bad rap, but they are ok with proper maintenance. Thank you for the support as always.
@ I promise it to my son that help take care of it. He died from a motorcycle accident last year so when I’m mowing it does bring back memories of him and I working on it together. I miss him every day.
Alex, i think at the price point your going to ask for that mower that its worth every bit of that. They can price a new mower that wont have the quality that tractor has with a hydro. They can decide if they want to pay $3500+ or buy a $500 dollar tractor that is fully serviced with new belts, carb, fuel line, etc, and will last for for years to come! Great job Alex and Merry Christmas to you and your family!📽🇺🇲👍

Ethanol is the perfect chemical for removing water from the air and filling your fuel tank and carburetor bowl with corrosive water. Lucky for me, they still sell pure gasoline in Louisiana. I don't drive much, so that is all I use in my tractor and old Expedition. Too bad you don't have a sandblaster. The neighbors would love that. One of those needle scalers will chip thick rust off pretty fast. A zero degree nozzle on a pressure washer might knock loose rust off. Polyester body filler will fill in rust depressions. You were lucky that pulley wasn't frozen on the crankshaft. The seal must have a slight oil leak, or they put anti seize on it at the factory. That synthetic fiber belt should last for years & years. Those suckers are amazing. Rust Oleum is definitely the paint to use. That was a well made mower. Too bad they let it sit outside or it would look new. I keep mine in my garage. Those idlers will last for years if they can be rotated by hand. Running dry doesn't wear them much. It is only when they freeze up that they get torn up and can ruin the belt. Unless they wiggle a lot from excessive bearing wear, they will be fine. I wonder if they now put thread locker on those top bolts so that they can't vibrate loose and destroy a perfectly good engine. It is crazy how vibration & expansion can loosen bolts. You can understand why they run wire through bolts on aircraft engines.
