Tokiyuki existed and most major events in the comix are historical. But to describe him something of a pacifist is a modern adaptation. That most of the Hojo Clan, including the regent, were wiped out is also historical. At one place, the Tosho temple, whopping 800+ Hojo Clan Samurai committed Seppuku within hours, which still holds the record in Japan. (It's described in this episode.)

This story begins with the downfall of the Kamakura Shogunate due to the betrayal of one of its allies in 1333. Most of the characters are historical figures who appear in textbooks. The protagonist is also a real person.

Ashikaga Takauji is considered the most emotionally unstable hero in Japanese history.

Although it is currently being serialized, only the author knows how the story will progress. Endings may differ from history.
