I love that the critique of this movie is we don't understand Bob Dylan. That's the point of the movie. Nobody knows why to this day. Trying to understand him in a movie takes away from the essence of the man himself so at that point it's a thing of Take it or leave it and I guess James was willing to take that risk and I love that.
As a huge Bob Dylan fan and a movie lover who's least favorite genre is biopics, over the moon with how much I enjoyed this one because it understood the essence
Well said…that’s the main criticism i’ve heard…that it just doesn’t go far enough into unraveling the “mystery” of bob dylan. I’m young and i’m seeing it with my mother, who is the reason I am going, and thank you for expressing this! Keeping this in mind will make the movie more enjoyable
Bob Dylan is a naturally unknowable figure, for sure. However, it does fall to the main performance and scriptwriters to make him knowable or at the very least- interesting. That did not happen.
Just got out of the movie. Absolutely loved it as Dylan fan. Timothy was fantastic. There’s so much more of his career to cover and would love a sequel
I'm looking forward to this! I'm not a huge fan of all Dylan's music, but I remember seeing a "Rock & Roll" documentary back in the mid-90s on PBS (not to be confused with a similar production around the same time on VH1) and Dylan was the focus of the second episode which was so well done and interesting. It delved into the impact that he made on the Rock genre as a whole by bringing elements of folk into it and how resistant his folk fans and other were to him incorporating Rock into his music.
I had exactly the same reaction to "A Complete Unknown" as the reviewer. That is, as someone who grew up in the sixties, I know why Dylan was and is important. But for a younger viewer who sees the film, the reason for Dylan's importance is not explained.
I agree with your criticism. I needed much more emotional connection with the film and I needed to learn more about Bob Dylan in order to enjoy the film. Why make a movie like this if you don’t want to explore the guy who you’re making your movie about?!
Finally, an honest, unbiased review. After listening to your video, I hit the subscribe button. I’ll be waiting for your next review while I look back at all your previous posts. Thank you!
It isn't about honest ,it is about opinion. There is no right and wrong about opinion. Who knows Timothee will Oscar. What he will say your honest YT???😂
@@chloehall4270 like I said. This is not a massive blockbuster like a marvel or DC movie. It is literally a biopic, people are not going to be biased with this one dude. Strange you are even pointing this out. Notice how all you are getting is replies instead of likes on your comment👀
@@jackvlahos407This is not the year to call Marvel or a DC film a blockbuster. Outside of Deadpool 3, they had a terrible time at the box office. That ship has sailed.
The film should include the famous interview where Dylan admitted to making a deal with the Devil "Commander in Chief" as he called him, for his career!! "It all goes back to the destiny thing. I made a bargain with it a long time ago, and I’m holding up my end.” He was then promptly asked who he made a deal with, to which Dylan gave a wry smile, laughed and said: “With the Chief Commander of this earth and the world we can’t see.” - Bob Dylan
@@Talks-Movies what exactly are you implying with this?? You know America is a country where you can believe in whatever you want without hate , right? It’s called freedom of religion
He could well be referring to God here rather than Satan. And then too Dylan is also quite famous for handing out the BS just to see what he can get away with. He’s never taken himself too seriously.
As a fan of historical dramas, I’m hoping to enjoy it. Even if Timothee’s performance ends up not being as incredible as everyone is hyping up, I’m glad that he’s at least getting some love after everyone forgot about his performance in Dune Part 2, which is absolutely deserving of a best lead actor nom.

I like Timmy but I don't watch all of his movies. For both Dune movies, everyone kept saying he's amazing and the movies are masterpieces. But I didn't think so. So, now everyone saying this bob Dylan movie timmy should win the Oscar for it and I just highly doubt it. Ppl are just hyping up him and this movie too much. Maybe I'll stream it sometime but since I don't like the music, I don't think I'll like the movie. Btw, because this movie was delayed he had 5 years to train and practice the singing and playing guitar and harmonica. That's why he did such a great job with the singing.
I wasn’t amazed by Dune. The problem wasn’t so much the acting as the screenplay. I can’t believe the people gasping for air over the magnificence of Dune 1 & 2 took the time to read the books.
Yeah, people like Chalamet as a product, an interesting idea of a 'cool' human being. Heck, I do too. But that has not translated into any significantly impactful performance, he's not delivered on that front- at least not since CMBYN. Austin Butler on the other hand, has gone from strength to strength from his break out role in Elvis.
@@Alittleb1tter lmao. His only great performance is Dune 2 and partially good performance in Elvis. His other performances like Master of the Air and Bikeriders are all huge disappointment. In Elvis, in all scenes beside stage performance which he had tons of raw materials to learn from, aka those daily life conversation scenes, his performance sucked as hell. You are just AB fan snarking on Chalamet but objectively Timothee has a much better career.
I've now watched multiple scenes. .What Blanchett did was epic in "Dont Look Back." Will be hard to compete with her performance. Want to see the Scorcese documentary even more.
Bob Dylan wrote so many great songs. I agree he wasn't a good singer. The 60s had so many branches of rock . Dylan ,Crosby Still and Nash Peter, Paul and Mary. There is a reason the 60s 70s produced such great music. That still stands today. Im looking forward to seeing it.

“The man is nothing, the work is everything” applies to Dylan more than anyone I know of.

Bob Dylan didn’t fall in the rock music genre. He created his own genre called “Folk Rock”
This is now my favourite movie channel
I’m excited for Nosferatu.
Did it manage to bypass the music biopic cliches that Walk Hard lampooned?
I thought it did a good job at avoiding cliches
seeing it tomorrow
have a merry Christmas Sean🎄
Save your money.
saw the movie today, it was so good. loved it. will see it again.
Looks like a solid movie but when it's over, I'll probably just want to rewatch Inside Llewyn Davis for the millionth time

He sounds like a guy at the gym lifting weights and doing a podcast at the same time
Folk-Punk & Volksmusik is A Great Evolution Of Folk Music
I understand what you’re saying but I love folk music so as a avid listener of that type of music I loved this movie
I haven’t watched the video but I don’t think it will meet expectations.
He liked it but didn’t love it. Only reason I know that is because of his mini IG post.

Hey, it would be really cool if you did a video/short explaining whether or not you should see Knuckles before Sonic 3! :)
As someone who has already seen Sonic 3 and not watched the Knuckles series, I would say you wouldn’t have to watch the series before Sonic 3

Too Hollywood...
Better than Sonic 3 and Mufasa

Slightly flat? Huh?
Based on the thumbnail, it looks like this movie wasn't able to *SING* past expectations 🎶
Wow. Amazing punch line😐
You got it. Austin Butler transformed. Chalamet did not.
Disagree. Austin Butler did an impression. TC disappeared into the role.
Critics said otherwise.
