As promised. I made all the changes, following this video and my laptop is quite fast now. Thanks for your explanation. The only thing I had to do differently was clonning the operating system, as the tool you mention in the video only allows to clone in paid versions. Again, thanks for your help and your assistance.

My friend, your video has been very helpful. Instead of getting a new laptop to replace mine, I will follow this to install an ssd and additional ram to see if I can give my Acer A515-51-57 DX a second life. While the hardware part is actually similar (maybe the same) do you think the ram type (2133 mhz) and that same ssd would fit mine as well?

I'm currently researching how to upgrade my aspire 5. The video was helpful, though i am confused by the choice in dual memory. So far as I had the understanding both memory sizes and speeds most match for best performance. Acer say's that this laptop can support 32gb of RAM. correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't you have to remove the original 4gb stick with soldering iron then solder in a 16gb RAM. I have no interest in soldering this project. My questions are 1. can i mix the original 4gb RAM with a RAM the same speed but different size and receive the full performance and compatibility with 2 sizes, same speed? Or would it be wiser to match size as existing ram that is not removable?
just put in as much DDR4, maximum speed if can afford(I'm talking about price here!) I din't really are about speeds. I just put in the cheapest parts I found..and BTW a HD display!!
check this for better understanding. What I can say I didn't installed a NVME disk yet, but there are people here already did it and at this model it's working.
Hey I have a question! The RAM slot that you showed...So, it had like 4gb and you put an 8gb stick? Or was there another slot underneath the motherboard? Is it possible to run dual channel on this computer? I bought this exact model yesterday and I don't know if I should buy a 4gb or an 8gb stick, as it currently has 4gb, I'm thinking in putting another 4gb stick making a total of 8gb, but if it only has 1 Ram sslot hen I'd be screwed by doing that. Thanks! :)
Oh and also! I'm already looking for the motherboard layout and can't still find it. Could I use an NVME with this one? You know, to get those super high speed write and read speeds! :) Sorry for that many questions, I hope you can answer them.
there is only one extra slot, it have 4G RAM soldered on the motherboard.I believe is dual channel already, so the extra memory you'll install will run dual too.

@@viocaia Hi, thanks, I express myself poorly, my intent before is just to "remove" the connection of battery, not the whole battery haha, I did it, just removed the cable and works well, I don't recommend to remove the battery as like you, after you said that I opened my notebook to do the service, and I saw, there is no need to remove the battery physically and my suspects is that if someone remove the battery physically with the pass of the time it can desbalance the weight of notebook and can cause some trouble in touchpad in the future, there is my suspects as the way the notebook was build.
If someone wants to open the notebook to remove the cable of battery, please remove the HD first, removing the screws and the cable that connects the HD before open the notebook, because I disconnected the HD cable with motherboard(?) and for a noob me, or a person that has no experience on that can have a hard time.

Is it always recommended to wipe the HDD first then migrate the OS? Thanks! Much love. :)
I don't think so, but looks like a good idea to format the disk before only if you use an used one.If is new there is no need for that, just migrate the old one.Good luck and don't be scared.Be careful about electrostatic charges from our body, so touch the metal parts of the laptop ones in a while.

They are working together. After you install M.2 SSD, move the os to SSD and in BIOS make it first boot.Afterwards delete old HDD partitions, and repartition and format. It have to loose any booting propieties, it just a simple data deposit. Maybe acer support was thinking about haveing two boot disks in the same time.Everything will be much more easy if you can connect old HDD by a usb adapter, then is very clear the laptop is booting from SSD.
Hello, I have the model A515-51-51NZ I would like to know what type of M.2 to use, in the entrance of the m.2 there is only one slot and I saw that you put one of two
Hello. I know this is really late but I'm looking forward to upgrading my RAM. I currently have the A515-51G with a 4GB DDR4. Does the laptop have one slot or two slots? And where is the original RAM? This question seems to have different answers on different websites.
just follow the video..you'll got all the answer! The main RAM is soldered on the mainboard and thereis an extra slot for additional up to 32G I recall...
Did watch it for maybe in the future to upgrade an m.2 and also encouraged me to clean the fan... temps went down 20º-10ºc, was thinking on changing the thermal paste but seems it´s very stable and nice. @@viocaia Also for those in the future and maybe that will watch this nice video keep in mind... M.2 Nvme x4 in this laptop it will only work and run at half the speed advertised by the manufacturer due to only 2 lanes enabled(it's the norm for laptops). Samsung Evo 960 is nice you will get around 1800mb read and 1300mb write lectures. Even when getting the 2 lanes downgrade... SATA interface will vary between W/R speed´s of 500mb. And pcie x4 will run in only 2 lanes and half speed in this model, but i have seen on the model A515-52G x4 will work at its fullest (Ssd samsung evo 970plus 250gb in aspire 5 a515-52g R:3200mb/W:2200mb).
Use a small 250G M.2 or better NVME for Windows and other softs, nad let the 500G in place for data deposit ..anyway a SSD is far faster then any HDD capacity doesn't matter when you need speed.I did the same in the video, now I'm looking for a faster NVME to replace 250 M.2 I installed ago.
I want to migrate my OS to SDD 238gb but the Migration program says it is too small, but I can see in the video you are using even smaller SSD. Why is that?
like I said , open Disk management under Windows and check for partitions. If there is an empty space for the rest of M.2 creat new partition and format...the migration software doesn't see the whole disk, just a leftover from a previsious install..that's I can say...you also may try this with free partitioning software like EaseUs..there should be a hidden partiton or not partition at all, create new one..
You need to shut down the laptop, the battery can stay in place, but push shut down ! Of course you can add 8G or more of DDR4 RAM, you have only 1 slot there..so make it as big as you afford.

when placing the ssd it does not recognize it, you have to do something else so that it appears to be able to format
Be sure it\s really fit into the slot..there is nothing special to do..check the BIOS (start with F2) if the system is ''seeing'' the drive..I never had a situation like this with well known brands..
If you see it in BIOS then it's ok..to access BIOS press power and F2
Didn't you have problems booting from the sd?, because in my notebook the bios doesn't show the new sd m2 as a boot option.
No..I don't recall..but is it in the system? Can you see it from a USB windews install?

Once you take off the battries the laptop will start only with power supply, it is the same like a hard reset.so plug the power and star it eventually the battery is on

Hey , my model are already installed with 128gb ssd . Now im planning to upgrade it to 256gb ssd . So how do i migrate the file from the old ssd to the new one ?
if you have an M.2 SSD..you have to use an external USB HDD , use Backupper to do an image of the ''old''128 SSD...don't forget to make the external disk bootable with the utilities in Backupper software, then just install new M.2 in the slot, boot from external and follow the screen, transfer the image to the new M.2 ...If you have a 2.5 SSD already installed in the classic SATA slot it's even easier...just backup and restore to new M.2, eventually make new M.2 boot disk in BIOS and that's it!
