This is a great display of how much work it takes to get a resin piece polished. I make resin castings mostly on my lathe where it is much quicker to get through all the grades of paper and micro mesh. People just don't realize how much work goes into getting a scratch free surface!

@@donovanbryan5000 It's like that for all crafts. You should hear crocheters and knitters complain about people who want them to make a sweater or large blanket for free, as if it will take just an hour or so to make, not to mention the cost of the yarn. Like that blanket used $150 in yarn, and I spent 200 hours making it, and you want to pay me $50? No. Not a chance.
A friend of mine is an artist, and he sometimes does business for other artists. They never quibble about his prices because they know what it takes to make the piece.

I love that you don't just show us "what" and "how", you explain "why" the "what" and "why" the "how", without even speaking a word. Nice. It helps me remember to do things a certain way, the right way, the first time. Otherwise, I get these big dumb ideas of my own in my head that I know a short cut or know a better way to do something (even though I'd never done "something" before!). Bless you, thank you again.

Don't worry, lots of people understand how much time he spends, and how many different sand papers he uses, because he films it, and even if he accelerate the process, many people get that it's rather a matter of hours than minutes... But thanks though, maybe some folks thought it was in real time... 😉

@@33tours1 I guess I should’ve worded that better, some people may not realize how much time he spends on sanding because of the speed up process😉 I know I didn’t fully understand it when I first started watching him. I would see a list of used papers, sure, but the amount of time spent using each was a different thing. I’m a crafter and know first hand a short video versus the whole process doesn’t always convey the the work involved. 😊

I might be totally wrong but in this video, there doesn't seem to be a huge difference between the unsanded work and the final one. So, what's the point of sanding the resin work with 80 grit and then trying to get rid of the scratches caused by it? Why don't you just use the 2000 or 2500 grit sandpaper and then the polishig paste? Thanks.

The sanding and polishing part isn't always necessary. If the surface is smooth enough for you, just mix a small bit of resin and brush the outside with a cheap brush and the resin you just mixed. It will be clear as glass. Not sure where I read about this but it really saves a lot of time and effort.

What plastic are you using for the moulds? I’m trying to make perfect resin cubes and the silicone trays I’m using are a bit to flexible so they come out misshaped a bit whereas your method here seems perfect for what I’m doing

You should make a reference poster of the sanding order! I always have to look it up every time having it on my wall would be super handy. 🥰

I loved this video! It was extremely helpful because I tried using a dremel to polish and it came out looking cloudy and the polishing compound left a brick red stain on my project. I'm such a novice. Could you please tell me what kind and grit of abrasive paste and polishing paste you used? I would be most grateful!

    Jedrek,
I always love your videos. I watch every one.
The sides of the "polishing paste" sample appeared in the video to be as transparent as the top. Maybe the camera just couldn''t capture the difference. Have you ever tried putting a piece of plexiglass on top? Surface tension should keep the epoxy in contact. Maybe if you used a thick piece of plexi for the top it would be level enough to begin sanding with a fine grit.

The resin shrinks as it dries. That's why there is an indentation in the dice
