I actually don't know if I liked it or hated it since the screenplay is all over the place. Also the antagonist doesn't get much time to be fleshed out. It just drops out if nowhere the connection between the families. Not even a bit of foreshadowing. Also the movie opens with an older ranbir kapoor. Dont know where that thread got lost

Film's storyline is almost similar to 1984 film Sharaabi with Amitabh(Son) and Pran(Father). It was made with that era's commercial film style. But it's still a very very good film. The father-son conflict is presented way better in Sharaabi, than this one.
About the kissing scene in this movie you talk about --- Yes, the time has changed. Or the time has changed the minds. In real life situation too, in India, be it garden or bus stop, you may witness such kissing scene done by young girls and boys, who ignore people around them. So, obviously, this is reflected in the films.
Kissing in public places is still not that common here, whatever western ppl do does not mean it's good, modern. For them kissing is fine, but if two men hold hands 👬or put hands on shoulder thats gay and taboo, but for us it's so normal, same gender frnds do it here, a US movie reviewer got so triggered seeing "Vadachennai" where hero kisses in someone's house in front of kids, and was shown like it's not good,I mean kissing in others house or in front of kids is considered rude here, even if it's our wife, whatever they do in their movies should be accepted by us in name of open mind but they can't accept others cultures😃
thank god I wasnt only who thought it was kinda dark comedy. but I didn't expect it to create this much reaction people are being really personal with sandeep badmouthing his family and all
About the protagonist's name Vijay. In my opinion, this name was selected intentionally to link it with Amitabh B as it used to be his standard name in films. Especially, Big B played most of his intense angry roles as Vijay !!!
Yes if u see as a comedy aspect with action it doesn't makes u feel boring or exaggerated .... It's like balancing all aspects is not easy wen it's one man handling his project 😊😊
Ranbir and his father relation was shown in a very good way a kid looking upto his father and craving his attention most people will get some attention from their father but he git none
See i told you it is atleast worth watching.....Plus this kind of movie is not made regularly in indian cinema...specially by such a big star cast !!! I really enjoyed the movie and anyways the best movie of the year is yet to come ...DUNKI :)
I saw the movie yesterday ..... I went not expecting much but i didn't feel the 3 hours at all.... I was invested from the beginning itself.... His character really match the title.... He is an animal... He character was made to be flawed.... He is not a perfect hero... You can take side with his character... I like that lot in this movie✌overall it's a good movie. 8/10...more like a 8.3 but i dont do that✌😁
The story would've been awesome if they really did focus more on the father-son relationship. If the story was like after the first fight scene, we see that Anil Kapoor long ago cheated on his wife and made a family with Boby Deol's mother abroad and had two sons there, but the family there wasn't good for him because Boby Deol's mother was greedy and she wanted to have all the money and stuff that Anil Kapoor's first family has, but she died, and now her sons want the same thing and do all of these things shown in the movie. It would be more effective if they did that, because then we would've felt Ranbir Kapoor and Boby Deol's fight scene more, and it would've made the story more relatable because all Ranbir Kapoor's character ever wanted was time from his father, but he was so busy at work and away from his family that he was never there for that. On the other hand, he had another family that Ranbir Kapoor's character didn't know of, and one of his sons (Ranbir Kapoor) loves him more than anything, and the second family son hates him for not giving them the priority that Anil Kapoor gave to his first family. And the father-son relationship and the brother's relationship would have made clear sense, and the story would've been shorter and cooler.
First time in my life I am going to rewatch indian movie in theater. No movie has made me one do it like this. This feels like one of those movie get better with each watch
For many people it's just a too much violent movie, but For actually This Movie showing that how aggressive the new Indian generation is. Actually In overseas People Think that Indians are only peaceful people like Gandhi. But it's not at all. It's depends on you how you take it.
See the stuff you said about the father - son relationship not working well for you. That's the whole thing about the movie, see in India that kind of relationship is so prevalent and seen in many households. Fathers are quite cold, and distant. Our Hero (RK) in the end says "Even I don't know why I love you so much", that pretty much sums it up, their relationship may not be as good looking on the outside but what they feel is quite too deep to just be seen with eyes, you may find it hard to relate to but its how they feel for each other.
However one thing i think you missed is to talk about Bobby Deol's acting. I grew up watching his movies in late nineties and then he disappeared completely. And now he is back
Jimmy u are lucky u are foreigner. To us people who watched the film they are saying we are crazy, misogynist and future criminal if we watch this movie 😭😭😭.
where was the story to work lol.. completely keeping aside misogyny and everything the plot is almost non existent..no exploration of father-son bond, no deep dive into any character motivations
its like CRANK movie. people should not expect morality or ethics from this type of movies. i still believe that ANIMAL full story is in Vangas mind he know what will be the end. its just first part so all the question will be answered in sequel i think. i am sure Bobby deol backstory can be seen in sequel. so people should be patient.
WOW! That's quite unbiased review, everyone is screaming about how misogynist the movie is...etc. For me it was just an action flick! Nothing deep or wow about it except for the acting. As always love your reviews. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
amazing movie, grounded technically sticks to the script. ‘animal’ representation is done 100/100 whenever Lead is shown whether dialogue/action/romance. animal doesn’t care if its right or wrong to do something. that’s exactly whats shown & stuck it. 1. animal doesnt care abt law hence killing 2. animal doesnt care soothing/careful romance hence bra tap/nudity/openland sex during marriage scene 3. put any scene u want apply animalistic territorial sense.. now u have director’s vision “ill show what violence is” i believe is what he said. He shows that in drama, romances & family relationships & action all scenes had shown violence which is very hard thing to do & he hit that bullseye in my view 🎯
The director was just touching the water that he said in an interview with idle jeevi .He said that he will explore more theme and layer to the story and darkness if animal works .As we can see animal has worked so the next part is animal park which will be unleased very soon
I understand you didn't get it some of the things but the father son relationship and what he did to those boys in the field and college, for almost any Indian it was on point 😅
Oh God I was relieved when I saw ur smiling face on the thumbnail. I was scared that you too are gonna review it the same way Rick did and I'm glad that it you atleast had a good time with it. I think it's time for Sandeep Vanga to focus only on making engaging & entertaining movies rather than trying to find new ways to trigger feminists & woke critics. Ofcourse he's proven that he's the boss & gives zero fucks to the critics who bash him and has also amassed a significant fan following. He possesses a fresh, wacky & unique style of filmmaking which is quite uncommon in the mainstream Indian cinema and I hope he uses it to make much better & responsible films rather than getting buried in his own clout.
6:00 - Wish to be quite honest that I totally agree with you here. Why ? .... post the 80's or even the 90's better, Indian films have lacked the touch of story, cinematography and artistry incl. the classical touch and feeling making it loose much of it's "depth" if that word is appropriate. Post the golden age of Indian films, most have been made to emphasize on the actor/actress (superstar) and a story made around characters tailored for them than the actors being selected for the story and characters in them - a radical shift from traditional film-making. Again there have been good films even in this century in the likes of Manjhi - The Mountain Man, Kashmir Files, Kerala Story etc. that focus on reality and stay rooted to the art of film making. The story/plot based approach is all but seems lost to superstar fandom. Usually in the 20th century films were made on real life issues and "related" with the commoner in India. However now, it all seems over the top mostly. There are some cultural innuendos even in older ones that won't be relatable to foreign audience, however they capture the charm with the characterization, cinematography and film-making with focus on the "story"..... the very thing missing these days. I honestly found few "tv series" like 'Dhootha: The Messenger' (in Telugu) and "Atidhi" (also in Telugu) having richer content in terms of targeting specific topics of media honesty and human values and virtues. These I loved a lot despite not being a native Telugu speaker. Hence I don't rate Indian films or even many tv series high since they just don't have a good structured story line to justify 3 and half hours of content. Lord of the Rings, Hobbit, Star Wars, Sound of Music etc. have content that can fill in for the 3 hours especially due to the legendary cinematography, gorgeous well done special effects and animatronic techniques. The amount of effort put into making Indian films grounded in reality with great special effects when and where needed supported by a well made story with depth in character and morals would probably go a long way in reforming the Indian Film Industry. Also most films and TV Series now tend to be political (pro - Christian, Muslim, Communist etc.) which is totally uncalled for. If it is an art, concentrate on the art alone. Manichitrathazhu was actually based off on "Jekyll and Hyde" character from the British novels. However the way the story was adapted to Indian audiences was novel and phenomenal.
this is exactly how i felt about the movie. It had its moments and style but on the whole, storytelling was incoherent and shallow. It could have been a great movie.
Probably the best review of Animal i have ever seen until now. You echoed the same things i felt. However I would have rated somewhere between 6.5-7... a notch above your rating.
Yes Very long movie. it can be easily trim TO 2.5 hours. A lot of unnecessary sub plot and one stage the love interest also makes you boar. Ranbir anil and bobby was superb. Also the sacred games guy (Musa) is a very good actor.
Great review, pretty much how I felt about it. It was an entertaining watch. I loved most of the performances, especially Ranbir. Music and gore was also good(though would have like even more gore, but that's just me) But there were some big issues to me. 1) Bobby deol was very much underutilized. Felt his screen time was very short. 2) Airport fight sequence with Jala denge playing in background was unintentionally funny for me. It was just giving a different vibe for me. 3) Rashmika was okayish. Some scenes, she was really good. But her performance in sequence where she breaks down(shown in trailer) didn't click for me. Anyways, *Animal Park* is going to be interesting by the way ended this.
Yeah and specially when sandeep reddy said that it would be more darker with a back stories too.. now that's enough for me to get hyped for Animal park!
After all your time & effort to get to the theatre & back, I'm glad you had a decent time, Jimmy. But I don't think there's any self-aware satire intended in the action scenes or dialogues in this movie... The director had said a few times that he wanted to make a really violent drama and Ranbir described the movie as an Adult-rated Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gum (the family drama starring Amitabh as father with SRK & Hrithik as sons). I think the actors (especially Ranbir) & the background music were the saving grace of this movie... But overall, it's a mess.
Finally!!! Someone understands the irony of film ans purposeful intention of filmmaker to make it that way 😂 To all the "false critics" please learn from this guy. Heck the name of the movie is animal 😂 What else did you think would happen But still i would like to say the movie disappointed me in one way that i expected something more form the film(noy that its the filmmakers fault its just that i wanted more from it ) like he pointed out the story and writing could have been better (when compared to hype and fan theory surrounding the movie)
I only like to watch trailer of Sandeep Reddy vangas movies....not the movies. Heroes of the movie are so style driven ...they almost seem like they r aping their favourite heroes throughout the movie.
That is just a fantastic review and its strange but on almost all levels I agree with you, like my friends hardly agree with my review, so yeah. LOVED IT :)
I loved the starting scene of ranvir telling the monkey story. That was hilarious. All and all a good entertainer. That's what I expected and that's what I got. Was satisfied with the movie
I can understand your perception of the problematic stuff in the film as being framed in an ironic or self-aware light. Unfortunately, that is not how most of the impressionable young people watching the movie in India will perceive it. As is evident from all the testimonies of hooting and cheering in the cinema halls during the misogynistic and violent scenes, unfortunately the masses will consume it as behaviour to idolise than to view as problematic. Actors are worshipped and emulated in India to an extent that might be incomprehensible to someone unaware of the ground reality.
Stay away from social media idiots...personally in my life I have never met a person who idiolises and worships an actor or who idolises characters from a movie...in my normal life I have not met such extremist people it's only when I come to social media I find these complete idiots who are just way too extremist in whatever they think...so stay away from these idiots
@aamentalikdar9371, Allu Arjun won National film awards for portraying that misogynistic guy in Pushpa. Even Shiva’s character in critically acclaimed Kantara was problematic; but the difference is- he was mildly called out for his behavior towards the girl in the film. There are 100s of films in all Indian movie industry that shows questionable stuffs about women & legitimize it. How does Rajanikanth’s female partners are portrayed in movies? But he is called “God”, right? What about Babubali? How about the concept of item songs? Even the old movies in the 70s~80s have women doing vulgar dances & wearing nasty revealing dresses. So, I think that mentality was always there in Indian males, & people took it as a normal behavior. Foreigner critics have learned to overlook those stuffs about alpha males & disrespectful portrayal of women in movies because they understood that pointing out those may anger Indians. So they focus on the movie story, the characters & cinematography instead. As far as I understood, Jimmy didn’t thought that Ranbir’s character was ok; & he just doesn’t think that showing a character like this in a movie legitimizes the actions of that character. To him, Ranbir was stupid yet a sociopath, that’s why he does those stuffs. Jimmy will never understand how can Indian males idolize that character. He just reviewed that film like he reviews any foreign film with gore, murder, strong language & sexual content.
@@pranjal1537 idk if you’re living under a rock if you genuinely think that Indians don’t idolize filmstars and copy everything from their fashion to their attitude. Toxic fandoms are very common. Especially of big male stars.

Animal doesn't follow a traditional movie structure TBH. It's filled with chaos and disharmony and kinda touches moral ambiguity. But your heart at the end feels contentment.
Jimmy, the thing that I missed most in this review is an intro- like you did in the “Jailer” 😎 review; or you and Buddy did in the “Gangs of Wasseypur” 😁 or “Arjun Reddy” 😉 review. Those were so hilarious, I watch those again & again. But I understand why you didn’t take Buddy with you to watch this “Animal” movie. Reason number 1 : He is soft hearted, couldn’t digest the film. Number 2: His girlfriend would’ve lost trust in him if he liked the film. May be a dhulai (beating up) session would’ve followed after the verbal spanking. I don’t know for sure - but just saying! Dhulai is bad for health- experienced Buddy knows that. Keep up the good work, bro.
This movie also kinda exposed many fake movie enthusiasts. All about misogny zero talk on craft which I feel is very disrespectful to people who worked on this movie Because this movie something that will be enjoyed by cinema lovers. I think art and activism should be seperated.
great review as always. i am also not a fan of this movie but one of the greatest thing in this movie is action and how realistic, it was not saying about big gun scene but how bloody it was. ranbir kapoor stole the show. this has more inspiration or copy from godfather and scarface. some of religious identity were shown in sense of agenda and not at all true but it's director view so they can show however they want within limits. character of hero is so toxic but the humour he has which made him to believable and nice but this character is so bad. when people tell look at the title and tell don't compare him be good. human are different from any other species but when people showcase human as an animal without any limits. human have characteristics of other animal species but the difference how we control us and having good moral but showing this kind of character as an example such a bad thing to do. when people showcasing bad apples of religion then they shouldn't promote toxic behavior. that's for me double standards. telling religions and toxic are wrong and showing the main character who doesn't has belief is also toxic and promoting doesn't make any sense.
Well I liked your review. But I can't see the movie the way you saw it. If some things in the movie are wrong for me, then I can't ignore them thinking may be that's the way maker wanted them to be.
And if you just watch any shit in the name of "movie" than you should stop because of people like you this stupid films are made and are even praised. By this logic movies should be just made to stimulate your brain by just putting brainless characters, action, story, dialogues, philosophy because it's just a movie right?
But I don't buy it when it is said that though the story is not new, it is presented in a different way. So what? With every generation the filmmaking changes. So filmmaker will have the contemporary style of film making. So he will naturally present it that way. That is the least he must do. Which filmmaker in 2023 will make film like 80s or 90s?
That's not what I mean. I mean that from the new movies I have seen lately, this one stood out to some degree. It just has a particular style/vibe, that felt fresh to me. And a lot of is the (dark) comedy.
May be some day You should watch Sharaabi. Again it's not perfect movie by today's defination. But it's one of the Best in Amitabh's career. Highest grocer movie of that year. A fine film I would say. And ofcourse some fantastic Kishore Kumar numbers. Music of the film was HUGE HUGE HUGE HIT. And for the first time Kishore Kumar and Amitabh sang a song together. Bachchan's Intence performance.
I was excited for this and I thought this will be interesting. But no, there is nothing revolutionary, it is just another business making film, yet little different. Yea, I didn't like this movie even though I wanted it to like it.
Thanks for expaining the movie, or maybe trying to. Its a commercial action movie with dark undertones. The only thing cringy is your use of phrases such as "deep psychology" in a bid to maybe come off as something more than just a critique. what does it even mean? Please go judge old boy or taxi driver or scarface in the same vein. I am just sick of over intellectulization bs presented by people who want to be recognised as something more than they actually are.
@@raja-jl9osLooks like a normal movie review & using normal terminologies became “intellectual” for some. Now I understand why great movie makers of India never made any money- it’s not their fault, actually the audiences are really naive. Ranbir is very good in movies where psychology & emotions are the core of the movie story- he shines in those films like m: Rockstar & Tamasha. He did his best in Animal too- so did the other actors/actresses. However, if the story line is so thin, it’s hard for him or the nice songs/music to compensate that. If the movie really worked on the story about the father-son & Ranbir-Rashmika relationship; & gave a little bit background about the other important characters- then it would’ve been a good movie, no doubt. & how can some critic address those “relationship” issues in the movie story without talking about the character arc & “psychology“ behind the mentality & behavior of each characters, I don’t know.

I was thinking how better it would have been had the avoided/removed the Rashmika's character. How wonderful film that would have been. First half an hour is totally wasted in their love story which has nothing to do with main theme. I also wonder if the character like him will believe in love and marriage. He will f*** 4 different women everyday.
I think you're giving too much credibility to Sandeep Reddy Vanga and thinking he has made a comic take on Alpha men.. Sandeep Reddy Vanga literally believes in the Alpha Male ideology

I am finding it’s very funny that you liked that movie despite all the basic stuffs you dint like it. It’s like you liked the messed pizza in all the ways because you liked the chicken pieces and pineapples!😅 i have seen you are very critical about other films but being optimistic about this one which failed to deliver for what is been sold for! Is it a violence film? I can show tons of violent films like Rocky (Tamil film) which shows pure violence, does it have strong villain and has enough scope? Bobby is a strong villain but unfortunately he has just have screen presence of minutes in a near 3.5 hrs movie. Is it between father and son? Again there are much scenes why he liked his father other than longing for his attention and what about his mother’s attention? Is he male chauvinist, that was clearly told! Did Rashmika plays an important role in Changing the course of the film? If you take out both Rashmika and Zoya out of this film no change at all except the kid running to Ranbir saying “papa” and all the things took care by Rashmika from the beginning like she even tells Ranbir in one scene! So he did whatever his dad did to him to his son but the kid running to his papa but even that quality of relationship was not even shown. He commits to his wife that he wouldn’t betray her but he did have sex with zoya even he knew zoya came to kill kill his family so what’s the point of having sex with her and justifying it to Rashmika? He brings his brothers from the village by showing how to respect the elders and he dint even care about them except calling them brothers in couple of scenes and disrespecting them in other scenes. The common pattern Sandeep it in the movie is he criticised his scenes in latter part of the movie so none will speak about it but how pathetic it is to say ok to be abusing your partner and every character plays as if they have no future or options! For me Arjun reddy seems to justifying for what you say now even though i dint agree on certain things but this film has no goals as Arjun reddy did. So biased review i would say! Please watch the following review for whatever convincing points that you told. ua-cam.com/video/UnSea5SyBgU/v-deo.htmlsi=0y0zBQjC6kdHbcYM

This us the reason why you're my favourite movie reviewer. You're spot on!!!
thank god I wasnt only who thought it was kinda dark comedy. but I didn't expect it to create this much reaction people are being really personal with sandeep badmouthing his family and all
About the protagonist's name Vijay. In my opinion, this name was selected intentionally to link it with Amitabh B as it used to be his standard name in films. Especially, Big B played most of his intense angry roles as Vijay !!!
I made the shakti connection too..amitabh is vijay in it too and had dysfunctional relationship with his father
You did the most balanced review of this movie you didn’t tried to be a victim of mysogyny to public
Yes if u see as a comedy aspect with action it doesn't makes u feel boring or exaggerated .... It's like balancing all aspects is not easy wen it's one man handling his project 😊😊
You are always spot on Jimmy ,I trust ur reviews more than all famous critics.
Ranbir and his father relation was shown in a very good way a kid looking upto his father and craving his attention most people will get some attention from their father but he git none
Animal is a path breaking movie. A 3hr plus movie and you hardly blink is in itself a testament to the director’s captivating screenplay and craft.
Sandeep Vanga Director of this film, introduced by Vijay Deverakonda actor Arjun reddy.. 💙
See i told you it is atleast worth watching.....Plus this kind of movie is not made regularly in indian cinema...specially by such a big star cast !!! I really enjoyed the movie and anyways the best movie of the year is yet to come ...DUNKI :)
Your reveiw is exactly how I felt about the movie after I finished watching it.I'd say you have a spot on review.
8/10...more like a 8.3 but i dont do that✌😁
It's important to listen a review from out of box because inside of box there is more possibility that reviews wouldn't be neutral.
Wow ❤ you just said what I wanted to say..... Many in India are finding morality in this film and I don't understand why?
Jimmy, Your vocab is amazing
First time in my life I am going to rewatch indian movie in theater. No movie has made me one do it like this. This feels like one of those movie get better with each watch
For many people it's just a too much violent movie, but For actually This Movie showing that how aggressive the new Indian generation is.
Actually In overseas People Think that Indians are only peaceful people like Gandhi. But it's not at all.
It's depends on you how you take it.
Ur review exactly how I felt. I enjoyed the movie and saw it as a character movie about a terrible man. It was fun watching this movie.
And sharaabi had some fantastic fantastic songs.
where was the story to work lol.. completely keeping aside misogyny and everything the plot is almost non existent..no exploration of father-son bond, no deep dive into any character motivations
I agree with you, it's just Vanga's movie making techniques which kind of saved the movie
its like CRANK movie. people should not expect morality or ethics from this type of movies. i still believe that ANIMAL full story is in Vangas mind he know what will be the end. its just first part so all the question will be answered in sequel i think. i am sure Bobby deol backstory can be seen in sequel. so people should be patient.
WOW! That's quite unbiased review, everyone is screaming about how misogynist the movie is...etc. For me it was just an action flick! Nothing deep or wow about it except for the acting. As always love your reviews. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Animal is Guilty Pleasure
Mate, I found your review The most nuanced. Excellent Analysis.
Much appreciated! :)
amazing movie, grounded technically sticks to the script. ‘animal’ representation is done 100/100 whenever Lead is shown whether dialogue/action/romance. animal doesn’t care if its right or wrong to do something. that’s exactly whats shown & stuck it.
1. animal doesnt care abt law hence killing
2. animal doesnt care soothing/careful romance hence bra tap/nudity/openland sex during marriage scene
3. put any scene u want apply animalistic territorial sense.. now u have director’s vision
“ill show what violence is” i believe is what he said. He shows that in drama, romances & family relationships & action all scenes had shown violence which is very hard thing to do & he hit that bullseye in my view 🎯
If I knew video editing, I can make a great 2 hour movie with a totally sensible plot. No extra footage required. Just need to edit this movie better.
Excellent review as always
Great review! I like the. you 'got it'!
thank you :)
The only common thing in both the movies is superb performances by father-son duo.
People tend to miss the irony. Glad that you caught it
Great review, pretty much how I felt about it. It was an entertaining watch. I loved most of the performances, especially Ranbir. Music and gore was also good(though would have like even more gore, but that's just me)
But there were some big issues to me.
Yeah we will see about Animal Park ':D
Finally!!! Someone understands the irony of film ans purposeful intention of filmmaker to make it that way 😂
To all the "false critics" please learn from this guy.
Heck the name of the movie is animal 😂
What else did you think would happen
But still i would like to say the movie disappointed me in one way that i expected something more form the film(noy that its the filmmakers fault its just that i wanted more from it ) like he pointed out the story and writing could have been better (when compared to hype and fan theory surrounding the movie)
Nice review that analyses the nuances of the movie rather than simply dissing it with a knee-jerk reaction.
A MUST WATCH FILM.
WHAT AN ENTRY FOR BOBBY DEOL IN THE SECOND PART
I only like to watch trailer of Sandeep Reddy vangas movies....not the movies. Heroes of the movie are so style driven ...they almost seem like they r aping their favourite heroes throughout the movie.
Gut review. Bruder, du gab eine schöne Rezension über den Film. 👍. I loved the movie.
@@aamentalukdar9371 that's why I said that you live with those idiot fake social media people maybe you are also one of them...I live with very decent people(both boys and girls) yes they don't idiolize film and filmstars...yes I know some who idiolize sports stars but not any film stars
@@pranjal1537 lol, you almost succeeded at logical discourse for a moment there before revealing yourself to be a troll. 🤣 Idolising filmstars is a societal phenomenon in India, doesn’t matter if you and I personally know these people or not.
If you're saying it's a 6/10. I'll take your word. I rely on your reviews more than any other Indian reviewers out there. Most of them doesn't know jack shit about cinema.
Don't be so dramatic. Watch the movie first
Movie is easily 9/10.
Many foreigners will give it 5/10 just by seeing a swastika out of context.

Animal doesn't follow a traditional movie structure TBH. It's filled with chaos and disharmony and kinda touches moral ambiguity. But your heart at the end feels contentment.
Jimmy, the thing that I missed most in this review is an intro- like you did in the “Jailer” 😎 review; or you and Buddy did in the
“Gangs of Wasseypur” 😁 or “Arjun Reddy” 😉 review.
All about misogny zero talk on craft which I feel is very disrespectful to people who worked on this movie
Because this movie something that will be enjoyed by cinema lovers. I think art and activism should be seperated.
Foreigners would never understand why it's called toxic by certain Indian section...
It's not the movie, its the one who made the movie.
great review as always. i am also not a fan of this movie but one of the greatest thing in this movie is action and how realistic, it was not saying about big gun scene but how bloody it was. ranbir kapoor stole the show. this has more inspiration or copy from godfather and scarface. some of religious identity were shown in sense of agenda and not at all true but it's director view so they can show however they want within limits. character of hero is so toxic but the humour he has which made him to believable and nice but this character is so bad. when people tell look at the title and tell don't compare him be good. human are different from any other species but when people showcase human as an animal without any limits. human have characteristics of other animal species but the difference how we control us and having good moral but showing this kind of character as an example such a bad thing to do. when people showcasing bad apples of religion then they shouldn't promote toxic behavior. that's for me double standards. telling religions and toxic are wrong and showing the main character who doesn't has belief is also toxic and promoting doesn't make any sense.
It was a pretty exciting entertainer for me .. Loved the air strip fight!
Well I liked your review. But I can't see the movie the way you saw it. If some things in the movie are wrong for me, then I can't ignore them thinking may be that's the way maker wanted them to be.
Great review
To the Haters, If you watch a movie for life lessons then please STOP 🛑
And if you just watch any shit in the name of "movie" than you should stop because of people like you this stupid films are made and are even praised. By this logic movies should be just made to stimulate your brain by just putting brainless characters, action, story, dialogues, philosophy because it's just a movie right?
👏👏
A fantastic review that gets the tone of the is film...Kudos JImmy!
Thanks!
to be honest a little disspointed, thought movie would be atleast at level of kabir singh but it's not even 10% of kabir singh
Great review 🎉
Thanks!
Thanks for the review. Sounds like a fun movie to watch
GREAT REVIEW
But I don't buy it when it is said that though the story is not new, it is presented in a different way. So what? With every generation the filmmaking changes. So filmmaker will have the contemporary style of film making. So he will naturally present it that way. That is the least he must do. Which filmmaker in 2023 will make film like 80s or 90s?
That's not what I mean. I mean that from the new movies I have seen lately, this one stood out to some degree. It just has a particular style/vibe, that felt fresh to me. And a lot of is the (dark) comedy.
Yah I got your point....I didn't liked it at all...Infact I came out of theatre midway...saw 60% movie only.
Spot on brother...I felt the same ...had a smile through the movie ..was not bothered at all by the antics...Ranbir was awesome 😎...just the civility

Crap movie, 3.5 hrs headache, panadol business grows 😅
I was excited for this and I thought this will be interesting. But no, there is nothing revolutionary, it is just another business making film, yet little different.
Yea, I didn't like this movie even though I wanted it to like it.
Hi Jimmy, can you please watch chiththa and review it please
Thanks for expaining the movie, or maybe trying to. Its a commercial action movie with dark undertones. The only thing cringy is your use of phrases such as "deep psychology" in a bid to maybe come off as something more than just a critique. what does it even mean? Please go judge old boy or taxi driver or scarface in the same vein. I am just sick of over intellectulization bs presented by people who want to be recognised as something more than they actually are.
I think western critics are more mature than our so called reviewer

I couldn read the english review at the end of video
I was thinking how better it would have been had the avoided/removed the Rashmika's character. How wonderful film that would have been. First half an hour is totally wasted in their love story which has nothing to do with main theme. I also wonder if the character like him will believe in love and marriage. He will f*** 4 different women everyday.
Hilarious movie. Lots of fun.

Did Rashmika plays an important role in
Changing the course of the film?
