- From the brilliant cartooning pen of Andre Franquin comes "Die Laughing" via Fantagraphics Books. Originally titled "Les Idees Noires", this is Franquin's descent into some very dark and topical humor from the late 70s and early 80s. It's hilarious, and features a new style for him, based on his classic cartooning and then slathered in ink.

This is a flip through the book.
Pipeline Comics: European Comics from a North American Perspective
this is, what i like to call, the Belgian Junji Ito.
Franquin has a particularity. In almost each of his drawings there is an effect of movement. When you notice that you can't stop seeing it
Eddie's Trick Shop!?
The size of the book looks a little bit small. Are the details still visible?
Yeah, I wish it was a little big larger, but it's still bigger than standard US comics size. I think everything looks great. I didn't have problems with lost details, but I've also never seen it at full size, so what do I know?
The humour is like Sergio Aragones and Don Martin, but the art is like Rembrandt.
That is a pretty good description right there. Rembrandt is a good comparison!
Hi sir. Are the pages matte finish or glossy? Thanks!
They are glossy, but the paper stock, itself, is pretty heavy. Yeah, you might need to tilt the book out of the way of direct light to prevent glare from washing out some of the inked areas.
Looks cool, how lost would one be if he doesn't know about the 70s and 80s political situation in France? Asking for a friend....
Not lost at all. It's pretty generic. There's no specific references that I can think of off the top of my head.
Might check it out then, thanks for answering
