A very good tip when you buy a Gold Rolex is to line the inside of the bracelet with strips of masking tape, and replace it every 6 Months or so. This may sound strange but it prevents the soft Gold links from rubbing together and loosening them. I have a original Gold YachtMaster from the early 90s,and the bracelet is as tight today as it was when i first purchased it. (and no one ever sees the tape.) People can laugh but, because I've done this for 27 Years or so the Watch is worth a few thousand more than your average YachtMaster. "And it still looks awesome!"

Point # 5 is spot on. Full gold can land you in trouble. You have to know how and where to wear these pieces. The GMT FYG with the green anniversary dial is my favourite piece.
I got the subs steel 2017 and gold 2019. Daily wear the steel. I did wear the gold when I just bought it. But it brings too much attention, you see people watching and calculating or google pricing, and thats a little bit akward in some situations. I feel more comfortable with the steel, its more undercover. I should wear the gold more but mostly its not the right time and place... Greetings from Holland
Great video! At the end, you mentioned a Sky Dweller being ruined by too much water exposure. Is that watch not as waterproof as a typical Rolex? Also, is there a good less costly alternative to a rose gold Day-date? I love the look of the watch but almost $40k is a bit of a stretch. I currently have a 2 tone Datejust and a Sea Dweller Deepsea.
One thing you left out on your list of gold watches is that each company’s version of yellow & rose gold looks different. Like an AP rose gold looks way different compared to an Everrose Rolex watch.
Of course Rolex, AP & Patek look great in gold but at a substantial price. For great value a gold Panerai such as the PAM 140 Luminor represents an amazing value and is a “heavy hitter” with 44mm of yellow gold with black carbon fiber dial. It has as much or more wrist presence as the others at a fraction of the price. One major advantage of the Panerai is the ability to change straps easily and the great selection of straps available. For example I can go very bold with the PAM 140 on a red Croc strap. Or I can go dressy with a black or brown Croc strap. Or I can put it on rubber for a sporty look and the ability to go in the water with it. Very versatile.
I just know Eric for his videos, I never met him in person, but I would really like to. If I ever have to buy a watch I would buy it from him, and in this video he confirms it. Because he shows that he is interested in the buying experience of his clients, he wants them to buy the watches that suits them and make sure that they won’t t regret buying the watch they finally go for. When I hear him talking I see that he is a transparent, correct and honest man. A true gentleman of integrity. I definitely trust him
Nice watches but why should a low or even middle class person spend so much on gold watches and all that why with the least $1000 and a certain strategy one can make a fortune trading and investing in cryptocurrency.
I personally think that while yellow gold Rolex sports watches are cool, they're a fashion faux pas. It's like having a girlfriend with enormous breasts. It makes the wearer look like they are trying too hard, so it makes you vulnerable to ridicule and criminals. That's the reason I like my 2002 Platinum Yacht Master. Its Platinum Bezel and Dial teases you with it's stealth bling and weight addition, but its steel bracelet is more durable than gold. I think the reason it has been less successful is that its sophistication level is above that of the quintessential Rolex buyer. But that's OK by me.
Eric, I’ve been watching you for years...since back when people were giving you a hard time for your sun glasses. You got me hooked on Psycho Bunny. Back then I had just bought my first piece, a Panerai PAM312. I’m now in the market for a rose gold APRO.
Youn can get very nice vintage gold watches in great condition for less than $2000... Most of these points only apply to over-hyped and vastly over-valued modern watches marketed to people who don't know much about horology.
Good video. Lots of good gold watches for "the low" that you wont make money on, but will look good to wear and add to a collection. The "take the responsibility" part is KEY. People with money (especially here in Miami) are oblivious to life, parking lambos in parking garages, and getting food at 2 am with diamonds on. Some people, especially now, are starving. The desperate do crazy things. #StayStrapped #LegallyOfcourse
I don’t think people who are in the position of not caring if their gold watch gets damaged or not are the people that do their own home improvement 😉 Great video as always 👌👊
Eric, Ive been trying to learn the market on the 90's gold 36 mm presidential's but prices are all over the place. Ive seen from 13k all the way up to 30. Reason being its something id like to get in the next year but cant understand why they vary so much. Could it be reference numbers? different years? Im local to Miami as well. Thanks!
You couldn't be more correct when saying being responsible and think about how and when you wear a gold watch, especially if you want to keep your gold watch looking good for as long as possible. It's also nice to enjoy them by not wearing them like a daily watch. This way the wearer will enjoy a sense of occasion when putting it on. It can't be denied. Gold whether Yellow, White or Rose, it is King. If you get chance, I'd love to see a review of the 5711R choc dial. Excellent video Eric!
I think stainless steel sport watches that were developed to be made from stainless steel should be stainless steel(ie RO, Nautilus, Sub, etc). IMO, dress watches should be the only watches made out of gold like a Calatrava, PP annual calendar, Breguet classique etc. with the exception being the Rolex President.
