A really cool 1977 Made in Japan Ibanez Model 24200 Custom Les Paul Style guitar. These guitars were way ahead of their time and of course directed their sales efforts to the Gibson Players that couldn’t afford a real Les Paul. They did a great job…wonderful guitars! Includes the original Hard Shell Case and the original Warranty Card!
The guitar is absolutely stunning. The Curly Maple Top is just beautiful and I really like the Wood grain Headstock overlay and wood grain body bindings… the ebonized Rosewood fretboard looks so dark, I thought it was Ebony at first. We filled a couple holes for the pickguard that was missing. I couldn’t bring myself to drill new holes for a pickguard. I’ll let the new owner make that decision.
Here’s what we had to do for this incredible guitar to get it in shape for its new owner. The guitar came to us with a chrome colored tailpiece and studs. We actually were able to find the correct Ibanez Artist tailpiece in gold with the studs in New Old Stock Packaging…Yes, you have a new tailpiece on this vintage guitar that’s correct for the guitar. It had no knobs, we replaced them with a set of reproduction Sure-Grip knobs that looks and function correctly. It had a bad switch which we replaced as well as a bad pot and input jack. The originals are in the case. From there the guitar is all original!
This beauty has the original Gold Ibanez Super 80’s Humbuckers that sound amazing. Very raw and powerful. They are somewhat microphonic which just adds to the powerful powerful sound this guitar gives you. The pickups are huge sounding. Awesome Original Pickups that are thick and very musical!
The guitar has the original Custom truss rod cover, nut, Ibanez Star tuners, gold bridge (one nut is missing from the adjustment stud but it functions as it should), pickup surrounds, strap buttons, neck plate and back covers. We dated the guitar from the serial number on the back plate. Check those pics!
This Curly Maple Guitar plays as good as it looks. Very little player wear on this one. Mostly on the back. It has a Rock Maple neck that feels great! We had it Professionally setup with new 10’s and it has great awesome low playing action that very easy on the fingers.
The body on this custom is 40 inches long and the width is 13 inches wide at the lower bout... The nut measures 1 3/4inch...it has a 24 3/4 inch scale neck... normal dings and scratches you would expect for a guitar that's 44 years old...but looks great!
The beautiful body has a Curly Maple Top and finished in Nitrocellouse clear lacquer. The top is bound with an incredible 9 ply binding with a wood look on the outer binding… They look awesome. No indication of any coming loose anywhere on the guitar. See pic 9!
The gold tuners are the Ibanez Gold Star Tuners. They are a very expensive tuner for this cool guitar. Check those pics.
Check out the original case! Almost as nice as the guitar. The original latches, hinges and handle are still with it as well as the accessory box. Did you see the original Warranty Card that’s still with this guitar? Incredible. See pics 16-18!!
Sold as-is no returns as its vintage and used, however, I have been hand picking my customers guitars for over 20 years now and they have all loved the instruments I found for them. This cool Ibanez Artist guitar will certainly not be an exception.
