I’m also a big fan of The Curated Closet and love your videos. Neutral coloring means you look best in colors that have some warmth and coolness to them. For example: soft white, peach-pink, teal, periwinkle, etc. As someone with neutral coloring, I cannot wear very cool or very warm colors.
Wow that's really interesting. I think that is true for me although I tend towards a cooler palette because my hair is so dark. Camel washes me out, grey makes me look yellow but a taupe brown is perfect. Whites are the trickiest because I like a softer white but it can't be cream or yellowish undertone. I find it really difficult to find that perfect off white.
I was treated to a professional color analysis 40 years ago and have always enjoyed the palette they gave me, I think it’s a great investment. In recent years (I’m 61) I have been going for the lighter tints in the palette as I’ve lost color in my hair, brows, lips/cheeks, and even eyes. (I always thought they were closer to brown, but everyone now identifies them as hazel.) My wardrobe is about 40% white, I suppose that’s my color, and the remainder is pastels and pale neutrals. I only wear the lighter tints of the cool colors, but that’s still so many to choose from!
Wow Val! You packed slot of information into this video. I really appreciate how you explained everything so clearly. This is so helpful. You look beautiful as always. Well done. Wondering if you are a teacher or English major. You always lay out your videos in such an organized format. Thank you for your inspiration and insight. ❤❤❤
Thank you for your sweet message Alma! No I’m not a teacher, but I did really want to share this information in a simple and clear way 😌 I’m glad it worked out!
I think, if starting from scratch, it helps to start with items in two light and two darker neutrals and two print tops that tie them together. I would get a top, a bottom, and an overlayer (cardigan, light jacket, etc.) in each neutral. This eight-piece capsule is a great beginning. Then, add favorite colors and prints in them that look great with your coloring. I should say patterns, not prints.
Thank you, I really liked this! Especially the color combinations, since I have most of the ones you showed but I'm not always sure how to mix them. Also thanks for mentioning black. As I have aged, I've noticed that pure black looks too harsh on me, and faded black does the trick, even if it does look a little worn.😉
Hi, really good video as always. I'm very pale and don't tan (i'm Irish) but from your video it seems i have a warm undertone, which i didn't realise before, i just knew i had difficulty finding the right colours for me. So thank you. I'm going to share this video on my FB feed 🌷
Very useful video .. please expand this topic ... and for neutral undertones skin what is better the light shades or dark shades and what is better bright tones or soft tones ????
Have you heard of bright Winters in color preferences? I think winters look best in pure, rich, cool colors. And bright winters refine this further to bright tones. I am not sure if I am looking at this correctly, so further help from you would be great!
Thanks for watching! I'd love to hear if this was helpful and what YOUR favorite colors are to wear? Let me know in the comments 😊
Yes, I like video's about color! I love khaki, burgundy and grey.
Very helpful, would love to see more :)
Another alternative to black is chocolate. It can look just as rich and dramatic as black, with with a slightly softer edge.
Yes that’s true! Thanks for the tip, I forgot about that 😅
Absolutely!

Thank for explaining that more Jannette! 😌

Whites and pastels are lovely! I also love a more muted palette 🥰

Thanks for your video ! I was wondering with what "software" you created your color palette ? :)
Hi Linda! I just used Canva 😊

I can look into that more! 😊

The pictures you show, it goes too fast! I cannot look at them well enough. Thats a shame, because it seems like a good vlog.
