- Alien: Romulus is an upcoming American science fiction horror film and a standalone installment in the Alien franchise set between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986). Directed by Fede Álvarez, who co-wrote it with Rodo Sayagues, it stars Cailee Spaeny and Isabela Merced. A production of Scott Free and Brandywire, the film is scheduled to be theatrically released by 20th Century Studios on August 16, 2024.

Romulus looks interesting and has an good feel to it. It reminds me of the look of the original film

I cant wait for this. Ive a great love of all that is Alien. Looks like Cailee Spaeny will be a great replacement for Sigourney Weaver. Can already see and feel the suspense and fear

Fede Alvarez is a great horror director, so I have high hopes for this. Also, Ridley is coming back as a Producer and the teaser is great! Looks like a mix of Alien and Aliens and some Alien Isolation (the game). Excited for this, I enjoy most of the Alien films except Alien 3, Alien Resurrection and AvP Requiem but I thought Prometheus was great (I know it not really an Alien film but it's based in the same universe) and Alien Covenant was pretty good I thought, but this looks like we going back to the first two films and that what intrigues me the most, seems to be more on a Psychological side of things and that where Alien movies excel the most at.

I do think they've been looking for a new Ripley for a long time, but they needed to find the right one.
This franchise has so much potential still in it. It's really a limitless universe of untapped stories.
For example, we still don't know what happened on LV-426. I was sure we would get that story in the 90s, and we're still waiting.

this is straight up space horror
As a big fan of the franchise I'm really looking forward to this, mostly because it doesn't look like they've relied too heavily on digital effects. I'm one of the few who enjoyed Alien 3, but the digital effects in that installment have aged so poorly there are now several moments I'd prefer to squint through in a futile attempt to maintain its original appeal. Alien Resurrection was potentially a great story, but I do think they tarnished it with the hybrid ending and that comically ridiculous character.
There are some tropes to this franchise that I'm okay with them continuing, for nostalgia's sake, but I hope they don't overdo it. A few references to what we all love is okay, but relying too much on previous notable moments just makes it feel like a repackaged compilation of "greatest hits".
Finger's crossed they did it right. If Cameron was impressed I have high hopes. He's not a man easily pleased :)
Set between Alien and Aliens? Bet you anything it's got Ripley's daughter, Amanda, in it! The parallel between Ripley and her kid with that scene at the end would be too good. That's gotta be Amanda!
From the Evil Dead the director made he’s not afraid of going there with body horror, I think his evil dead took over from the shining for most fake blood used, until that got beat by Evil Dead Rise
