The woman screaming and screaming, running and screaming, getting mauled by a dog and screaming, shot repeatedly and screaming, stabbed and screaming, immolated and screaming and SCREAMING. Was just TOO MUCH. Textbook Quinton waving his dick at the audience.

I like to think that AFTER the ending, the police investigation would reveal that Sharon and company were the intended targets and in gratitude, Polanski would cast Rick in a future movie causing the trajectory of Rick's career to take a severe turn into box office stardom.
Loved the way it ended. Managed to not hear a thing about the ending, so was just anxious that the actual murder would be shown. Hopefully there is an alternative universe where the Tate murders were stopped....

I still don't know why people got upset over how Bruce Lee was portrayed. It's a movie. Portray anyone anyway you like. People get butthurt over the dumbest things.
Great video! About the speedometer not going over zero, if you drove a car in the 1970s there's a 90% chance the speedometer didn't work lol. So I say it's spot-on accurate :-)
Concur. My first car was a 1964 Plymouth Fury. The speedo cable was old and apparently needed oiling, but I didn't know that at the time, so the needle bounced back and forth all over the speedo at any speed over 35, rendering it, similarly completely unreadable. Same result lol
Yeah, my first car was a 74 Plymouth Satellite, the speedometer and fuel gauge were both broken. Didn't care much about the speedometer but trying to guess how much gas I had was a pain in the ass.
Tarantino is my favorite director of all time. While Once upon a time wasnt my favorite film by him, its incredible the amount of thought he puts into every film he makes. It just adds so much to them overall that makes them so much more enjoyable to watch.
My motto is: "An absolutely perfect movie has to have car chases, gun fights, and blowing sh*t up!" So, leave it to Tarantino to "Game. Set. Match." my expectations, throwing in the most beautiful pitbull as the cherry on top! My daughter, who doesn't care for violence, said this: "Usually, I don't care for gratuitous violence. However, since I know the backstory of Sharon's murder, I would say the violence was . . . warranted."
Unfortunately I’m with you. I had no idea of The Manson family case watching the movie. If I had known about it the movie would have been so much more suspenseful.
True, my husband and I knew every little nuance and loved it. My son watched it and didn’t get parts of it as he wasn’t sure why some things happened the same way I did. But I loved it. It was a walk down memory lane.
As great of an actor, Leo is, I think Brad Pitt had the best performance of the entire cast. Don't get me wrong, it was a great ensemble with outstanding work. But that scene with Cliff Booth at Spawn Ranch was amazing. Tarantino's passion, attention to detail, and cinematic brilliance helps too, lol. Bravo 👏 👏
No one ever mentions that, in the movie, Roman Polanski (Sharon Tate’s husband) calls his little dog Saperstein. Which is the name of the doctor in Rosemary’s Baby. Which was a huge hit for Polanski. I guess I’m just too much of a movie nerd since I feel like I’m the only person who catches that.
Nope. It wasn't just you. The guy reading the copy sucked hard at the job.The fake speech patterns were aggravating,so much so I almost stopped it at number one.
I didn't see the film until a couple of weeks ago, on Netflix, and loved it. The 60s is a period that fascinates me, anyway, but I loved it that Sharon and her friends survived in this timeline.
Is like hearing two person speaking at the same time. I never felt so disturbed by someone talking like now. You start the word so high and finish is low and deep. Is really weird and hard to focus on the video.
Growing up in the 60's and 70's, I can totally relate to this movie. I've watched it 5 times. Great movie. Pitt and Dicaprio are, as usual, outstanding. Quentin Tarrentino is a force and one of the best directors of our era.
"Once upon a time" is my favorite magnum opus and Tarantino's finest work. Living and working in Los Angeles area, I had my drive home re-routed two hours out of our way during the filming of "La La Land" on the 105 freeway. If the same thing had happened to me for the making of "Hollywood" I would have been a lot less aggravated, probably felt honored in a way. And the scene during "Hollywood" seeing the 101 freeway filled with vintage cars circa 1969, was an amazing segment of the movie and one of my favorite bits. Tarantino's amazing flair for detail in making the other cars vintage 50's and -60's was a true time capsule for me from a time when the open road was truly open, and not a congested stop and go mess for 16 hours a day! So it was very much worth it, to most of us "true" Californians anyway, for Tarantino to shut down those freeways in order to make a bit of history! Considering the final product was 100% better, and just about legendary, compared to the completely forgettable "La La Land".
I can’t believe you gave away the Cliff Booth part in the book! I finally got a chance to order it from Amazon yesterday, and of all the luck, I would watch this the day before I get the novelization of the movie!!
I’m so tired of people venerating Bruce Lee. Yeah, he was a great martial artist but he weighed like 130 pounds. Idc how fast he was or how many one-finger pushups he could do, a modern heavyweight fighter like Brock Lesnar would eat the first 3-4 shots, grab him, and just plain mutilate him.
Finally watched this movie after hearing about it for years. The run time kind of put me off; very few movies hold your interest for almost three hours. I had only a very vague idea of what it was about so the ending was a very pleasant surprise. And the run time didn't matter because it's a great movie all the way through. Always loved Tarentino's movies but I think this may be his best, or maybe tied with Pulp Fiction.

I always interpreted the fight scene between Pitt and the actor playing Lee was to show just how bad ass Pitts character was to go toe to toe with Lee. Thus justifying why he easily dispatched the hippies. FYI: Bruce Lee was also supposed to be at the Tate party that night.
If you read Thomas Pynchon, he weaves historical facts within the altered reality of his novels. Interweaving to make a new story. Tarantino is great but you can't tell me he has not read Pynchon
Alot of people don't know but playboy playmate Cynthia Myers was a good friend of Sharon Tate and was there that night but left early because she wasn't feeling well, I knew her personally and she was a lovely person
I actually watched this film on a plane with earphones in. During the final scene, with all the violence, I was laughing extremely loud. I loved every nuance of that scene. I grew up having known the actual horrific story from a young age, so to see it unfold in Tarantino's masterpiece the way it did, was extremely satisfying. I only hope the people looking over my shoulder at what I was laughing so hard at, didn't think I was crazy.😊
There are a lot of people who hate this movie. I’m not one of them. I love it because somehow it captures that time and place so well. It’s a total vibe. I was just a kid back then, but I do remember it. It’s nostalgic for me.
I for one will always remember James Stacy as a remarkable person and actor! His life was filled with a accident that changed his life forever. James Stacy, hit by a drunk driver, lost his entire left leg and most of his left arm in 1973. The problems he suffered, turning to drinking was to ease his pain. But he was strong enough, with a great zest for life, that he came back to acting. As far as the conviction, don't believe it, as there were never any other crimes, not one child actor that he worked with ever came forward. The girl that claimed he touched her couldn't remember on what visit it happened on. Her mom allowed her there 3 times, to learn how to swim. If it happened, it was probably an accidental touch. I will always believe in his innocence. May James Stacy rest in peace. 🙏🌹💖💖💖💖
I gotta hand it to Tarentino . I grew up right in the middle of alla this. All of the “Stacy” scenes WERE RIGHT ON THE MONEY. James was a customer at “Bud Ekins Motorcycles” where I was a “Triumph” mechanic , and I used to tune James’ “650cc Triumph TR6”. And not only did he lose an arm & a leg his girlfriend was on the back and she “lost” her life. Terrible scene, and a real shame kuz Stacey HAD TALENT !
This guy's voice is killing me. I want to watch the video but it is so annoying I don't think I can. He has the same cadence as that Elizabeth Holmes weirdo. The way he lands the last word of each sentence is making me dizzy. I didn't know a person's voice could do that.
I love how DiCaprio’s character has a not-so-subtle stutter when not in front of the camera. Maybe this is a nod to Samuel L Jackson? This is one of the few movies of Tarantino’s where he didn’t make an appearance…
I think the appellative 'Once Upon a Time' is not really derived from previous film titles, and more an allusion to fairy tales - the narrative of the Tate murders being foiled by Cliff and Dalton clearly is an alternate reality - a fairy tale ending.
I love fictional violence, as a kid I watched R rated action movies played M rated games and read mature graphic novels and manga but violence in real life is not a good thing and I’m tired of that argument.
