Osmanthus is definitely my all-time favorite fragrance in the garden. This is a beauty! Thanks!

Osmanthus is associated with the city of Hangzhou in China. There are a lot of bushes of it there as there are in New Orleans. Hangzhou is USDA Zone 9a.

I love the three regular osmanthus I planted last summer, although I haven't noticed any fragrance from them yet. I think my yard is a couple weeks behind everyone else since I'm in a bit of a valley compared to surrounding areas but there are flowers now, and they're so sweet, even if you have to go looking for them.

I have experimented with pruning an Osmanthus to the ground but found that it didn’t bloom for the first two years afterwards. I now just cut the oldest 1/3 of branches to the base every other year. This doesn’t affect the flowering, and seems to rejuvenate the plant.

I got 3 of these from Mr maple this year, after you spoke about tea olives on the other channel.

I probably should move to a warmer climate, but as strange as it sounds I would miss the snow in winter.🍁🍂🍁🦃💚🙃

Thank you very much for sharing! I love Osmanthus, but I'm afraid that they would not survive outside in the winters of New York City. Does anyone have success stories around New York City or farther north?

Would you recommend some sun projection or could it take a west sun location in zone 7 (central OK)?

I’m in 9b No Cal. With lots of clay. Planted two osmanthus last fall and the leaves are not green like yours. Since you mention that they will not show iron deficiency, do you have any thoughts about what the issue could be?
