Love this plant. It’s a tough one for sure.. I planted on a slope on the edge of a wood line (sun after noon) about 1.5 years ago & haven’t watered or fertilized it. It’s about 3x3 now & looks great! Hoping to add a few more.

I have many Rusty Blackhaw Viburnums in my 1+acre yard. They are similar in some ways with berries changing from pink to a dark blueberry color. It has lovely white flowers in the spring which are about 5” in diameter. The leaves are very different from the shrub you have. The leaves on my trees are a little thicker and super glossy. The leaves also turn a beautiful burgundy color in the fall just before the tree sheds it’s leaves. The tallest tree is about 20 high and the same width. It is at least 50 years old.

Jim would you mind retelling me the easy way to tell what dahlia flowers look like after they are on their way out as opposed to on their way in. It was such a help last year but my old brain has deleted that information. Thank you so much

I think the new buds are round and the other old ones go pointy if that helps x

I purchased a Brandywine viburnum from Proven Winners last summer. It had glossy green leaves and then promptly defoliated after I planted it up, zone 9a Cypress, TX in part sun semi moist soil. It didn’t bloom or have berries or change color last year. I nursed it through winter and it came back this spring looking great but no flower buds? I haven’t acidified the soil but it has good compost and Plant Tone. Any additional tips to get it to bloom?

It can take a few years for them to bloom heavily. Mine hardly bloomed in the first two years, maybe just a few flowers. By year 3 they take off.
