  • This famous study needs no introduction and is probably my favourite Chopin étude. There are some really tricky sections to play in this piece. It took me forever to learn this but I'm happy with how the recording turned out, especially the ending.
I felt that my hands had to be really warmed-up to play it at this tempo, which demands flexibility but also stamina in the right hand; there have been several times in practice where my hands have burnt out at 1:15, which is actually my favourite part of the piece.
There are also nuances in the left hand which I thought were interesting 0:53 - such as at . The score is based off the Henle Urtext edition. Taming the technical difficulties in a performance is pretty satisfying, but the multitude of interpretations this piece offers makes it all the more fun to play.
