Even though many say they’re a weak faction, the Minutemen in *Fallout 4* are actually very accurate in terms of power compared to their real-life counterparts. Anyone who has studied history knows that the Minutemen were mostly made up of civilians (after all, they were a local militia) who would hide weapons everywhere to defend themselves against the British at any moment. So, it’s true that they were incredibly quick. However, one important thing to note is that the Minutemen were *not good* marksmen. Their main arsenal consisted of muskets, but they were still just civilians with little military training. Their collaboration with the regular army was mainly to apply pressure through flanking maneuvers, hit-and-run tactics, and usually to buy time until the army arrived to help them. Therefore, if they aren’t seen using military-grade weapons or better armor in the game, it’s simply to emphasize that none of them are soldiers and only had access to conventional or improvised weapons. In fact, they didn’t even have a real uniform; many just wore their work clothes. So, the truth is that the Minutemen in FO4 are actually stronger than they ever were in real life.

I could see scavenging being a big core of the minutemen, even if they’re lackluster marksmen. That was always my biggest gripe, you’ve liberated the entire commonwealth but never see them in power armor are using heavy weapons. It just seemed weird to me is all.
@@whirrlygg9321 Personally, considering how rare power armor is SUPPOSED to be, it's never made much sense to me that they should be wearing the stuff outside of maybe some extremely "special" instances. Weapons I can agree with, while most are just volunteer farmers who probably wouldn't be able to maintain/afford full blown combat armor and prewar assault rifles, you would think that at some point after them growing in power they would be given some form of cheap yet better quality primary armament that fits their overall arsenal. The militia rifle mod always made the most sense to me in this regard, a cheaply produceable and customizable weapon that could make up for the weaknesses of the musket without outright replacing it. My personal cannon has always been to designate certain settlements as military forts/outposts as I progress, giving the people standard uniforms and weapons. I like to pretend these guys are a small but standing army that works with the lower-level militia similar to how Aldritch describes the IRL revolutionary war minutemen. I wish something similar existed in the base game or even a mod, though I'm fine with just "playing pretend" as it gives me a goal to make unique settlements with a certain style in mind.
"Did you ever find it weird that the only way to get Minutemen clothes is to loot them from corpses?" Bruh, you can buy them from settlers once you assign them to a clothing shop. The hat is kind of a pain because it requires a max level shop, but the clothing stand will sell 2 of the clothes pretty much every day, and that's PER settlement. You can easily outfit every settler in your settlements with Minutemen clothes (something I like to do with the Castle) if you just are patient with the restocking. It should also be mentioned that Minutemen Clothes are fully upgradeable with Ballistic Weave, so if you REALLY want to go ham with it, you can outfit all of your settlers with max level Baillistic Weave Minutemen armor which will make them better equipped than any humanoid enemy except MAYBE a Gunner Brigadier.
@@archdornan8349not just that the minutemen and you're own vender can sell more minutemen outfits an hats even dusters depending on the level of the Clothing store it's only special you're settlement which is a bonus you can buy minutemen Clothing anywhere in the commonwealth what makes this unique is once you get the ballistic weave you can upgrade the minutemen outfits ballistic weave is limited in the item department ballistic weave was thought of for someone building the minutemen outfits I in the ballistic weave which is nice plus you can outfit them with whatever armor set you want I usely go with a more traditional look minutemen ballistic weave with either leather upgraded or normal combat without the helmet ⛑ and with creation club you can put minutemen leather or any armor with minutemen logo and blue looks nice and when you're buying from shaw or vender you can upgrade there laser muskets all this could be to hard for you're average job player that doesn't understand building a faction or city's should in short just stick to the brotherhood of steel or other factions not saying that player's that complain about minutemen suck at faction building or anything not saying they suck at even gear up there companions not that at all just might not be the faction for you is all lol I hear the brotherhood of steel is recruiting at you're local Station might want to sign up yourself
glad I'm not the only one that noticed that, now yes you won't find them at normal trader stores, but Minutemen apparel can be bought if you setup a store yourself. now the catch is, you need to have the Castle taken care of first. but once that's taken care of, then you can open up a clothing store.
I use the Militarized Minutemen and add in Service Rifle and Carbine mods. Makes it almost akin to NCR troopers. Just imagine a bunch of Minutemen looking like Vietnam era US soldiers.
One mod I found could also fulfill what "Minutemen Takeover" accomplishes, but is also more up-to-date. I'll admit I haven't tried it yet, but "Nuka World Plus" adds a way to complete Open Season by calling in a Commonwealth faction of your choice (Minutemen, BoS, Railroad, or Institute) to help oust the Nuka World Raiders.
I carry that one as a go-to. The voice-acting for the PC is kind of stilted but outside of a mod like Sim Settlements, I don't really expect an overhaul to reach that deep. But it definitely lends a bit more "meat" to the content of a good SS taking on Nuka-World.
(Insert my shameless plug for Liberty Reborn). But for real, the mod is great and it buffs the minutemen a bunch. Like, stronger than the brotherhood and enclave combined, so i can see why it wouldnt be everyone's cup of tea
Although i have to say the ranger and scout look sick, if you only want one mod minutemen armor try militarized minutemen it also has a shop in the castle where you can buy any of the armor and backpacks (that actually give you storage.)
The minute men Mod Liberty Reborn is definitely worth it and doesn't conflict with other mods hardly at all. It adds a much more fun aspect by giving the minutemen better weapons and gear and allowing a completely new option when you add defense to settlements by allowing you to recruit different minutemen units. It essentially makes the minutemen equivalent to the brotherhood.
Another great mod for feeling like a general and commanding armies would be FCOM (Fallout Commander). Not only does js allow you to command minutemen, but also other units from the other factions (BoS, RailRoad, Institute, and if you use the cheat thing, forgot how, enclave). You can have up to 4 squads of 9 (36 units in total) and they spawn at certain locations and have to run to the player, giving a better feeling of immersion then spawning out of thing air. It also makes settlements useful as you need them to generate comman points which are used to call in the troops (a unique currency that gives 1 cp per settlement, making them more valuable) and if you don't got cp for early game reasons, you can also higher gunner mercs for caps. Great mod I recommend for those who want to feel like a general. I might try to see if it is compatible with the radiant reinforcement as it could be a great combination if they play mice together, and gives me more troops. Overall though I like the list and will definetly try out some of these.
I just installed: Angry Artillery, a foot patrol/freedom of movement one, Militarized Minutemen and the add on. Along side it, a 1 GB worth of Firearms so that neither I or them have to touch the vanilla weapons.
You saying you don't mind immersion being broken as a NV player, while showing Boone fading into non-existence mid-speech as he is being dismissed is pure comedy!
Anna Hargreaves sells minutemen clothing and hats if you give her a clothing store. If you set up clothing stores they will also sell minutemen clothing and hats.
I saw some minutemen mods I liked and wanted to try but forgot about them. quite a few I saw and liked are here. if I ever install fallout 4 again will have to pick up some mods
For the radio mod, check out the AVS plate carrier mod (forgetting the name). The AVS 5 has a double antenna setup, which would jive well since you could need to have separate radios/frequencies.
The best for me is still the Minutemen Overhaul 2.0 & Minutemen Radiant Squads. 2 mods that are staple in my Load Order that overhauls both problems with the Minutemen Faction.
I kinda want to learn how to mod Fallout 4 because I have had this idea of bases that the factions fight over and control is flipped between them as the game goes on. This would somehow also include the DLC maps and factions would send forces to attack them as well, but only once they reach a certain point or already have the ability too. This would also play out as the faction you side with gets boosted, but the final fight is more than one zone of the base map. As you are taking fighting through the institute, you get pings that other bases are under attack. I also want to make it, so the BOS blimp would move to fight in base battles and can be taken over. With each faction have a beefed up HQ base that can be destroyed or taken over. Both having ups and downs as if a faction HQ is taken, their remaining bases will do anything to get it back but also forcing the other factions to team up against you. Killing a base may cause the same, but you get a ton of recourses. I even thought of a leveling system where bases unlock things for the factions, like 2 bases that give the holding faction 4-5 V Birds to use. It would take years to mod this, as it's basically turning Fallout into an RTS game that's mostly automated besides the faction you choose.

But the forums I look at cant agree if Yawa1 is outdated and buggy or still useful due to recent next gen update
These mods look neat, but i got to criticize the officer in the Minutemen Radiant Squads mod. Her outfit doesn't scream "minutemen" to me. She looks more like a 40k Commissar or SS officer with the trench coat and black officers cap thats too clean to my liking. She honestly looks like she fit in with the Enclave with how she is dressed. I would only get that mod if they changed her wardrobe. You and what army 2 though, while i'm not interested in the minute men outposts much, i do like the settlement options it gives because i would like some kind of settlement device to generate minute men for me to use as gaurd posts and wander around the settlement besides dressing up settlers in stolen minute men clothing.
For those who don't know, you can actually buy Minutemen hat and clothes from level 4 Merchant Anne Hargraves once you assign her to a clothing shop. So you don't need to slaughter innocent people for a glorified cowboy hat

I have no idea on console but the mod page says the quest won't start if you are in sanctuary. so you should travel to the castle or someplace else to get it to start.

Wtf 😂 did you just say the only way the get full minutemen outfits is to kill them the minutemen are a special case you're supposed to get a Clothing Store In you're settlement yes you're settlement vendors that are in diamond city don't sell minutemen stuff so you have to male you're own Clothing vender they sell minutemen outfits and hats if lucky you get a duster as well this also depends on how big you're Clothing store is tiers the bugger the better they sell outfits to gear up the minutemen outfits and settlers all you need is to outfit them them there minutemen outfits with armor of you're choosing and if that's not enough when you get ballistic weave it's not just special to the railroad you can use ballistic weave for minutemen with the limited items you can weave the minutemen is in there

There’s some mods that replaced guns with other guns, so you could replace pipe guns with stuff like the sten.

Wtf 😂 did you just say the only way the get full minutemen outfits is to kill them the minutemen are a special case you're supposed to get a Clothing Store In you're settlement yes you're settlement vendors that are in diamond city don't sell minutemen stuff so you have to male you're own Clothing vender they sell minutemen outfits and hats if lucky you get a duster as well this also depends on how big you're Clothing store is tiers the bugger the better they sell outfits to gear up the minutemen outfits and settlers all you need is to outfit them them there minutemen outfits with armor of you're choosing and if that's not enough when you get ballistic weave it's not just special to the railroad you can use ballistic weave for minutemen with the limited items you can weave the minutemen is in there
