people who haven't struggled with acne really have no idea how awful and paralyzing it is. your confidence really goes downhill it's insane. :(
... i have something called seborrheic dermatitis. Way worse than acne. Hairline hair falls out so do eyebrows dramatically . It’s basically dandruff but on the skin and there’s no cure it always there. Ugh.
@@lukewilliams4740 you’re still beautiful
@@lukewilliams4740 I just had that a couple weeks ago. I had it for months and I went to the dermatologist and they gave me stuff to clear it. So there’s a cure
I have never ever had a single pimple on my face and almost never on the rest of my body, either. And I am 19 yrs old. I do not understand that struggle but I hope that people who struggle with it learn to love themselves. And remember that you are not gonna have it forever! and you are still beautiful with acne, that does not define who you are. Also remember that even with clear skin, people still have insecurities. So we must learn to love ourselves in every stage of life. Sending lots of love!

the prettiest people have been through acne
Aww what a good mindset, thank you xx
I have severe acne that’s clearing up so fast and this made my confidence skyrocket
Thank you for motivating me 😌
for real
This boosted my confidence thank you
Bruh acne will humble you real quick! I honestly wish everybody could experience acne just once in their life bc people with clear skin don't even realize how much of their confidence lies in their appearance. Everybody will say looks don't matter that much until they got a face full of zits lol
Amen.
I’m so humbled now
Can’t help but agree 💯
YES YES YES
Sayyyy it louder for the people in the back!!
I did Accutane. My only regret is not doing it sooner.
Does that really affect your skin ???
Do you have scars? And/or ice pick scars?
@@narutosinuyasha11 Never had scars

Acne makes my confidence go:📉

Sorry
So crazy how acne can change your perspective about life- totally understand where you are coming from. Makes you 10x more conscious about what matters most. Thanks for sharing this Summer xxx
1000%
Yeah nothing is like having a face full of gross cystic acne on ur face. You just wanna not leave the house
i’ve had acne since i was 12 and i’m almost 17 still have to acne absolutely kills your confidence

try dr bronners tea tree soap, or look up nolaskinessentials and try their products they r natural and really good on skin
Same girl except now I'm 21 and it's still here! A bit better but my skin texture will never be the same :(
Had it since I was 9... I’m 15 now and it just bothers me too look in the mirror and seeing my face look like this
When I had severe acne it makes me appreciate my clear skin that I have now. I use to freak out with mild breakouts but now it doesn’t even phase me because I had WORST acne.
For me its different I had such bad acne that hurt to wash it just genuinely touch it, so of course I went to a doctor it cleared and ever time I would get a little break out I freak out so scared it would go back to it. I was right it has 🥴✌
Same
I'm the opposite i freak out every time i have one pimple now and go all out with the spot treatment, salicylic acid cleanser and pimple patch because I'm so scared of getting bad acne again considering I worked so hard to get clear skin again. Noone talks about how hard it is to not only have acne, but be on accutane/benzoyl peroxide cream. Not only did i have acne to worry about, but literal scaly skin that peeled off
Just started accutane yesterday, kinda nervous, but ready for clear skin. I can totally relate to Summer and everyone in the comments. I’m tired of letting acne control my every waking moment. That sounds dramatic, but it’s the truth
I feel u. I started accurate recently as well (1 week ago). We’ll get through this. It’s also working for me already

🥰 I love this comment! Thank you for the smile. 💕
Currently on adapalene, definetly not the same as accutane, but I so badly want clear skin. Here’s to anyone who is currently trying to clear their skin 💗
I’m on adapalene too and benzoyl peroxide. It cleared my skin. It took a good 6 weeks but I am so glad I found it. It did make me purge but then everything cleared up. Wishing you the best of luck!
@@laurenelizabeth2955 That's good! I'm currently on week 9 and still purging pretty badly, but I refuse to lose hope lol
I use it 2x a day. I also think the BP is a huge part of it! Stay strong!
How do u use adapalene ? Can 16 year use it
@@lilly9843 I use it only at night after using a gentle foaming cleanser. I use a small amount all over my face, wait till it settles then moisterizer. I believe ages 12 and up can use it, but definitely research/look into it. It definitely requires a lot of patience, especially if you purge
this comment section makes me feel so safe :,) i start accutane next month

How was ur accutane journey? Did it help?
currently in accutane for the second time, pretty low dose so it’s a long journey, I’ve had pretty bad acne most of my teenage years and I’m just. So. Sick. Of. It. I do believe it makes you reaaally humble and more sympathetic and I just wish more people were aware that it’s not a matter of “cut out fast food” and “clean your face more” shit advice. With that being said, I really enjoyed the video and I hope my face clears up one day for good!! xx

so happy for you! acne is so hard to deal with, to anyone dealing with it right now: I want you to know that you are beautiful :)
Summer, you're the only one who inspires me about my confidence. It's amazing how your skin changed, I would never belive it if u didn't show it. I have struggled with blackheads and acne for many years and get low self-esteem. Continue inspiring other teenagers!💖 Love u💕
Totally love your transparency on literally all of the topics, including depression. It's a hard time we're in especially right now with everything that's been going on with the virus and quarantine. I've been following you for quite some years and I've noticed the change you've gone through a bit more recently as a youtuber and content creator at such a young age. I'm so happy to see you happier and MOTIVATED and also having realized the importance of mental health. You're so real and still one of my favorite youtubers. ✨
i loved this, i'm currently on the road to clear skin without accutane, and i totally relate to having a changed perspective due to acne. i'm the same way, i look at life and especially people very differently now. i've been going through this for five years now, so to anyone reading this who can't see the light ahead i promise your acne will get better!!! love and light xoxoxo
Did u manage to take control over acne?? I’m so scared of taking this drug

I just can't help but think God is going to use this journey of yours for good. I started watching your channel right when you began accutane, as I did too, at the same age and I found so much comfort in your videos and your voice that seemed to speaking what exactly I was feeling. You inspire me and you’ve helped me. So glad I found your channel and look forward to following your videos for much longer because I love all of your content 😊
You look gorgeous no matter what!!! So happy for how far you have come! Love you!💓
I'm on month 3 of accutane and some days it feels like my skin won't ever get better, but this video gave me so much hope. I am currently at the sate where my skin isn't purging anymore and it's calming down. I can't wait until my skin looks like yours does right now. I've had horrible skin since I was 15 and am now 22 so these past years have been really hard on me mentally. It's so crazy how your skin can hurt your mental state and it is so real! Thank you for opening up and showing us your story!! much love!!
Good luck was near same, calmed after 2 months, then just past 5 months and flared up. Biggest kick in face. Couldn't believe it but also can cos feel cursed, like it teased to get better then it laughed I'm bk. Happened so much try something, bit of hope then it comes bk. Agree whatever it is, when it's on face it destroys you mentally. I'd advise to try treat it younger & don't wait cos with each flare up it leaves damage. Otherwise you'd be me near 20 yrs of flare ups now in late 30s with mixture of acne roascea sun blemish uneven skin that heals so slow so it's constant loop of visible scabs & blotchy.

Today marks my first week on accutane after struggling with very persistent acne for years! Great time to post this video Summer, thanks! ❤
Please don't continue with Accutane. There are so many side effects. Search them online
@@katerinagal5696 i‘m sure everybody who starts accutane really did research beforehand. tbh i don‘t feel like you have the right to judge anyone for going on accutane :)
That’s amazing! I finished Accutane in September and I am so happy I did it. I still have scarring but my break outs are limited (mostly maskne)! Best of luck to you 😘
Wish you well. I was on accutane back in march of 2019 and had to stop taking it on may 15th 2019. The day I realized my health was getting compromised. I developed extreme anxiety, insomnia and depression. It was surreal. I had panic attacks a couple times a week and cried out of helplessness. I remember reading the warnings online about mental health issues undergoing this drug and I just kinda laughed it off because I was desperate to clear my cystic acne. On top of the horrific mindset I had experienced, I developed painful IBS. Like...bleeding out of my asshole cuz even my stool wasnt lubricated cuz accutane dries the body inside and out.
Did a ton of research before taking this drug and lemme tell you...This drug is poison. I remember after a mental breakdown and during a sleepless night I helplessly layed there thinking of how far I've gone to get clear skin and so much damage I had done to my body.
It took 3 solid months for the side effects to wear off. I continued nursing school 2019 of august and here I am 2020 and still have acne but I'm in a healthy mindset now.
After going to several dermatologists I have come to the conclusion that they genuinely dont care about their patients. I'm thinking of seeing an endocrinologist and do some intense blood work to see what I can do to change my lifestyle to cure my hormonal acne in a healthy fulfilling manner. Dermatologists will put you on spironolactone, antibiotics, birth control which is very harmful to the body and mind and lastly accutane the worst of them all.
Not trying to scare you I hope you have a better experience!! I sure as hell didnt! Lol!
@@katerinagal5696 every medicine has side effects , you should google the side effects of some completely simple day to day medicines because they have some scary ones without you even realising. Millions of people go on accutane as it works and can even save some people’s lives. They can continue with it if they want it’s not your place to have your say
Omg I started accutane 5.5 months ago and my skin is definitely clearing but I still have so many scars and I feel so lost sometimes. I cant wait to watch this

This is insane I am on the exact same timeline as you. Had pretty much clear skin my whole life and then in August started randomly breaking out and it’s progressively gotten worse since. im a bit older than you summer but i witnessed your sadness back then and it was heartbreaking. you got thru it and came out to the other side more beautiful and stronger. so, it was a life lesson on things that matter, and to let you know that how you feel ALWAYS come first than materialistic and superficial things in life.

thank you so much! i have the exact same acne, u give me hope💘💘
I've always struggled with acne, but when I was 18-21, I experienced TERRIBLE cystic acne just like yours! I went on accutane (40mg) for five months when I was 20, and it didn't clear up until I was 22. It was exhausting and so mentally challenging to not want to walk down the street near my college in fear that someone would look at me. I had coworkers asking me if I had tried washing my face, children would ask what was wrong with my face, etc.
Thank you for sharing your struggle with this.
Luckily my skin is mostly clear now! I tried SO many skincare products and routines, which just adds to the "Have you tried washing your face?" insult!
i love you Sums you are such a example and you are so inspiring!

I was also on accutane and just got off last month. I really felt you on the last bit when you said how being in the bad state may lead you to being unkind to others as well as yourself. I definitely struggled mentally during the process and regret some things I said and how I reacted to things as well, but I would also say I wish I had some support from friends. If you know anyone on accutane, try to be there for them and try not to take everything that they say literally bc most of the time they have a difficult time filtering their thoughts and emotions (at least I did).
I’ve been so self conscious about my skin for years and two months ago I finally started accutane!! It still has not improved much but I know to be patient with it to see results so I cannot wait for when that time comes! Thank you for being so open about this. It helps me a lot knowing that other people are going through what I’m going through too!
Did it work ?
Such an inspiring video! I love you Summer!
