Due to necessary track repair work at NY Penn Station, starting July 10th, 2017, 3 round trips of the Empire Corridor Service began serving Grand Central Terminal, marking Amtrak's regular return to GCT for the first time in several decades. The P42DC is isolated, and only functions as a cab car. Shot between the hours of 9:45 to 11:30, and 1:20 to 2:30. Enjoy the action =)

Check them out!
Just realized Metro North really likes keeping their locomotives clean
Yeah
I reaziled as well
49:46 Talk about a tight schedule!
XD
I love the genesis engines chugging noise
32:10 That P32 sounds like an F59PHI when its on AC power.
0:36 RACE OF THE M7’s
Viajar por Amtrak es 1ra clse, me encanta!
5:23 I really thought that was Amtrak until I saw metro north
That locomotive #225 has some welding on its side. Wonder what happened? We have an answer...It was involved in the 2013 metro North derailment
holy shitake, 225 has bent dented
CTRail1996 Cause it was involved in the 2013 metro North derailment
What lens do you typically use? Also, do you use a monopod or something? Your videos are quite stable.
I wonder the same too!
At 37:29 why was the cab car horn blowing
Probably saying hi to the camera guy
12:49 TRAIN!!!!!!
On the Amtrak Trains why do the Bells ring when it departs and when it arrives at a station or sometimes it continuously ring loud
Michael Tunbridge depends on the engineer, some just leave it going to whole ride others only turn it on when they are approaching a station or a crossing
@@vader97100 ive never EVER heard of engineers who keep the bell on the whole ride, that would drive them crazy
24:21 why does the M8s say "Croton-Harmon" when that's suppose to go to Stamford
Very Very Very Rarely An M8 runs on the Harlem line so that was a Great catch
Coastline Cruiser croton Harmon the Hudson line
The m8s are made like that because they are backup trains for any line expect Port Jervis line and pasack valley line
And it doesn’t have to go to Stamford it can go to New Haven
@@matthewontop154 some of them run express to stamford so they could be used on the new canaan branch
This freight train that appears at 58:03 is transporting materials for the LIRR east access works?
5:59 How come he sounds like he's on diesel mode when it should be 3rd rail?
It seems like they change to diesel while in motion before harlem because they were on diesel before harlem and i know that they have to switch to third rail in grand central. Maybe they do it because that way they dont need to do it later.
Metro North P32AC-DM's electric mode is designed to only be ran for 10-15 minutes. Usually somewhere between the 97th st portal and Harlem-125th street, the change can be made from electric mode to diesel mode.
Because the New Haven line which I rode for 30 years from Pelham to New Haven or overhead wires and use pantographs.
At 10:02 is there always someone operating the P32 when it’s pushing the train to grand Central Terminal
No. They are operated by the cab car. So whatever setting the throttle is in, the locomotive responds to that and will push to the speed needed. You were probably thinking of the FL9s as they operate like that
interessantes Video und Züge.
I have a question about the Metro North P32AC-DMs. When do they change to third rail before going underground?
So the Diesel's Fumes does not seep into Grand Central, Amtrak's P32AC-DM's work the same way
Amtrak has P42s
Brandon likestrains
They also have P32AC-DMs. The ones in the video are all P32AC-DMs.They are used on all Amtrak lines going to NY Penn that don't travel via the Northeast Corridor, but are usually switched out for P42DCs because they are more powerful. Occasionally, the trains keep the P32AC-DMs.
The power changeover on the Metro North P32AC-DM is made somewhere between Harlem-125th street and the 97th street portal.
hey fan railer, I need your help, I think I deleted something on my computer that made my train sound mods, What did I delete and how can I fix it?
Not trying to argue and Amtrak at one point years ago did go to Grand Central Terminal but stopped doing so simply because it is a terminal trains not go on beyond that point. While some of the diesel trains may say Amtrak on the side it's still Metro North commuter railroad Amtrak branches off at New Rochelle and ends up in Penn Station I say this because I commuted from Rye to Grand Central Terminal over a 30-year period.
Great video!!
37:30 some engineer honked the horn and bell.
I'm definitely a rail fan
18:10 does anyone know where the chime sound comes from on the train? They use it in my home town Ottawa on the outside of buses to announce what route it’s on. For example:
“ ‘ding dong’ Route 82 Bayshore (then repeats in French)” Is it a sound available on the internet or something?
After that chime sound the automated announcer indicates the train station stop and then announce the next stop and warns of closing doors.
I didnt know that Amtrck ran on the metro north
Super Film 😊Weiter so.
Why was there an Amtrak trains?
i love the cab car
What is that doo-dad on top of the trains with the red stripe? It kind of looks like some sort of cooling thingy...
It’s met for AC as those trains are dual voltage that’s the only place where they can put the AC stuff, in that hump thing.
Wow so much wrong railing in that first clip
The only thing I have against these metro north trains are as follows; why can't they put red wagons with other reds and blue with blue? I believe red are the connecticut trains and blue as the mta trains.
That is the question. Why are CT coaches running up and down NY State lines?
why the Kawasaki M8's can't use e-bells?
Empire service does not pass at harlem 125..
Or maybe it was a re-route
Read the description.
Witch lines on what track
24:13 is that ur friend?
That’s big Metro had to sound loud
Whoa
31:10 is what your looking for
Thx
24:11 💀
Ok
First
TransitOne RBLX im 0 since nobody called it
Great video!
P.S. It's always cool to see the many trains of Metro-North at once as well as the races of their trains!
