      Thanks LA,
well yes, occasionally I do make a bit of an effort for my videos to be entertainment but at the same time, I have to be careful not to spoil people, so I have to make sure that I put out a nice tedious video from time to time. 😛
Glad you enjoyed it, scooters are fun, fun, fun !
If this one brightened your day, then it was totally worth the effort of making it ( although it was made just before I left for my trip to Germany, in a week when I had to film, edit and upload three videos to keep people busy whilst I was away. Quite a hectic week that was, I think I filmed another video this very same day ! ).
Cheers Stephen, hope you get a decent night's sleep tonight 🤞

      @@МартинДиклиев Hi,
could you tell me which model EXACTLY you are thinking about buying ?
These days the Malagutis are made in China I believe. Mine is from the previous iteration of Malaguti when the bikes were still made in Italy. Malaguti later went bankrupt and the brand was later revived with new models which are being made in China.
I can certainly recommend my F12 50 LC, if you can find one second hand !

@@economicalrides it's a phantom f12r from 2007. Its liquid cooled as well. I appreciate the information there is almost no information on these machines. And scooter culture as a whole seems to be a very limited community which is sad . It should be the dominant transportation for bigger cities when it's not absolutely freezing 🥶.

@@МартинДиклиев Oh, in that case it should be great. That will be like mine, just newer and better 👍
Mine has been lightly tuned and as I mentioned in the video, the vario limiter has gone missing 🤗
I think that it is a bit difficult to get parts like plastics these days, but the engine is one used by various other manufacturers and things like the vario can be replaced by tuning parts anyway. I paid 600 EUR second hand for mine, about 10 years ago. It’s the best 600 EUR I ever spent. The bike is so practical, economical and reliable. I no longer really need it but I can’t bring myself to sell it. It’s practical and fun 🥰
Hope this helps. The LC 50cc Phantom is brilliant in my opinion but yes, a bit exotic. You don’t see many of them on the roads !

I thought you resembled a Storm Trooper, and you proved you were when you hit light speed ! 😆 I once lost a litre of rum when I loaded it next to another glass bottle. Bit of a mess in the bike trunk. I have since carried a small towel to separate glass.... I hope your temp sensor continues to work😉 Cheers woof to Ruby

      Hi Lance,
yes you are right. As an alcohol expert I agree that the bottles should always be separated with a towel, as in my pannier video where I purchased four full bottles.
For the purposes of this experiment I used empties, so didn’t need to bother with the towel. That scooter is so much fun but also a lifesaver in a beer emergency 😂

Oh and re the temp sensor….one time whilst doing extreme off-roading in the dry river bed, I did manage to get the temp warning light to come on because I was riding too slowly and the engine wasn’t getting enough air. You notice the bike getting more and more gutless as the temperature rises but you only need to stop for 15 minutes or so and it’s good to go again. Two strokes are pretty forgiving really, as long as there is oil in the mix 🙂

it has a separate oil tank and mixes the oil and fuel itself, fortunately ! What Yamaha used to call Autolube I believe 🤔

Don't forget their practicality in a beer emergency Jonathan !!! 😂
It's a shame they no longer make 125 two stroke scooters, I think that is the sweet spot for scooter hijinks. I once bought an Aprilia SR 125 Troy Corser Edition brand new and I regret selling it. That would do about 80 mph, which was about spot on.
I also owned a Gilera Runner 180cc two stroke scooter ! I had that thing up to 100 mph down a big hill but those little wheels did put it into a bit of a death wobble at that speed 🤗
These days a 125 is still the sweet spot but the four strokes are a fair bit heavier than the old two strokes and of course deliver their power in a different way, don't smell as good etc.
I think that, once I can no longer get my leg over, or indeed, when I am forced to stop motorcycling for mobility reasons😜, my last bike will probably be a nice new 125cc scooter.
Easy to ride, practical and still fast enough to have some fun on ! I did have a maxi scooter, a Silver Wing 400 but it's not the same thing. Just too heavy, doesn't feel like a scooter anymore. I think a 125cc modern scooter would be a welcome addition to any fleet.
Cheers Jonathan, need to get back to finishing tonight's video, well, actually I need to START editing tonight's video 🤗

I would love to have this scooter but in motorbike form. You know, with a petrol tank and proper foot pegs and preferably with a 200 or 250cc engine. I like the idea of cvt and no drive chain. It would be the ideal runaround once fitted with panniers and top box.

yes, I‘m surprised that nobody has tried that yet. A 200-300 cc scooter motor and drivetrain in a motorcycle style chassis, with some panniers, would be a really useful vehicle for all sorts of purposes. That’s a good shout, I‘d be interested in buying one.
I suppose the NC750 with DCT comes pretty close but something smaller and lighter would be nice too.

    Nice one, Garry. I did leave a comment on this video 9 months ago but for the classic's speedo but did not watch it back then. My classic is now replaced by new and very economical Sym Symphony 125. As you measure the under seat storage in bottles, my old Kymco grand dink takes 6 bottles from 2 liters Pepsi in the back area and few bags of chips. It is huge thing;

Ah, always liked the Grand Dink - an odd name but it did always seem to be a scooter with decent storage.
I had a Silver Wing 400 and that had a ton of space under the seat.
Then I was looking at 300cc + scooters for a while, to maybe trade the Honda in for something new.
It was then that I realised how rare it is for these modern maxi scooters to come with decent storage.
A lot of them had about the same as my Malaguti 50cc but a maxi scooter should always have a decent amount of on bike storage in my opinion. That's the whole point of them being bigger. More comfort, more room for stuff, more practical. Great to hear that the Grand Dink is right up there with the Silver Wing in terms of storage space. I think I WILL get a maxi scooter again at some point, preferably a new one in the 250-300cc range. So practical and so much fun. With the GIVI touring screen on it, the Silver Wing was an awesome twist and go tourer, it would take you anywhere !

@@economicalrides Garry, I was looking at the Silver Wing 400 too but it was too huge to be practical for the city. I had Yamaha Majesty 400 for some time and had decent storage. But the bike got nicked from in front my apartment block. I founded vandalized trashed in nearby small park forest next day. I will send you a pic of my storage space in the grand dink. Kymcos are very practical and economical bikes.. I was thinking about downtown 300, very nice bike..
My grand dink has the huge overhead wind screen that covers the hands too.. Heated grips and in the winter + mittens.. I am able to ride it on -5° with the heat on and 'blanket' for the legs .. BUT .. The bike has crap suspension and crap brakes but I love it anyway.

      Hi Stephan,
      Cheers Stephan,

      Hi Gary,
thanks, glad you enjoyed it 🤗
Actually I think the race suit probably slowed me down, it was like another 5 kilos or so on the bike and as we know, adding lightness is the key to optimum performance 🤪 It was fun though, I probably got some strange looks but I didn't notice because I was having too much fun. Also, having the safety gear on made me ride in an even more reckless manner, which only added to the fun 👹 I think I'll stick with the Mediterranean standard issue shorts and t-shirt in future though, getting the suit on and off is such a faff. I'll just have to ride with a bit more safety margin 👍🏻🤔
Scooters are brilliant, so much fun, so practical and so cheap to run. Your 125 sounds about right. Fast enough to have fun with and not be a mobile chicane but not so big that it ceases to be fun. I had a Silver Wing 400 which I traded in when I bought the Meteor. That was a great mode of transport but it never felt like a scooter. It was so big and heavy, it never made me grin like a lightweight scooter always does. A great bike for commuting or even touring though, I really grew to love it, just too heavy to ever really feel like a scooter.

As soon as you hit ‚Navigate‘ it wants to connect to a Tripper pod and if there isn’t one in range, you get an error message and can’t continue.
So on the scooter I would have to use Google maps in a phone holder unfortunately. I don’t ever need navigation on the scooter but as you say, in a city it could be useful 👍
Trouble is, I can’t reach any cities without using a motorway and my scooter isn’t allowed on the motorway even though it is quite clearly fast as f@ck 😂😂😂

@@economicalrides hello brother, thank you for your reply. I will keep searching for one that looks like this.
My "problem" is that all of them mirrors look like they are made for a scooter, and yes, i know, im looking for a scooter mirror that is why they are like this.
The one on your phantom looks bulky, and more like a car's rearview mirror. I want to find something similar, and if i by any chance find the right exact mirror (the one on your bike), i will be sure to notify you.😄

@@economicalrides Hello again bro! i've managed to find the exact same models as the ones on your bike. There are some selling around 40€ on ebay, from italy. Theese are the phantoms' factory rearview mirror.
I'm pretty sure you can find a pair for your bike too. Just need to search up "malaguti phantom specchietto" (specchietto i guess means rearview mirror in italian).
Also, thank you again for the help. And good luck.

Dress for the slide, not the ride Peter 😂😂😂
Although I must admit, normally I go with the teenager standard t-shirt and shorts when I take the scooter out. It’s one of its main advantages really, you don’t have to spend ten minutes getting changed before going for a ride ( although you probably should ! ).

      Hi Paddy,
yep. I still have it and it's still going strong. Best 600 EUR I ever spent this was. So reliable, cheap to run, will do 50 mph all day. Can leave it stood on the battery tender for months and when I go to ride it, it always starts on the button and needs nothing doing to it. Practical, economical and fun. Once the summer finally arrives I look forward to hooning about on it once again ! I'll probably leave the racing leathers at home though 😝

@@pk93cov Hi Paddy. Yes, the Aerox is a tuner's dream, was always the one to go for amongst the youngsters I used to work with ! No doubt I could tune the Malaguti to do 65 mph, possibly 70 mph but the thing is, the current setup is 100% reliable. Since I've had it ( 10 years ? ), I've not even ever had to take the spark plug out ! The thing just starts easily, zings along at 50 mph all day, water temps are in the middle at that speed, or on a hot 40+C summer's day maybe at 70% and it just works. When I first bought it, I did think that I would tune the backside off it and see it as a bit of a challenge. But in the end, I decided to leave it as the previous owner had left it and I must admit that I'd rather have the 100% reliability over another 10-20 mph ( at this point in my life. At 16 of course I would have seen that differently ! 😂 ).
I have a lot of love for scooters of all sizes and I'm pretty sure that when I can no longer ride motorbikes, I will at least have something like a 125cc scoot to keep me mobile and on two wheels !
Cheers Paddy, enjoy your Aerox. I'm looking forward to dusting off the Malaguti and donning my safety flip-flops, whenever summer finally arrives !

Das Teil geht ja ab wie eine Rakete. In Deutschland dürfen 50er nur noch lahme 45kmh fahren. Das ist echt schade.

    • @economicalrides
      @economicalrides  2 роки тому

      Hi Ahlon,
