Great lesson. I love the clear explanation of why you lobbed a good shot. It's the same in tennis lessons--I know I've (finally) hit a good shot if I force the pro to react instinctively rather than just feeding it back.
get the serve IN, get the return over and IN, and the serving side moves together up to the line - serving side should not run up to the kitchen line right
away . this is what I learned that helps me

Not true that there are only 3 shots. This is a pickleball misconception that everyone knows in tennis. Each of those shots has three variations: flat, slice, topspin. That's nine possibilities.
I feel like this lady is rather condescending towards her students. But it could just be that my coaching style is different.
Oh no! JoAnne is a wonderful coach. In fact, as a former club tennis professional and about the same age I find her to be insightful, direct with comments and yet collaborative and fun. Ok, she reminds me of a female version of myself. 😉
So, what IS your coaching style Joe?
I felt she was spot-on.
I think she's analytical and explains well. I don't see condescension.
I totally see how you get that but she is just being very direct. If she was being condescending she would have gotten madd when the woman student got her with that awesome outside line shot. Some people think communication without filler is doing the student a favor. As in they aren't putting themselves in the lesson, just critiques. Its not outlandish to find her style a tad cold though.
