MaxToldMeTo Lol There’s a special recurring decimal result when dividing by 7, as 1/7 = 0.142857142857 and that string recurs to infinity. 2/7 is 0.285714285714 so it’s the same sequence but shifted, so all he had to figure out was the remainder which was conveniently 1, which gave him the decimals.

@@chandana1169 calculators aren't used for big numbers, they are used for many other things too, such as trigonometry functions (e.g. cosine/sine/tangent), so if you really don't need a calculator, calculate cosine of π/23

589/7, but the digits after the comma are repeating. And they are the same, just in different order if the rest of the division is 0, 1 2 3 4 5 or 6 ^^ there is an article on wikipedia about that (search 1/7)
Yeah 1/7, 1/11 etc decimals has these patterns which could be remembered easily.. but amazing speed , must agree...

3 : if the rest is 1, add 0.333333..., if the rest is 2 add 0.6666666...
4: divide 2 times by 2
5: add a zero and divide by 2
6: divide by 2 and 3
7 : what we said
8: divide 3 times by 2
9 : • if the rest is c, add 0.ccccccccc,... for example 13/9=1+4/9=1,444444444...
• or you can use another sum trick :
123/9=12,3+1,23+0,123+...=13,666666...
