Did I buy tickets for ADCC to see you fight? Yes. Am I mad you dropped out? NO. I respect you so much as a person and understand the situation. I hope I can attend CJI as well. Let us know how to get ticket's lol. Congratulations on continuing to be the badass you've always been. ❤❤
UAE and women.....name a more iconic duo. Good on you for doing CJI. ADCC needed a challenger in the market. Imagine letting an entire culture of women haters financially sponsor your sport at its highest level. Its awful
Eh? UAE has women in the government, workforce, etc. No legally mandatory veils either. It’s the one Arab state that has most embraced modernity. Unlike, say, regressive states like Qatar or Kuwait. It’s erroneous to lump them all in one category.
I really hope your status as champ can help influence the organisations and tournaments to pull their socks up and address the issues you have discussed. Your passion for the sport and future of bjj, and all it's athletes is more than admirable. A rising tide lifts all boats! Go Ffion!! Best wishes for CJI, look forward to watching you compete. Much love from Wales 🏴
I think it was a good choice not only was it a epic event but i definitely think you have tons more supporters after it because alot of people who dont even watch the sport watched that event including myself and u were 1 of my favorites to watch, coming from someone whos never watched grappling ever im excited for the 2nd event.
I love you for taking a stand for women in the sport!!!(and overall standing up for jiujitsu comp athletes, that's amazing) We absolutely adore you and will obviously be watching. Ps. I would love to go to the Fannyfest
God bless your quest - in 2005, the ADCC initially refused to even allow women to compete, then after weeks of petitioning and finally getting them to agree with one caveat, they REFUSED to pay the cash prizes for the women. Then some shady kimono sponsor backed out 3 weeks before and thankfully #GrapplersQuest paid the cash prizes with Gilberto from Jiu Jitsu Pro Gear from our booth sales. So glad the athletes are demanding equality in pay and hopefully #ADCC steps up moving forward and #CJI is a success.
This was an awesome video that provided a lot of insight into the state of BJJ today. I’ve been wondering about this event and I really appreciate the transparency. Tremendous amount of respect for doing what you can to get what you deserve. I can’t believe CJI will be on UA-cam for free, take that Flograppling. Super excited to see this event!
You are spot on about the women's divisions and what they consider "heavy." It doesn't take much to get put in the + category as a woman, especially if you're above average height and athletic. Thank you for speaking up!
You're such a great athlete, and person! Unfortunately there still aren't that many noble and bold figures like you in jiu-jitsu, but hopefully you'll be a role model for future generations. You give me so much hope! 🙏🏻Thank you for making a stance on such important issues! 🙏🏻
100% with you on taking a stand to make the sport better for athlete and female athlete as well as wanting to do many things and making money 🤑🤑🤑 can’t wait to see how CJI turns out 👊🏼💜
Thank you Ffion for fighting for women in grappling especially regarding the money and weight divisions. Just 3 divisions is just too little and as you said 65 is not that much. I compete in 70 and cutting to 65 is really hard for me (I am quite tall and have some muscle on me)
This is awesome! Can’t wait to see you compete on Craig’s invitational. Happy for you that this opportunity came up when you didn’t feel great about adcc! Thanks for being such a great role model ❤️👊
Go get that bag 💰💰💰! You need to consider the taxes you will pay based on where you live. New York will want a large piece for sure. Austin Texas looks like to be Jiu Jitsu Mecca or getting there. You and JT open a Dojo there ! 🔥
Totally understand your position and reasoning and mostly agree. One thing to consider is that most sports (except for the most popular ones) still have minimal or no prize money for winning titles. Athletes compete for prestige which in turn can boost their ability to generate money via sponsorships, seminars, coaching etc. Best of luck at CGI ! It will be an awesome tourney to watch
Nice! Right after Joe Rogan's podcast episode with Craig Jones! They were discussing who would want to crossover but not very many names were given so hearing this is quite exciting! Best of luck!
Aint nothing wrong with getting paid your worth! As the father of a daughter I want to see the sport grow for here in the future if she decides to train with me.
I love that you are standing up for this! Truly being a leader in the sport means actively trying to change and evolve the current space where athletes are not fairly compensated. This can only help the sport grow. Thank you for being such a great representative for females in Jiujitsu ⚔️
It's a tough time for women in jiujitsu, especially when most jj fans can't even look at women let alone talk to them. But I think what Ffion is doing is a step in the right direction for female submission grappling. I personally would love to see more women on the mats and better support given to all athletes at the top level. I'm backing you, Ffion... kick ass girl.
Love the talk of agitating for a women's division in the future for CJI. It's been great seeing all these big money tournaments crop up as a fan of the sport but hate that they have always defaulted to the men over and over again.
Loooove that you addressed the womens weight issues in the sport. SO frustrating to be 155lbs and be forced to roll w/ 200lbs or BUMPED UP WITHOUT even getting asked.
I mean, you are a legend already. I think its awesome that you are doing this. And its insane that you would risk getting a knee or arm blown out for 5K.
10k after taxes is sort of a joke, in US thats like maybe 2-3 months of groceries, or maybe a month of rent, food, bills, a new phone. For 2 years event it should be 2 years salary at least.
This was a BSE (Black Swan Event) for ADCC. They were coasting - but those days might now be over. Kudos to ADCC for what they have done to date - but new games are ‘afoot’ - an example of Darwinian forces in action. The CJI (Craig Jones Invitational) is offering 1 million in prize money for each division - and 10K+ - for just signing up. Yikes. The only way for ADCC to go - in my view - is to connect with the Olympic Committee (even of only for prelim-discussions). Their only option is the play the prestige card - exemplified by the Olympic Gold Medal. Perhaps they could do it - if I were them, I’d have the talks in motion already. They would keep the prestige element in play - even if only for the short term … giving them time o re-invent. I agree, that stacking a few million dollars away, is difficult for most athletes, even the leading cadre of athletes. A year of seminars and some DVD sales isn’t going to cut it. In my own case, I had an early start and yet it took several thousand seminars to get to that point and then ‘leverage it with some solid investing and diversification (training design for military, law enforcement, etc. It’s tough! So a chance at getting some of that done in a hard weekend … is very, very enticing. It would cut two decades off, even some smart planning. It’s a no-brainer for a professional athlete, at the top of his or her game, to choose an opportunity at ‘life-changing’ money - over a $10K purse. $10K would hardly cover the cost of their food and the training camp. I don’t know how much ADCC’s new event arena costs - but that money alone, distributed to prize-money for the athletic s, would have been a better move (IMO). Interesting times ahead.
Craig talked about future shows on Joe Rogan yesterday. Some anonymous benefactor is donating the money to put the event on and has agreed to do so every year indefinitely if it goes as well as it seems like it will
The women's weight classes are insane. I coached an athlete in her second tournament. She weighed a hair over 166 and that was considered heavy weight! The first person she competed against had a clear size and strength advantage coming in at 205.
Same reason women's basketball doesn't make as much as men dude, look into the stands, it'll be empty. Men's sports have always brought in more eyes and therefore more money.
I am ALWAYS on the side of Fighters on any issue. It's criminal how poorly paid most fighters overall are paid. That goes doubly for Women's divisions. I really respect your decision to go to CJI and make it very clear that pay is a huge component of that. With that said... Your cuddle fox pillow thing is adorable and looks real comfy and I want one now.
Let’s go! ADCC is always on some bull and with all these top athletes going to CJI it’s almost like you’re all unionizing to get higher pay. Only a few more dominoes have to fall for ADCC to be fully panicked and need to up their prize for the competitors.
Admirible dedication ti the growth of womens bjj, i think those are very valid reasons. Cannot wait to learn from you in your seminar that im attending at Ashford Vale Tudo
There's not only unnecessary fluff, there's a ton of this people actively hate. The walkouts last time were torture!!! My friends and I actually muted the tournament so we didn't have to listen to the former Pride Announcer scream for an hour. And let's be honest, getting her wasn't cheap and it was the worst thing in the whole show.
THANK YOU for addressing the weight issue for women! Its INSANE what is considered heavy or super heavy weight. And no one is listening to us.
Tickets available May 31 on the UNLV’s Thomas and Mack.
A weekend of grappling and gambling in Vegas doesn’t sound so bad.
Also, it's Free on UA-cam
UAE and women.....name a more iconic duo. Good on you for doing CJI. ADCC needed a challenger in the market. Imagine letting an entire culture of women haters financially sponsor your sport at its highest level. Its awful
Have you ever been there or are you just repeating what other people are saying?
Woman haters lol, if that was the case then women wouldn't be able to compete there😂😂
Eh? UAE has women in the government, workforce, etc. No legally mandatory veils either. It’s the one Arab state that has most embraced modernity. Unlike, say, regressive states like Qatar or Kuwait. It’s erroneous to lump them all in one category.
So articulate, so clear, so well put. Proud of you.
COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS: risking injury for min $$$
I really hope your status as champ can help influence the organisations and tournaments to pull their socks up and address the issues you have discussed. Your passion for the sport and future of bjj, and all it's athletes is more than admirable. A rising tide lifts all boats! Go Ffion!! Best wishes for CJI, look forward to watching you compete. Much love from Wales 🏴
The athletes deserve to be paid commensurate with their skill level. Best grapplers in their weight class deserve $$$
thank you for standing up for athlete pay and women in grappling! very brave, can't wait to watch you win CJI
There is no women division in CJI? She will compete in super fight i think.
I think it was a good choice not only was it a epic event but i definitely think you have tons more supporters after it because alot of people who dont even watch the sport watched that event including myself and u were 1 of my favorites to watch, coming from someone whos never watched grappling ever im excited for the 2nd event.
Equal pay in jits is different it’s one of the few sports where I would want to see the women fight just as much as the men
So well articulated and insightful on things that non-competitors would never had known about. So glad you have this opportunity!!
I love you for taking a stand for women in the sport!!!(and overall standing up for jiujitsu comp athletes, that's amazing) We absolutely adore you and will obviously be watching. Ps. I would love to go to the Fannyfest
I like how this is filmed like a baking channel vlog.

Hoping Danaher and Co see how big CJI is going to be and set the beef aside and book the Helena Crevar superfight
It's not a good super fight. Helena is super young in the sport.
Helena would get tooled

You're such a great athlete, and person! Unfortunately there still aren't that many noble and bold figures like you in jiu-jitsu, but hopefully you'll be a role model for future generations. You give me so much hope! 🙏🏻Thank you for making a stance on such important issues! 🙏🏻
AGREED! Cant wait to see you compete against Helena Crevar!
I doubt any of Danaher's crew will appear on a Craig sponsored event.
Lol! Crevar is going to adcc and is writing History.
100% with you on taking a stand to make the sport better for athlete and female athlete as well as wanting to do many things and making money 🤑🤑🤑 can’t wait to see how CJI turns out 👊🏼💜
Appreciate you grinding the path forward so if my young daughters decide it is something they want there will be systems in place!
THANK YOU so much for the transparency in terms of pay
ITS SO FLUFFY 🥁
Good stuff Ffion - Enjoy CJI!
Such a pleasure to see someone as talented as her be so articulate and thoughtful.
I hope she continues to do great things in the sport .
you're amazing!! paving the way to equality for us female bjj athletes. Going against the grain 💪💪
Thank you Ffion for fighting for women in grappling especially regarding the money and weight divisions. Just 3 divisions is just too little and as you said 65 is not that much. I compete in 70 and cutting to 65 is really hard for me (I am quite tall and have some muscle on me)
Is it hard to cut just 5 kg?
This is awesome! Can’t wait to see you compete on Craig’s invitational. Happy for you that this opportunity came up when you didn’t feel great about adcc! Thanks for being such a great role model ❤️👊
“Invite me to the rebellion” 😂❤
I’m glad you took this stance for the reasons you mentioned. It’s nice to have a phenomenal athlete also be a great person!

Never apologise for wanting to be paid what you’re worth 💪
I like the paint brush microphone, classy touch right there.

Love what you do and I hope that Bjj and women Bjj keep growing ❤❤ I will love (like always) to watch your fight on CJI (not like always)
Well said. I am proud of you for standing up for women everywhere. I'm at the Oxford seminar. See you there 🙏 ❤
Ridiculously entertaining for a solo interview. Your cross dialogue with yourself is Funny AF 🔥
Well done champ, super proud of you ! ❤
When is your announcement coming? We need you in the CJI mix
fully suport what Craig's doing and it's great to see someone at your level does too, specially if it makes more sense for your career personally..
I love that you are standing up for this! Truly being a leader in the sport means actively trying to change and evolve the current space where athletes are not fairly compensated. This can only help the sport grow. Thank you for being such a great representative for females in Jiujitsu ⚔️
I would be shocked if any athlete picks adcc over cji .
Thanks for the explanation. Don’t have social media has Gabriel put any thought into CJI?
The athletes invest a lot of their time and money, it’s time for the athletes to be prioritized by the competition companies.
Thanks FF for the video! We support you 🎉
I didn't realise the women's ADCC gold prize money is HALF that of the men's (which is already pitiful). More power to you Ffion!
It's a tough time for women in jiujitsu, especially when most jj fans can't even look at women let alone talk to them.
But I think what Ffion is doing is a step in the right direction for female submission grappling. I personally would love to see more women on the mats and better support given to all athletes at the top level.

Love the talk of agitating for a women's division in the future for CJI. It's been great seeing all these big money tournaments crop up as a fan of the sport but hate that they have always defaulted to the men over and over again.

Im curious on what the sponsors (for ADCC) are thinking.
I’m on the private discord. They’re b*tching pretty hard
Very informative and inspiring, a real leader move for a great cause, thank you 🔥🔥🔥
Yaaaassss!!! 😂😂😂😂 I'm a fan. Now, I'm a bigger fan. Hope to see you someday at a seminar. That would be awesome.
they can never make me hate you ffion 💖
Come here after Craig's podcast.
Big respect to you for the cause that you chose to support!
I wish you the best on all aspects of life
you rock. i didn't realize you had your own youtube. we got your back.
Def hear you on the Airbnbs too. Need a microwave and fridge when I travel too
Good for you! 100% support!! BTW, I love your mic holder.
Great video 🙏🏼 good on you for standing up for what you believe in 🔥
This is epic, can't wait to see how it treats you and the other athletes

You should do a podcast with this format. Most solo podcasts aren’t good but this was great
Best decision!! CJI can make jiu jitsu huge. Respect for Craig jones and all athletes who want to make bbjj better.
Craig talked about future shows on Joe Rogan yesterday. Some anonymous benefactor is donating the money to put the event on and has agreed to do so every year indefinitely if it goes as well as it seems like it will
Its Zuckerberg
@@ifyouseekay1000 if it is that is pretty cool, respect
About time someone helped the nigerian prince. He finally has a place for his money
Gabi Garcia goes to CJI now too
14:34 That's the Welsh blood talking
Totally agree about the fluff. It is totally cringe! All the fireworks and screaming, is pointless and unnessasery.
I can hear you talk all day with that accent ❤
Shoutout to Gaidama for sponsoring the ADCC women’s absolute!! Thank you for being a trailblazer Ffi!
If yall haven’t been to a Ffion seminar- highly recommend. She is just as personable and funny on screen as she is off
Okay hearing the behind the scenes of ADCC is horrifying. Let’s go, Ffion! 🎉
The women's weight classes are insane. I coached an athlete in her second tournament. She weighed a hair over 166 and that was considered heavy weight! The first person she competed against had a clear size and strength advantage coming in at 205.
An icon in both sports and human morale. How did we get so lucky?
Wow...ADCC is cheap as hell. Didn't know that.
gonna be watching both but i love how nerdy and lovely ffion is while stile being such a killer :)
1M$ is primary reason anyone would choose to do CJI instead of ADCC!
Another huge name to CJI this is sick
Thank you.
I love your insight.
Come to Central Coast California and do a seminar you guys will love our beaches😂
$5k for women’s winner??? Why not $10k like the men? Insane! Go Ffion!
Same reason women's basketball doesn't make as much as men dude, look into the stands, it'll be empty. Men's sports have always brought in more eyes and therefore more money.
They’re all in the same venue for ADCC. Part of the same ticket. I understand why WNBA is paid less. But this isn’t a standalone women’s tourney.
@@lancenorris88 Hmm, but wouldn't you say that Ffion brings more eyes than many of the lesser known male competitors?
Cause nobody’s paying to watch the females, that’s the reason yet you don’t want to acknowledge it.
@@Torymorgan9 this 1000% literally no reason to split pay when it is the same venue, same event, same time.

Good decision. Maybe ADCC will make appropriate changes to keep athletes next time.
There's not only unnecessary fluff, there's a ton of this people actively hate. The walkouts last time were torture!!! My friends and I actually muted the tournament so we didn't have to listen to the former Pride Announcer scream for an hour. Solid reasoning, ADCC needs some healthy competition.
Well said. At the champ the prestige follows you.
Way to use your leverage and I can’t wait to see you kill it at CJI.
Looking forward to see Ffion lead the way next year at the Taylor Swift Invitational ! 🤝🏼💰
Amazing, thank you Ffion 🙏
That's only if athletes stay together and build it up
i am not sure about the 1,000,000. It is a good statement, but I think maybe a bit better to have 250, 150, 100
Make hay while the sun shines! This is going to be an awesome weekend for jiu jitsu!
I have a patch on my training bag and it says: ' if you want change, you have to invite chaos '
End of story.
Ffion the mic has a clip on it so you can clip it to your shirt and not have to hold a paint brush to your face.
Hey what is your progress discount code? Thanks ❤
