"As you can see they are not perfect"
*cries in needing 2 weeks for 10 minis that don´t look half as good as these*
Everyone is at a different point of their hobby journey. That's perfectly fine. Keep putting in the brush miles.
every mini will make you better teaches you something and mistakes are wonderfull for learning avoiding them
@@TheCotzi this is too true and I was absolutely terrible at painting but now I’m decent enough that people say I put their armies to shame I always pull out my first model and say “if you started better than this you will be to this point in no time” (I will never fix him he will remain terrible for ever as a monument to my progress)
@@greatlyreducedgameplay9939 Thanks i have al my models like the first time i painted them i choosed to never fix a model so i can allwqays see to where i went and from what i started and also can show beginners who disbeleave they can get better how i have progressed
I've been looking forward to seeing this one. Great job on the miniatures but also, great job saving the video dude. Great work :)
Last time I came this early I became a father.
Sorry about the corrupted memory, might have to call your local techpriest and re-sanctify the machinespirit!
Models look great! Batch painting ftw ^^
I wonder if he had a dual memory card camera
@@Lamefoureyes Not without the proper STC fragment.
Great to see you collaborate with Zorp. I know he's been the Aussie distributor for GGS, so it's cool to see you two doing other little things together.
For those that don't know Lachie at Zorpazorp is another incredible terrain builder with an extra talent for painting and general video production (batreps, community events, he does it all). Easy recommendation.
I love the guard! About to paint a few tallarn with contrast paints myself. Good timing!
10 hours is totally okay for an army of this size, you can only achieve a certain quality in a certain time.
Many do not take that into account. I paint a lot and an army this size wouldn't look much different after 10 hours. Good Job :)
what a very cool challenge and with ZorpaZorp to :O you need to do more collabs with him in the future, maybe not 24 hours challenges because then you will probably go insane XD
It was good fun haha
No no. 72 hour challenge with no sleep allowed.
Your painting is beautiful! Would you be willing to do a Midwinter-mini style tutorial with a step-by-step?
The collab we’ve all been waiting for
Yeah boyyyyyyy
I too have moved away from "hero" painting every model to doing big batches with lots of contrast basing and highlights. It might only look 80-85% as good but it take a fraction of the time so I am getting whole armies painted after years of primed only models.
Its just so satisfying when an entire unit is full painted eh?
@@Lamefoureyes Indeed. Been painting up all my zombies and skeletons from the 90s lately after putting a Mordheim war band together.
Really awesome work, Luke! You knocked these models out quick and especially! They look awesome, too! Great work!
~ Wolfbrother Methos
Looking great Luke, god this has made me want to tackle some Mordians..
Awesome Luke - I thought you achieved a really high standard on those guardsmen given the speed at which you got them finished. I have found that painting marathons are a really good way to get a project finished, particularly when I've gotten bored with an army and just want them out of the way so I can move on to something else. Loving the Man Bun, by the way!
Just wanted to give you a big amazing congrats for your speed painting the Praetorian Guard, which was worth looking for after watching your ultimate gaming table bit you guys created recently to my viewing. I have a Praetorian Guard army of about 35 figures with probably another 20 more to go. I however, worked my guard in the last 20 plus years. Your technique has inspired me to give this another attempt. For what you completed in what I saw in 12 hours I am in a big to do again. Thank you!! Oh, it was because the Praetorians were in your gaming table bit, I had to see if you had any footage about them.
I've been looking forward to this, inspires me to paint my 54 Tallarn sitting in a chest that I bought a couple of months ago, because what 29 old doesn't want to buy their childhood dream army. Cheers mate this is great!
I bought a bunch of steel legion.... I know the feels
Such awesome work, and incredibly impressive speed painting (it certainly looks better than that!). You know what you have to do now: “the Battle of Ork’s Drift.”
the more units in an army the more it shines with batchpainting its allways impressive how you can get away with no highly lvl detailing and as a complete army lokks still stunning for gameing ready
"They are not perfect" they look great to me :') Cracking vid!
Luke Aps and Zorpazorp Collab?
Yeah go'ed then.
Get those 24 hours videos in, great work lads! NOW 5,000 POINTS IN 48 HOURS. 🤣 p.s the models look amazing 😍
Hey cutie, you're next.
Lying to Lochlan about the boots was a master stroke. You are cool and calm in your vid, he was struggling to speak and looking a bit twitchy by the end oh his.
Very entertaining, awesome collaboration 👍🏻
these look great!!!! now you need to get some orks and recreate orks drift from the white dwarf when these were released. cracking work!
Love a good 24 hour challenge. I've done two recently. 1 was a 24 hour stint, the other 2x 12 hour blocks ... I MUCH prefer the full 24 hours in one go!!
Wow, amazing result for the time spent! Congratulations!
I've got three of these guys and I'm like super jealous for these Praetorians! Love these guardians :D
That one was very nice! Its nice to see two of my favorite creator challenging each other. Thank you very much and congratulation for the “easy” win lol!
Fantastic job, I can’t believe you got all those and the bases done in 24hours 😳🤪 phenomenal results 😃👍🏼
Always liked those praetorian guardsmen! Nice to see it grow & the modifications on the mark5 tank also look great. I've used m113 modern apc's as rhinos also
Luke this is an inspiration to us all to complete our guardsmen cheers
I thought the idea behind contrast paints was that it did away with the washing and bringing back up process, just a coat of contrast and maybe a highlight.
@@GeekGamingScenics Gotcha, that was a fast reply :)
@@GeekGamingScenics Oops sorry forgot to say that they look great finished, job well done :)
I really love the vid .you know you have helped so much for making my own army and starting up my own channel
Lukes Aps - Geek Gaming Scenics thank you so much!!!!!
Captain Dave found u
Great motivation for getting back into Batch painting as I have about 60 Imperial Romans to paint for Infamy! Infamy! and about 20 allied troops..Naturally the Allied troops will require the most work as they are not weqaring uniforms but are basically in civilian clothing. I've always used batch painting as I mainly do historicals but ven my fantasy stuff was pretty uniform (skaven)
Awesome job on those models my dude.
They look awesome well done 👍👍👍👍👍
Love the redcoat aesthetic, very reminiscent of the Zulu wars with a Warhammer twist!
Those modells are so rare and so expensive i would spend hours and hours painting them to make them look perfect
Nice job there Luke. Made it look easy.
I saw this pop up at lunchtime and was looking forward to watching the video on my iMac when I got home. However I had my own technical issues as my iMac won’t start and had to instead watch on my old 8 inch iPad. I have a pile of Valhallans to paint one day and could follow your method. Whiskey and painting seems a good idea.
@@GeekGamingScenics Thanks mate, I replaced it today which was long overdue so will rewatch the video.
I can recommend using tongue depressors to mount your models for batch painting. I use that for my 15mm figures and can turn out 2-3 dozen in an afternoon up to the point of putting on the final wash coat.
I loved this and it gave me a few laughs and watched zorpazorp. Youfellas were having fun!
My biggest time crunch was painting an entire original box of Adeptus Titanicus and Space Marine for a color blind customer in reverse patterns (so he could tell them apart) in about 14 hours.
All in epic scale.
12 Warlord Titans
8 buildings
16 Land Raiders
32 Rhinos
64 x 5 man bases of Space Marines
4:10am - Eyes like piss-holes in the snow...
Great work! :D
May I ask what sort of blue/purple contrast colour u used?
They look good, and better to have them 95% finished than languishing on a shelf like my Germans have been. Trying to resist the urge to have everything perfect while I paint them, like not painting that really hard to reach spot because you have to look at the model from underneath to see it :D
I've been looking forward to this video!!!
This is what happens when you get into a speed painting competition with a former army painter.
I still love those Praetorians, I miss the variety in old guard regiments
This video with Lachie gives me hope on an epic middle earth board build off
Excellent work matey!
This gives me hope that I may one day actually paint all of my blood and plunder models...
Cracking vid!
These are beautiful.
Awesome work
They look great. I have a set of 30 dwarven warriors I need to paint. I have to assemble them but 12 hours to paint and base them? I'm up for the challenge!
Fantastic results. I spend way, way too long on my painting. I could get a model to a decent standard in an hour or so and then spend 3 or 4 times more just for a 10% ish increase in quality. Got to cut that out as it kills motivation to start painting.
Just a zorpian dropping some love! Great videos from both channels!
I don’t know how I ended up here, but I like this video.
They look good tbf
I'm right now putting plans down on how to batch paint my Sisters of Battle in the Argent Shroud scheme. This means i cannot use contrast but i can do a nice metallic zenithal with my airbrush. We'll see how that goes. 60 Sisters plus characters and 9 Repentia. Just need to sit down and get crackin' .
I wanna see you and NinJon do this
The look extremely dope
Love those models good job. Give us yanks some discount love!
another fun video👌🏻where did you get those big wooden soons or how you call them? keep going 👍🏻
@@GeekGamingScenics ah cheers do you know a adress to get them cheap :p
@@GeekGamingScenics cheers will have a look
looking good thare shud do a vid on the ones i have soon will do it as you post will see
Nice video, may I ask do you try to use 3D printing to make some customized models? If yes, I think we probably can talk about cooperation, we make resin printers.
Classic, on the phone wasting time for Zorpadorp !
I wish GW would do a made to order week with original praetorian guard. How awesome would that be
Lukes Aps - Geek Gaming Scenics haha yeah it would. Are you doing tanks for these
Lukes Aps - Geek Gaming Scenics must of missed it will check it out
1:05 Game changing.
*Happy Imperial Guard noises*
what do you use for your metal miniatures after painting is finished so that the color does not flake off/the metal shows after a couple of games in use on the tabletop. (Even with a varnish my metal miniatures WILL show signs of use on a pretty regular basis even if I transport and play them carefully)
@@GeekGamingScenics I also do not throw them around hm :/ I do however just use a single coat of matt varnish. maybe that does not suffice.
man I don't know how you guys do it. after 24 mins of painting I'm done with that lol I seriously hate painting
It was a slog dude but having eahc other on the other side of the phone really helped haha
Cheers Luke ,
nice job ,
Luv~luv~luv .
Dont break yourself Luke!
What glue do you use on them sticks. When painting five in a row?
And what are them sticks?
I like the ide of this painting.
Blu Tack also works well and is much easier to remove. Though it will not hold big heavy metal minis quite as firmly.
Did you ever finish the army or are you still doing them to today?
Just curious Luke what did you use for your wash?
Lukes Aps - Geek Gaming Scenics thanks Luke
I always wanted a Praetorian Guard army. And I've learnt to not challange you to a poker game...
Ohh hey! big fan, keep it up
U absolute mentalist!!!!! lol
Luke, Am mekkin praetorian Guard and av been basically swapping eds out ont cadian troopers to make em, where'd you get these models from?
nice
Bang Up Job 👌😋💚
14:24 What is the name of the music playing?
Got a price on the A4 tuft sheet?
@@GeekGamingScenics perfect. Hit you up at geeks.
Great painting and mini showcase. Could do without all the facetime/zoom vlog skits
1st time I seen ya mate his opening line was shit!...... I like him. 🤣
Did anybody else get like, interlacing lines?
@@GeekGamingScenics *Roblox oof noise*
Is that a Sheffield accent? Or maybe Leeds?
@@GeekGamingScenics Chesterfield?
Are those resin guard?
Lukes Aps - Geek Gaming Scenics. was going mad thinking how did he get resin praetorian lads.
nice, but why are they on 32mm bases?
@@GeekGamingScenics your hobby bro, just looks odd as ive seen praetorians on 25mm's my entire life :D crack on bro.
Random thought what about 25mm squares? bigger than 25mm round and can do line inf :D
That cup of tea looks weak as hell, man
3:14 - white Monster - yet another 30yr old boomer :D
bases look too big for the figure to me...lovely painting though
Like and comment to appease the almighty algorithm
*Bro why can't GW update and bring back the Praetorian Guard? Is it because they're anti-colonialist or whatever :(*
Tiger Sympathiser empire lives matter
Realllly wish we knew all the paints used on this, especially the blue and the highlights
