I have 3 Stihl battery hedge trimmers, and initially used Stihl's hedge trimmer blade cleaner/resin remover. Long story short, it does not work; blades will still stick. I switched to Fluid Film at the recommendation of a landscaper; absolutely no more sticking. I spray the blades before and after use; it's a great product.
I heard about Fluid Film from one of our customers just last week, definitely am going to look into it. Here in California they just banned the use of the Stihl hedge trimmer spray, so we have to find something else. Thanks for the heads up!
Hi there! Would you consider doing a video of how to access / take apart the top section of the trimmers by any chance? Mine clearly have an issue with the electric component but no videos on here are show what to look for or how to do it and your videos are the best at clear demonstration!! 😁😁😁
Thanks for the comment. As far as the electrical components on the trimmer, You'll have to take it to a Stihl Dealer for repair. Some of the battery powered equipment I've worked on require testing with a multimeter, mostly continuity. Switches or control boards have gone bad on the ones I've repaired, but I did have one where the motor was faulty. The first items to check would be your battery then charger then unit, in that order. Hope you're able to get it fixed. Another problem I've had with these hedge trimmers is the blades sticking. I've had to loosen the blades, with the battery out, and physically pry them apart and lube them. Usually this gets them going again.
@@selfsufficientmercantile thanks for the personal response! I'm really impressed-thank you. I really wanted to fix them myself to be honest-I'm guessing it'll be dirt/debris related as they always work first press, then stop, also knowing usually charges for repairs are almost cost of new trimmers just seems a waste. But *thank you* for replying, - bit taken aback 😁
OK great that’s what I’ve been using ,the product that Stihl puts out ,I like it ,it’s super sticky and I believe it’s an efficient Grease 💪thank you for your time.

Great tips, i have a question please, do we use the same grease for electric and gas powered Trimmers. Thank you
Thanks for the question! You would use the same hedge trimmer gearbox grease in both gas & battery units.
