Obviously it's just some percentage of improvement and ultimately it will age and loose power over the years as with all batteries
I've been using an HS81R for many years and in my experience, it was the best pro hedgecutter money could buy! That was until I bought a Husqvarna 522HDR75X! Cuts the same, and is just as reliable as the 81R, but far more comfortable to use! If I were younger, I would probably go the battery route. That said, if I was just starting out, I would go for gas, as pro battery equipment is very expensive and run time is still poor!
8 lbs is a tad too heavy. My Last trimmer with the same Length blade weighed half of that. I do not have the strength to wield around an 8+ lb. trimmer.

I would say you will definitely find ones that will jam it us. It is pretty true to the size it advertises that it will cut.
