    You didn't say it, but the relative minor to G is E so you could also call it the E minor pentatonic. Excellent demo of Trey's approach to playing. I just saw two shows in my home state of SC and he was on fire. Prince Caspian was played night 2.

    Loved the video, but have a burning question. When you do that G shaped chord tone walk down, why does it sound so good when you land on the D note? I would have thought to land on the G (root), but for some reason it sounds more phishy when you land on the D. Been trying to figure it out since you came out with this video haha

    • @StichMethodGuitar
      @StichMethodGuitar  3 роки тому +1

      Because it’s the fifth of the chord and it is part of the chord that is both balance and has an inner tension. 5s are great to land on

  • @KevinIlsen

    If the jam portion of the song had included the V chord (in other words, in this case if it included the chords G, C, and D rather than just G and C), would a Mixolydian solo still “work”? I would think that the F natural would potentially clash with the F# of the D chord. Or would it still work, introducing a bluesy minor 3rd / major 3rd tension on the V chord?

    • @StichMethodGuitar
      @StichMethodGuitar  3 роки тому +3

      Well the video I mention early on talks about that, it is not uncommon to play Mixo until the D and then switch to either G Major or D arpeggios for the D chord. The Grateful Dead do this in Samson and Delilah

  • @coastercook

    On the Trey move you described, it's hold on the root note for about a 4 count, noodle and trill, then land on the root note an octave down and hold?

    Forgive me, but why do I think that the G major pentatonic in your video is really in E? The 12-15 on the low E and up is what I usually use to jam to songs in E. If you think you can clear that up it would be awesome

    • @StichMethodGuitar
