29:10, openings I would like to see levy play: Scotch game (with white), panov against caro-kann (white), alekhine defense (that ones my favorite opening) Edit: My favorite vegetable has to be asparagus.
I’m sure it’s a bad move, but could you explain why at 15:55 when looking for a move, why is Na4 not considered since it attacks the queen and protects the pawn under attack? If they move to attack the Knight then a3 helps seal it together and puts their queen in a weird spot to attack nothing?
Hey, Na4 is the engines 3rd best move (+3.3) for white on depth 26 with stockfish 14+. So not a bad move at all! You can defend the knight later on with c3 or move it to c5. Nxf6 was the best move in the position (+4.5 depth 26.), Ne5 was the 2nd best move (+3.7 depth 26).
if you plug this on an engine. computer will say LEVY IS IN FACT A HUMAN. he doesn't see that it is still a solid move but if you imagine what his thinking. Remember that levy ALWAYS says that you dont commit pushing your pawns because it cant go backwards and some squares in the future will be weak. This will give him a tempo and on his terms to make levy commit a pawn move. if this game had a million$ wage or a tournament, giving enemy an opportunity tempo is also a big blunder of your life If queens try to get rid of knight A4 by qb5, to defend knight with queen by pawn c3 and your knight cant move your knight is still stuck on Na4 protecting a pawn and lose tempo. if pawn b3 so the knight protected and also knight can go back to b2 or c3. And in all of this you dont forget the fact that you committed to move a pawn and some squares can be weak. BTW computer doesnt care so consider the move, anyways nobody can still beat a computer.
I think the inclusion of Na4 to move the Queen to somewhere supposedly less desirable is totally unnecessary. You essentially give Black an extra tempo although here fortunately Black can’t really make use of it. Nxf6 looked very appealing because it’s removing a defender of the king and there’s no suitable recapture that wouldn’t lead to problems for Black.
I was wondering if that was the guy Levy was talking about with the title, there's like NO COMMENTS talking about it so thank you for confirming my suspicion 🙌❤️
For game 3 I actually had the same thought process as the engine did with the G pawn. Surprised my 900 elo pea brain noticed that and levy didn’t consider it.

Levy: When did I understand I was playing a computer? Audience: ... Levy: I understood it immediately. It doesn't mean I can't play a chess game and test my tactical skills while I banter with my followers. I'm trying to make content here out of whatever my opponents throw at me, and they happen to be doing this for free while I'm making my living. If somebody's idea of leisure is to use an engine instead of playing on his own it just opens up a new topic for me to riff on. Obviously it's not fun to be on my end but I'm not going to quit as long as "cheater" videos continue to gain a lot of views and expose one of the banes of online chess playing.
I used to hate eggplant when I was little but now it's one of my favourites. Eggplant parmigiana is incredible, sichuan fish fragrant eggplant is incredible, deep fried tempura eggplant, caponata, baba ghanoush, the list goes on and on.
31:34 Isnt g5 good to prepare g4(this move covers f3 escape square for the king.) After playing g4, Levy can then proceed to play Bxg2 and play Qh3+ if opponent tries to recapture with bishop. Correct me if I'm wrong. Edited: OK NVM THIS IDEA APPEARED IN 40:07. Was wondering if it could work out earlier than that but, eh what do i know about chess anyways.
@@ethanf1398 Well, not trying to throw any dirt on Levy or anything. But tbh g5 is quite a natural move to find at some point in that position. Mainly because when you want to checkmate the white king using a battery in the h-file, the only deterrence to that plan's success is the f3 escape square. So the most natural course of action is to play g5(the point of this move was explained in my previous comment) or another aggressive break such as f5(which he ended up playing but couldnt follow it up). Cant judge him for his decision tho, I would have definitely played worse in that position.
@@ethanf1398 Qd7 was a move i was also very proud to find in the game against the 2011. well i guess thats the result of hard-training in tactics, Im happy to be a young guy!(if ya get what i mean)
32:22 i am just an 11 hundred so I am probably missing something, but what prevents Nb5 here? If you capture with your pawn the queen will take your rook. What am I missing?
i know this video is insanely old but i really hope u see this levy, at 48:23 i was wondering u push the h pawn to h4 which makes them slide the pawn up to the knight but what if u sack ur knight to open up the hfile instead?? like double up rooks or move ur queen and win no? and why wouldnt that work
I'm a total chess newbie, so could somebody give me some insight into 46:45 rq? My idea here is after pawn to g5 you would prefer to sac with the knight on f3, offering pawn takes and then bishop takes to further suffocate black's already bad bishop and lock the position even harder, the issue I'm running into internally is I can't find a logical move for black after that, but somehow I feel like it's winning for white that way because it allows for some kind of attack with the h or g pawns right? If they don't take back right away and instead try to attack the queen first with knight c6 -> d4 then you could just slide the queen out of the way or take with the pawn and still be really solid after long castles because your knight is in an annoying place and the black bishop can't do anything. maybe bring the light bishop in or even just retreat the knight and be up a pawn. Like I said, I'm a noob, but I noticed it and I just can't get my head around what black would want to do to answer that or what could be played in response, but maybe some of the chess wizards here could explain to me why sacing the knight is actually useless and I am a dumb brain 🤣
13:56 instead of Bxf7+ what happens if we play Ne5? If he takes the queen we mate him with Bxf7, if he plays Bh5 we play Qxh5 and after Nxh5 we again mate him with Bxf7, and if he plays something like e6 we just take his bishop twice and we are a piece up. Is there anything wrong with it?
31:22 wouldn't H3 to F2 force mate? after you take bishop (King to F2 which is followed by Queen to H3 which leaves the king with only F1 to go and follow that by Queen H1 mate) The other is (moving the rook right which is followed by H8 to H1 check and he is forced to take the bishop which is followed by queen H3 check which you can follow for Rook takes Rook so you get the king in a horrible spot and get 1 free Rook or get 2 and lose 1) Am I missing something cause I can't see any counter to those moves?

My sister is in cooking school, and she likes to make spinach pancakes which might sound off-putting, but they're really tasty, healthy and easy to make. What's your favorite vegetable tho, Levy?
Spinach is just so versatile
Tomatoes are fruit
@@santiagocontte622 As a food, they're vegetables. You wouldn't make fruit salad with tomatoes. Words change meaning depending on context.
@@sashaboydcom I agree but they'd still be fruit regardless of what people use to eat them with. U can classify food by their flavours and that's cool but the scientific definition is the one that should prevail
@@santiagocontte622 All fruits are vegetables, from a scientific perspective. They aren’t animals, minerals, fungi, bacteria, or algae, are they? They belong to the vegetable kingdom. Why does nobody start this argument regarding cucumbers, zucchini, or winter squash?

I went to see Patton Oswalt live in Portland this last weekend. Had a blast and the next day had "friend's giving" and had a good time there as well
My favorite series finally has new episodes! Not even watch the videos yet but already so excited to look at it:)
I get an ad to download Honey, press the link, Gotham's video continues to play in the background. As I'm installing it [19:16] Gotham says, "are you paying attention or just watching another tab?"! This man is a GOD
Thanks Levy! It seems like such a long time since we have seen this series.
My boy said Now at 48 minutes you may have learned that pawns can not move backwards GUY IS A COMEDIAN LMFAOOOOOOO im new to chess bro but i'm picking up alot just watching your videos don't understand most things till its explained but I hope to only keep getting better. Its always a plus when yu can laugh while learning.
They can not! News to me ...
what i like to do when i get this opportunity, at 13:55 instead of taking with the bishop i like to play Ne5. If he takes the queen Bxf7 is mate, the only move which doesn’t lose on the spot is Be6, and after Bxe6 you have a beautiful advantage
Your line doubles his pawns, his line wins a pawn and stops his opponent from ever castling, he is an IM and you're not
@@DarthVader-wk9sd im exactly at the guy’s he played rating and im also very used to blackmar diemer gambit. the whole point of the gambit is to give material to gain an initiative. is you like to be safe and get the pawn back play as you want. i was just giving my opinion as an experienced attacker
taking the pawn and preventing the opponent from ever castling is better, although your suggestion is still definitely good
Even though this video is a year old, it is new and very instructive to me. The 1hr and 35 min went by quickly, and yes, I am hungry also. I'm just getting back into chess after 50 years of nada. Thx Art

Love this series. One of the reasons I’m a fan…thank you for bringing it back
Thanks for playing the Vienna! You talk about it all the time, nice to see it in action. Keep up the great content!
Ps. I can see these can be hard to record at time but I love this series! Thanks, it's improved my chess so much!
Day 1 of asking Levy to bring back ELO SWAP, I loved that series
The opening of the 4th game is very instructive - delaying castling to attack at an opportune moment and force the opponent to commit in a way you can take advantage of.
Title: How to win at chess.
Thumbnail: Yes, win at chess with 40% discount!
ok
2428 vs 1537. Its not that hard to win at thess with 40% rating dicount. He complaints about cheaters but at the same does MMR abuse and smurfing
@@5poolcatrush bruh
@@5poolcatrush Artificially using a literal computer to crunch numbers for the best move is very different than just being good at chess. I'd be fine losing against someone better. I'd be pissed about losing to some kid with a robot telling him what to play.

Speaking of being pissed off of something, it is not hard to stomp 40% lower rated noobs while boosting self-esteem, but i wouldn't be happy if that happened to me
Because its a freaking abuse
29:10, openings I would like to see levy play: Scotch game (with white), panov against caro-kann (white), alekhine defense (that ones my favorite opening)
Edit: My favorite vegetable has to be asparagus.
Love the vids as always levy. If I’m ever feeling down you make me happy. You are a real legend.
YEESSS! How to win at chess is back! Definitely my favorite series. Thanks for the great content.
This will give him a tempo and on his terms to make levy commit a pawn move. if this game had a million$ wage or a tournament, giving enemy an opportunity tempo is also a big blunder of your life
If queens try to get rid of knight A4 by qb5, to defend knight with queen by pawn c3 and your knight cant move your knight is still stuck on Na4 protecting a pawn and lose tempo. if pawn b3 so the knight protected and also knight can go back to b2 or c3.
I love these long how to win at chess videos. Have learned to much from this series. Keep them coming.
"If you have two rooks and your opponent has one, you're up a rook"
Can somebody check that math for me?
27:50 agreed. Watching titled players regularly it’s easy to forget how good a casual player is when rated 1700-1900.
59:00 xXPawn-SniperXx's account was closed for fair play violation.. Only finished one game after this one. That was FAST.
I was wondering if that was the guy Levy was talking about with the title, there's like NO COMMENTS talking about it so thank you for confirming my suspicion 🙌❤️
7:03 sacrifices the rook (for the culture)
For game 3 I actually had the same thought process as the engine did with the G pawn. Surprised my 900 elo pea brain noticed that and levy didn’t consider it.
40:25 low-key proud of myself for spotting the g-pawn moves for checkmate during the game
15:43 I felt so EMPTY when I didnt hear “Rook B1, Rook B1”
8:46 " Rooks are weird, you don't feel them when your up them sometimes" 😂
These are my favorite videos. Even if you uploaded a single 10 minute game against a sub I would love that

Wow.The third game was nuts! Levy`s opponent played really good.

Even the moments that are quiet, Gotham managed to make them funny as well! I don’t know how he does it, he manages to make chess entertaining, I love it!
Pretty amazing that Levy managed to draw vs a cheater! Nicely done!
He won, didn't he?
40:17 i feel so proud seeing this move while you're playing and knowing it was actually the right move! ✨✨✨
In game 3 I was wondering why you didn't push the g pawn forward to g5, take the bishop, check with the queen, and go g4. Turns out the engine agrees with me!
Was thinking the same thing
Me too
That last game was awesome!!! It really showed how to play in closed positions.
This is the best content of the UA-cam!!! Thank you, Levy!!!
😂😂😂Vs the 2069. 1:17:00 gotham : i figured this gonna happen

Audience: So Levy, since there were questions as to why you kept playing on against this cheater I was just wondering, when did you understand you were playing a computer?
@5:40 I’m watching this a year late but it is now Sunday and I am indeed hungover 😂

I like this series. Especially when levy record it when do streaming. I love how he interact with viewers.
I used to hate eggplant when I was little but now it's one of my favourites. Eggplant parmigiana is incredible, sichuan fish fragrant eggplant is incredible, deep fried tempura eggplant, caponata, baba ghanoush, the list goes on and on.
At 58:44, Nd3 could be a perpetual check. Stockfish gives Qa7 as the best move or Nd3 followed bt Qb4 as crushing, +5.5 for Black.
you could've played Na4 threatening the Q WHEN YOUR CLOCK WAS 8:08
at 40:12, why did Qh5 need to be played? it seems like g5 can be played immediately and then you can take the light squared bishop for the same result
I saw that move watching it and was so proud of myself when I saw it was the top engine
That game 3 was very close, I also usually play english and that game of yours was very instructive for me.
32:22 i am just an 11 hundred so I am probably missing something, but what prevents Nb5 here? If you capture with your pawn the queen will take your rook. What am I missing?
The knight on e2 is hanging, so you don’t take the b5 knight
i know this video is insanely old but i really hope u see this levy, at 48:23 i was wondering u push the h pawn to h4 which makes them slide the pawn up to the knight but what if u sack ur knight to open up the hfile instead?? like double up rooks or move ur queen and win no? and why wouldnt that work
At 32:21 in Game 3 didn't Qg4 open up Nb5 again since the rook on a8 would hang on axb5?
I think he can return the Bishop to e6 and white will have -1 pawn, even tho black structure will be weird
@@mat1113963 thank you
he can play bishop back to e6 which looks ugly but we don't win a pawn back and the king can still castle. Still bad for black but not as bad
Thanks for being there man great content as always
3:41 i prob would have wanted to defend but the insight on offence was good. thx
Hi just wondering, at 30:00 after h x g, can black go g5 preparing ... Bxg2, Kxg2 Qh3+, Kf3 g5# mate? thx
1:16:50 You could have played Rxe6!
His rook can't take because of mate and if pawn takes then his queen is lost
Good eye!
Question, at 48:38 you are debating moving pawn to h4 but never consider pawn to h3. I’m new to the game and I was just wondering why.
