This is exciting and so much fun! Classical music, learned a lot of years ago as a child, you play what is written, own interpretation, but mostly as is written, this makes you think and feel. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this. It's a catchy tune. After playing keys for decades, I finally enjoy diving a bit into some of this simple jazz stuff. Excellent and enjoyable tune to use to start learning a bit about these concepts.
Another great video. Starts slowly to draw us in and is structured carefully to make sure no one (who is putting the practice in) gets left behind. The final version gives most players something to aim for. I only started learning the piano at 55 during lockdown. I knew I was never going to go back to page one of teach yourself piano book and take lessons. I had a gut feeling there had to be a more enjoyable less stressful way. People like you on youtube have given people like me the chance to make nice noices on a keyboard. I know I'll never be a full pianist as I have no intention of learning to read music etc but I can see that with your videos and lots of practice I can do a decent, swinging version of this classic......and lots of others. Thank you so much
Thank you Jonny, I learnt so much and I'm learning by ear and sight. You break it parts and its much easier to follow and I got it after much rewind and playback. Practise do helps a ton. Thank you!
Thank you for the video, Jonny. I am about as much of a beginner as one can be, my first keyboard is being delivered tomorrow. I have been looking at several channels for beginner type lessons, and yours has joined my list as a channel I will be watching much more to learn how to play.
You Sir know how to instruction in such logical and sequential steps this can help anyone, regardless go their level. Your session is truly exceptional. Of course I will checkout every tutorial you have or will make. I know it takes a lot of time and a huge Thank You to you.
Love these "simple" lessons! Total beginner here... The playing to the backing track is smooth! Great teaching! (I have a two octave "piano" so this compact playing suits my "piano" very well...) :D
these lesson are great thank you Jonny. My slight frustration, which I've noticed in a few of your vids, is that we don't build toward the final piece. in this example we learn the song with overlapping hands and then the guide tones separate the hands. Could we have learnt the left hand in the guide tone position to begin with with all 4 notes and removed them when the left hand rhythm comes in? the more obvious frustration is that this is in no way a beginner lesson. I've only been playing a year and I find it challenging pre-guide tones. I'll repeat this is still an amazing free resource and i am grateful.
Great Jonny, and love the dynamic passion too. For me as a true beginner for ever, i had to break it down further with starting first with the root only at the LH. Then root+guide tones, finally understood for the first time, thx tooooo : Jonny !
Great lesson, absolutely greaaat ! Learning for 2 years now. I finally understood and practiced the (CMaj) scale, the related chords and guide tones 3rd 7th , thx to your lesson. The only point: if you keep saying "soooo simple ", i fly to the us, teach you brand new thing (like complex maths), and say "so simple" a thousand times , haha :-) just joking, really, a big enooormous thx !
Although I get it I think a lot of people will get stuck when you play the guide tones as a fifth and not a fourth. It would’ve been really helpful to explain this and to also explain that you must practice both to get the muscle memory, otherwise it becomes really confusing. Thanks for getting me thinking about it though and practising it x
Love this💕where do i download the sheet music please, i don’t see it in the link? Also, I noticed it says beginner in the video but then, when I go to the link, it says skill level intermediate 😊
Hello Johnny,Can you indicate which device you use for the bass Line accompaniment. It sounds very jazzy. Is it a Roland box, others, an application computer ? Thanks for your vidéos and Hello. Jean-Paul, France 👍😜
I just love your lessons and I’m trying to learn some more advanced theory. Would the E7 in this chord progression, be a secondary dominant chord of the Am7?
E7 is a secondary dominant in the C Mayor but it is a natural dominant to the Am… E7 is the V to the Am I but in the tonality is the III Dominant…hope it helps
Amazing. I love your lessons. For this to be *complete* it would have been awesome to have suggestions of a scale or two for improvising over this chord progression.
It is complete. it’s how to play the song not improvise over it. How much time do you think this man has? Do you not realise how he possibly spends thousands of hours already on these videos, for FREE?!!!!! Good grief some folk not only want to be flown to the moon they want it on a stick 😂

Hi Johnny, I love your videos and I've learned a lot from your tutorials. Just want to ask if Emaj7 to G7 is fit when played together?
Hi , I can’t find the backing track download from your website . Can you tell me how to find it? Thanks!

Is the secondary dominant A7 in the first ending a "secondary dominant of a secondary dominant (D7 being the "first secondary dominant")?
