According to the manufacturer the filter must be changed every 90000 km.... so it is not a time limit... don't waste things without a real need.... Nice video btw.

Thanks. The filters are very cheap so I don't mind changing them more regularly. Sometimes depending on where people live it can have massive difference on the amount of contamination you can have in your filter. For example my neighbour changes his air filter every time he changes the oil and the filter is always clogged up with leaves and dirt as he lives in the forest. Some people who live in cities have to change them less frequently but I think 90k is a lot

      I'm assuming you mean, 9000, not 90000

Great! Thanks. It would seem that the recommended frequency of change by Audi is 60k miles 🤔

60k sounds like a lot. I always change earlier. It is the same with oil changes. The main dealer says 30k but I never run more than 5k. Different sources tell you different information. Haynes manuals say every 5k or once a year if less then 5k. Dealer says 30k then you wonder why engines and engine components fail prematurely🤯

@@TheKeenMechanic agree with all that. It's a compromise. Manufacturers extend these intervals to make the cars attractive to fleet buyers (in the UK anyway) so it looks like they will be off the road for the shortest time possible. But I guess to the detriment of the mechanicals later on in the cars life. Great garage, by the way 👍

@@phildavies1192 Very good point. It is a small garage but I have it well equipped. I am planning to build a much bigger next year as I am running out of space😊

@@phildavies1192 I am keeping the old one too😊. I used to do a lot of woodwork and have loads of tools that need new home. My current garage will be perfect for that sort of thing

I would love to see the fuel filter change.

No problem. Not a big job as long as you prime the fuel line after replacement. I have the fuel filter and I am planning to do it soon🔩🔧🤝

@@TheKeenMechanic Thank you very much for your quick reply! I’ll follow you so I don’t miss it.
Also are you able to show how to reset the service now message on the dashboard?
I have just bought a 2019 Audi A6 so ideally would like to do the brunt of the servicing myself if possible.

@@RZVPeter These are great cars and very economical too. You should be able to reset your servive message through your infotainment system: try by going into the: Car systems/servicing and checks/service intervals/reset oil change interval. This should help you get it sorted🤝

@@RZVPeter to reset the service message AND the inspection interval on the proper way you need a tool like vcds or obd11. With the money you save by doing the service yourself, you can easily buy this equipment. Good luck!

Nothing better than doing it yourself. The only way to be sure it is done and done right🤝

I watched this video prepared for 20-30 minutes being the first time.
My US spec gasoline 2016 A6 2.0L had the air intake hose going to the front of the engine. There were no additional lines on that hose. I stuffed a rag in the hose opening and held it back with a bungee cord. The top of the air filter had no MAF sensor or cable. The lock clip was easy to find and the top came off easily. I also had a lot of leaves in the air filter box. I vacuumed them out and put the new filter in, closed it up.
I think it was less than 15 minutes for my first time.
