To be fair, Subaru was the odd one out in the entirety of Hololive. She was an actual normie who got in to a job that isn't considered to be a normal job back then and is slowly getting acquainted with the culture.
To be clear, this isn't a knock against Subaru. Her being a normie that is slowly becoming an otaku is one of her most endearing traits.
I always seem to forget that subaru was a normie that broke the mold of hololive talent. If yagoo sees something special in you he'll give you a shot and subaru is the craziest example of this.
Remember that she rarely play games and even did not watch much anime prior to joining Hololive. The true irregularity in the company.

The story of Subaru joining hololive is the greatest story of them all and I love it. She got in based PURELY ON CHARISMA. She had ZERO knowledge and ZERO experience, she literally knew nobody in the industry, and she only applied because her house burned down and she needed the money. She was a normie that took a risk, without knowing how big of a risk she was taking.
A true From Zero to Hero story
the only one that is quite similar is probably Moona (IIRC she thought that hololive was fashion model agency before joining lol), but she did have exp as "idol" though (IYKYK), so it's not as totally zero as Subaru.
Unfortunately, dream story like Subaru and Moona wont ever happen again at least in Hololive, since hololive already famous enough to attract any streamer talent in the world
@@setsunaitsme91 AFAIK Kobo is an example of someone who wasn't deep into stream culture when she debuted, but nonetheless is now ID's most popular talents.
The main thing is that Hololive doesn't necessarily look for streamers, they look for *talent*. Obviously content creation experience is a big boost to your resume, but if you have talent you're confident in you still have a chance.

Jokes aside, introverts DO make friend. But mostly with other introverts. Introverts isn't really anti social. They... no. We (I'm also an introvert after all) are just find it hard to convey our thought. But once we find other introverts who have the same wave length, we can finally take out our hidden side. Just look at Aqua for example.
Like I said, I'm an introvert. But I had quite a lot of friends back then in my school days, and 90% of them were introverts. So it just like I somehow created a group and safe haven for introverts for other students (mostly were from the same year as me) to gather around. When we were together, we could laugh and have fun together just like a group of extroverts. It just if we need to interact with extroverts, we would somehow lose more than half of our talking capability lol. My most interesting story, me and my other 4 introvert close friends were actually branded as the noisiest group in our field trip bus way back then in my school days. When even extroverts in our bus fell asleep due to the long journey, my group of five keep talking and laughing non stop for hours. Even the teacher said "You guys are good and silent kids in class. How come you all have this much energy to keep talking?". And all we could do was an ackward smile lol
Is Shion considered an introvert? I thought she is mostly fine around many people. And that gaki energy must be at lease a middle ground trait between intro and extro right?
In my experience there is 4 different types of Introverts and 2nd Gen best encapsulates this. There is the Anti-Social (Shion), Socially Anxious (Aqua), Independent (Choco), and Aloof/Free-Spirited (Ayame)
Most of the time you'd get a mix of these four types, but Gen 2 is filled with quirky introverts. Subaru is technically an Ambivert (can be extroverted but likes their alone time) but to them she's an overwhelming Extrovert.

I think in general vtubers, thus hololive are filled with introverts... it's like it's designed for them. In Hololive the extroverts I can think of are only Subaru, Ollie, Kobo.... and that's it? Maybe add Kiara, Bijou, Bae, Lui, Nene, and Marine at most.
Even just based on the character designs, Subaru is an outsider visually.

My best friend irl is also a loud extrovert, and I can confirm that the loudness and intensity of that type of person can be hard to stomach at first. However it's a trait that I respect and adore so much as you can always count on them to fill quiet or awkward time! I highly suggest all my fellow introvert to befriend an extrovert, they can become such useful resources and great friends before you know it!!!

I think that mostly happens because us introverts stuggle at initiating conversations or social interactions, but we still actually want to do those things, so having someone who'd essentially do that for us seems nice.
And then we realize, with shock and horror, that social interactions in general is draining and that the struggle doesn't end with initiating the conversation. XD
Being introverted doesn't mean they never want to socialize so having an extroverted friend helps expands our circle of potential friends and acquaintances for when we want to socialize.......and for them to be there to possibly do the heavy lifting in social situations that we may find ourselves in or ones that they may drag us into

Hilarious as it is, it makes sense why Subaru would make such a difficult first impression. Being overly positive and energetic was the only thing she could do since she had no prior experience to go off of. Aqua wasn’t kidding when she said it felt like Subaru came from another world; for all intents and purposes, Subaru was literally a normal person that dove headfirst into otaku culture because she needed the money. It must’ve been awkward when two of your Gen-mates had previous experience and their own way of doing things while the other two were nervous introverts. At least she stuck around and other talents showed her the ropes, and it paved the way for one of the most inspiring Hololive success stories next to Sora and Suisei.
I've read stuff like that. And no, not the yabai stuff. Really great to see her dive in and soak in the scene. She stumbled into the rabbit hole just like us.

Shion does give off that high-class lady kind of vibes from the start which, for many, is kind of intimidating to approach. Aqua is just too shy. Ayame feels close to Shion but more of a trendy young girl kind of vibes. Chocosen has the mature teacher vibes, and Subaru the tomboy childhood friend kind of energy.
I still remember the comics with Subaru going "HUH?! where's the punch line?!" I guess she was very intense but that's the sun for you, it's always burning with passion but you get used to it... or tanned

Subaru changed a lot since her debut. I remember her coloring between the lines and trying to fit the company image. It seems like she goes with the flow more often as opposed to sticking to the script like she used to. Guess that could be said about most of the early gens. It probably changed with Coco and Haachama's influence on the rest of the girls.
