This video refreshed my interest in Kess. It didn't feel like she was spellslinger enough to be my spellslinger commander. So Niv-Mizzet has been taking that place for a long time.
hmmmm im wondering if spell mastery would stack like that ???? i agree with dark petition being cast four times, but im not sure about the spell mastery ...
Great question! Because this deck was designed for a lower meta, specifically in the case of Crypt and Vault. Landon has a much more competitive version of Kess that runs the Consultation/Thassa’s Oracle combo (among others) that almost certainly has all those. But since he wanted a lower power deck to play in his meta, he designed this deck, which is a little slower than that but can still pull off what he loves most about Grixis. Great question though, and we’re not saying to not run those mana rocks, because they will power up your deck significantly, but make sure your play group is playing on the same level to have the most fun playing the game.
Casting a bunch of instant and sorceress won't eon you the game. And waiting to assemble a 4 piece combo is way too unreliable. You're not playing kess for this.
I never thought to use Sensei's Divining Top with a Reversal Stick, thanks for pointing that out!

Thank you. This was excellent info
I was having fun with madness/discard, matches my playgroups power level
Double the spell as you discard it for cheap

What do you think about Brain Freeze or Traumatize for this deck?
He’s still thinking about it
Why no mana crypt, sol ring, grim monolith or Mana vault?
