While I have read several accounts of the Norman conquest and the whole business with William the Conqueror, this is the first time I have heard of the origins of the "Norsemen" of northern France. Very fine program!
This flounders around and misses the essential. The Normans took over the highly developed Anglo Saxon machinery of government. They (and their successors) milked it for all it was worth to pay for their wars in France.
Your thesis gives new meaning to the word concise. Given the forum, it's likely that such a brief and overbroad summation would be not only impractical, but unproductive.
@@Dybbouk I could certainly add it to my list, but I would be surprised to find that it does not at least touch upon some of the same points raised by the historians here, who did not I might add have the luxury of unlimited blank pages. But add it to my list I shall, and I thank you for the recommendation.

@@inhighspeed No clearly they hadn't read it. Honestly it's worth a go.
They milked it pretty well for about a century, and then they lost power, because they weren't too good at the whole government thing
