Joe Frazier was my hero growing up, he was an incredible competitor and a true gentleman outside the ring. A wonderful tribute to one of the greatest of all-times.
Thank you Janet...your words are very kind. I was blessed to work on this project and Steve and his crew plus the rest of those involved here made this one of my career highlights. Thanks again for your words...they mean a lot.
And I felt his kids were also disrespected, Philadelphia is like, Rocky is our champ! Unfortunately rocky is a fictional character, and the actor that played him (Sylvester Stallone) isn't even from Philadelphia, way to go Philadelphia! Still ain't getting it right!!!
Not before time. Smokin Joe is a legend, both as a man and a fighter. So glad this has finally been done to celebrate one of the greatest boxers of all time. Great job.
Joe is a LEGEND that parents and teachers need to educate children about. This dude is a symbol of black pride just as much Ali he experience the harsh injustice racial inequality busting his hump on a farm to pursing a Stella boxing career through hard work and determination doing america proud by taking it in his hands to bring back gold medal with a busted thumb to becoming champ of the world. He triumph over Ali and media bashing of not being worthy of being a champ and floored Ali and won the fight of the century. He than lost to a crushing foreman however still had heart of a champ and kept getting up. And in his final bout with Ali he went into that fight one eye blind which throughout his career that eye was partially blind and put on one of the greatest fights ever and in 13 and 14 round was fighting sightless taking blows but not going down to the amazement of the crowd and Ali corner and to this day there is still optimism on wat would of happen in that last round cos Ali was exhausted. At the end Ali quoted him one of the greatest of all time and toughest opponent. Joe outside the ring was a kind giving human helping Ali with financial aid and legally supporting his will not to fight in the war. In retirement he helped underprivileged kids teaching them how to box his gym is called the university of saving kids life
I love it.!!I love it..!!..and I Love Joe Frazier...I met him in a Detroit furniture store he had..his hands were like sludge hammers..i was Star struck..i couldn't say much..i was meeting The Smoken Joe Frazier...wow..I will never forget how nice he was to me..he knew i couldn't speak much...what a champion..I Am Love...
Thank you, Brad Nau, for a brilliant and sensitive documentary. You are an artist in your own right, and have capturedthe excitement, affection, and artistic dedication surrounding the creation of this beautiful sculpture. Philadelphia can be proud!
Everyone should thank Bill Burr for helping make this long overdue statue of this great man happen. UA-cam the "philidelphia incident bill burr" its hilarious but truthful. RIP Smokin Joe
Joe Frazier was deadly. Whenever he released it on my Mohammed Ali, i used to tremble. Am yet to see such a powerful left hook from a boxer in my life!!!! This guy could break a crocodile's jaw maaaaan!!!!
My Brother and I, Seen the fight at the San Bernardino, Ca. Orange Show, and smoking Joe, was at his best, Ali, told Joe, you can't beat me I'm god, as Joe was smoking, and Joe told Ali, god your in the wrong place tonight, then went the left hook, and down went Ali.
Me and my wife got to know him personally when we stayed in Philly he made jokes about my braids and flirt with my wife I was in my 30s humble man got pic with his son Marvin. Rip my friend
still think he could have beaten foreman if he was at his bobbing and weaving best, dont tell me Tyson didn't copy his style, ive heard him deny it ,the greatest left hook of aaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllllllll times
Unfortunately Foreman's style was made to beat Joe's style. Uppercuts were kind of Joe's weakness and with the power of Foreman. Joe had the heart of a lion and would die in the ring for he stayed down on the canvas.
This is the tribute Joe derserves

Beautiful job! Although it is shameful that the city of Philadelphia waited until after he died to pay tribute to him like this...Long overdue!
I agree

The fine details are insane. It looks like it could move on its own.

This masterpiece brings tears in my eyes.
Relentless "Smokin" Joe Frazier! My dad's favorite prize fighter, as he would say. May they both R.I.P.
Stephen Layne you truly gifted!

Wish he was around to see this. Happy for the Frazier family.

Joe was a natural south paw and that contributed to the raw power in his left hook
Oscar Del La Hoya and a man i used to spar with, Lamon Brewster ( former WBO Heavyweight Champion), they are southpaws converted to orthodox!!!!
thank u to all the ppl who made this happen
Go Joe and go Weatta, what a great statue
Joe Frazier is a man anointed by God. He is special. This statue is great. I am so glad he was honoured like this.

Il tributo che si meritava questo eroe.
America loves Joe Frazier, "Smokin' Joe!"
You win some, you lose some.
So, what... get up, get back to work.
Joe was so cool.
He did a great job wel both of them did, Joe and Stephen.
Ali used to say Joe was ugly he wasn't a bad looking bloke better looking than Ali I think.
I totally agree. Joe's personality really contributes to his overall likeability. Quiet but deadly.
big shout out thank u to everyone who made this happen especially Bernard Hopkins one day there will be a statue of u
Grate job.
Wish she could have seen it. He reminded me more of a gladiator than a boxer.
Me and my wife got to know him personally when we stayed in Philly he made jokes about my braids and flirt with my wife I was in my 30s humble man got pic with his son Marvin. Rip my friend
Wow so Natural , so alive
Joe will always be my fav. 1 of the greatest ever.
Joe was a good man. his father was just as colourful, i think Ali went a little overboard with him, Joe was looking to hurt Ali. in all 35 bouts
This statue couldnt be better :)
I think its perfect most glorious moment in his career
Awesome, smoking joe.
How did he hurt his left arm did he say?
Work related. When he worked at a farm or something like that I think.
One would think the pic or statue would be Guard up or haymaker
Naw lets go for no gaurd and no swing
It's literally the most iconic image of Frazier. This was the right pose
ohh joe was a good man,he helped mohammed ali when his not boxin because not went to Vietnam War, R.I.P Joe Fraizer
