That “Emoji Movie then Spiderverse” joke is getting old. Spider Verse is a product of Lord Miller I’m their prime. Let that explain Spiderverse’s quality.
I remember my friends tricked me into watching this movie by telling me we were going to see Spider-Man Homecoming. That was my first sign I needed to get new friends.
@@jacksykes4680 I’m trying to distance myself from them. Not because of this moment but because ever since the pandemic they’d all become very bigoted people and I really don’t like that so I’m trying to distance myself from them because I don’t wanna be friends with bigots.
Im still flabbergasted that sony animation went from this to spider verse within a little more than a year! They're honestly more respected now than disney and pixar currently
He actually had his reasons to be angry at Dear Evan Hansen, saying it was a vanity project that completely butchered a musical he liked. The Emoji Movie is... not that.
Your not alone Schaff, I also had such an empty experience with this movie (and was disappointed to not be infuriated by it). Also, lucky you didn't have to watch Sausage Party for that Sony ranking. That movie made me SO ANGRY! It's like the most stereotypical possible thing you could release (as a quote on quote adult animated movie). "Do Not Watch It"
The Emoji movie could’ve had the chance to be really subversive with its concept, but nope, it just decided to be yet generic run of the mill animated film, quite sad really.
@@finalmountain I wouldn’t blame him. At least the Emoji Movie wasn’t a babyfied version of an okay original film, and had characters that were not as stupid as almost every single one in Cars 2.
Wouldn't a "completely worthless experience that I gained absolutely nothing from" movie logically be more of a 0/10 instead of a 1/10? What would the extra point be for?
He’s said he doesn’t have the heart to give something a zero because people still put in the work to make it, and it means something to someone, no matter how shitty he finds the media in question. I’m inclined to agree
I think the reason he was more bored than angry with this movie was because he already wasted all his fury on open season 2 and 3, the smurfs duology, and especially surfs up 2
Let this movie be a tale of caution. Focus on making a good movie first and don’t rely on product placement and marketing. Also stop casting James Corden to things.
Say what you want about the Oscars and animation but the Razzies might have it worse because barely any animated movies have won or have even been nominated. You could say that animated films are so great that the razzies don’t nominate them, but there have been plenty of bad animated movies through the years. Like Norm of the North, Ralph 2, Cars 2, Strange Magic, and more. And when they did nominate a Disney movie, they picked Hunchback. But The Emoji Movie was the exception and won four awards. A big achievement that shows that not all animation is cinema, because it means that garbage is art.
You know how certain movies are hyped up to be so good that people ending up being underwhelmed by them if not hating them outright? This shows it’s also possible to be underwhelmed by movies that are hyped up to be the worst thing ever!
The fact that Sony Pictures Animation went from Emoji Movie to Spider-Verse is such an incredible upgrade.
It’s the opposite of Shrek 2/Shark Tale and Puss in Boots 2/Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken
Well The Star came out in between those movies, but let's not worry about that
The fact that these 2 movies were being worked on at the same time at the same studio is crazy

It is amazing how Schaffrillas perfectly achieved what the main character wanted to achieve in the span of one animated movie.
I love how Schaff sounds empty during this segment. It perfectly describes this movie.

This review was surprisingly uneventful.
Just like the movie.
that fact evan hansen caused him to rage and not this says something
He actually had his reasons to be angry at Dear Evan Hansen, saying it was a vanity project that completely butchered a musical he liked.
The Emoji Movie is... not that.
Fun fact: the day I saw this movie was September 11.
Do I even have to make a joke?
No, that department already belongs to Family Guy.

Still surprised that he didn't dislike it as much as Cars 2
I think he hates Cars 2 more, because of how it designates Pixar’s reputation and seemed to have sent them on a hit or miss losing streak.

Still waiting for that Artemis Fowl review.
That’s never gonna happen cause he doesn’t feel like talking about stuff he hates anymore
I would take Cars 2 over Emoji Movie

Maybe the Toads Turnpike "battle track" would be his 0/10 since it was so awful that he didn't give it an f tier, but instead a g tier
