Hey, your video was a massive help. Several hours later of careful soldering and rechecking and we did it first try. Thank you for providing such an invaluable resource. There are no other videos like yours.
I’ve done 2x v2 switches now.. I really want to buy an OLED and this is the first video I’ve watched that makes me think I would be able to install the chip.
This guide worked extremely well for us. While i wasn't able to do the soldering because i have no micro soldering experience and barely any regular soldering experience, however i had a family member that did and we were able to get it working first try!

Doing this mod on an OLED switch takes some fucking balls if you don't do this sort of work everyday. Kudos on you taking on the task. Best video I have come across. Just got my OLED switch finished. So excuse a dumb noob but what does this mod do? I'm trying to look for a Switch to just play downloaded games offline and after much searching, maybe it's my crappy English, I have not gotten conclusive answers. Does this allow you to download roms to play offline (any easier mod for that should one want to do it themselves otherwise? Fascinating watch, and the nice music made it even better, but doing this myself is WAY out of reach atm)?
I've bought a few, some come pre installed with software, others don't. I normally just connect them all up to the switch and see if it displays no sd, if not it's easy to disconnect and plug into PC.
Hello, where can I find these kinds of wires that you soldered? I managed to put a chip for my switch V1 myself and now I would like to do it for an Oled switch too. Thanks for the video.
@@fixingmoddingbuilding thks for your answer but the problem it’s not of software hekate and Emmunand work great Ofw or CFW on sysnand doesn’t work it boots on eternal black screen, so I believe it’s a installation error
Question, are you able to boot into OFW/SYSMMC? I have the same kit as yours (Picofly Clone, V3 CPU Flex, and OLED V6 Motherboard Flex) and got it working, but it is unable to boot into OFW/SYSMMC, only getting a blackscreen after the Nintendo Logo. @@fixingmoddingbuilding Thanks for the reply, so I'm guessing its a problem with my kit. Speedrunning GBAtemp points me at adding a 47Ohm Resister to the Dat0 Adaptor, I will have to wait for tomorrow to get the resistor to see if it will work.

Great video but I don't understand where does the green wire come from at 18:51 ? I see you connecting the first green wire from one point to the other but then you say shorten the green wire but I don't see where it's connected to? am I missing something?
The green wire comes from the connector that goes under the nand chip. When I first attach it its longer then needed, just need trimming when connecting.
Glorious Video, just about to do my own Oled, watched numerous videos, practiced soldering on old electronics, but I have a question. When you solder the wire to contact C, you do it on the ribbon, others have done it to the board, is there any difference? Reason for the ask is that I had to re order a ribbon, when I was tinning the contacts, Point C came right off the ribbon... tested it with a multimeter and sure enough it was now garbage. So with my new ribbon on its way, is it necessary to put that wire onto the ribbon, or can I put it to the board? If you happen to know, great! if not no worries :) Really great video, I will be having it in front of me when new kit arrives :)
Hi, thanks for the nice comment. With regards to the c point, I couldn't find much detail on this chip, the seller has no install instructions so i kind of muddled it together from reading different things. It seems to work fine so must have done something right 👍

No sorry only done one oled and won't be doing another! Maybe check no little chips have been knocked off, there used to be one on the v1 that regulated when it turned on by the connector on the motherboard.
congratulations, detailed and precise. A pleasure. Once the modification has been made, is there a video of how to install the software and how to download the games?
I have only practices on dead switches. I have the equipment and a few blue screen switches but don't have the time to do it. So technically no, I haven't done it 😁

Hello near the end of your switch v2 mod you use kefton tape I think it's called can I use ordinary cello tape to stop shorts or does it have to be kefton tape
Help, the pad connected to the 100 ohm resistor under 'D' on the flex cable near the microprocessor has come off. Can I bridge to another part of this flex? I can't see where the track connects to this pad. Best regards and thank you very much.
Idk this doesn’t look too hard. Just really small. But I just got a ts101 so this might be a great project for the ridiculously tiny tips I got for it. It seems like you need some pretty steady hands for this one.
If I had a better soldering iron at the time it might have gave me more confidence, I do have that soldering iron now and tiny tips but still not satisfied as the solder still rises up the tip and doesn't stay at the end, you might have more luck.
Hi there Great work btw I have a problem with the same picofly model It flash blue then stop Then flash yellow 1 short 1 long Can you help me with that?
Friend, I have some problems with a Nintendo Switch OLED. Could you help me Below where you take 3.3v there is a capacitor, could you help me find it, it is a small one. The clk point lost the connection. I would like to rebuild it. My switch does not turn on. Please help
After 2-3 months after i modded my switch, it stopped booting into hekate and booted into OFW, the mod chip flashes 1 long yellow flash, and 1 short yellow flash. Is there anything that can cause this? I do not have autoboot on
Great video, I do have an issue though. It turns blue then flashes short then long while yellow. The github said that the CMD isn't connected but I don't know what that meant any help would be nice thank you.
testing between the connector and the solder point is good. So I dont know about that. Something is just misaligned or im not pushing the adapter in far enough.
Looks like I did it. I needed to test using the voltage measurement setting not the beep tester. its all soldered in and .549 reading. Im a newbie at this stuff and I guess the beep tester only works above a certain voltage.
Oled and Picofly rp2040, hekate. Emu side all running ok and standard side too. Can I update the switch firmware to play game cartridges on the stock boot side online ? Or never? Or a special method?
i have done on 3 v2 switches, one of them I slipped in the wifi capacitor on the left side of the shield that you have to remove, it was a headache to solder it again, but it worked!, im training to do on OLED systems, one day I will do it!
Bought a Switch Oled last year, I don't play it at all lol (games are expensive you know). I was thinking of this as my first big (or should I say small) soldering project. I have very little experience with soldering, although I do really wanna buy the appropriate tools and give it a shot. I'm totally aware that I have a big chance of ruining my Switch, but I don't really care (despite that I'll be practicing A LOT with SMD kits prior to this)
There's not much to it so You need to check the solder joints, also check the chip has the software installed on it and your sd card has the correct files to boot.
when i power it on it is blue and after green yellow flashing 4 times no image,,what can be the problem i inspect all the solder joints manny times they look okey the pico if with software downloaded and instaled from your other video what can be the problem?

I would recommend practicing on a faulty board before an oled, also need something to zoom in with, microscope etc?
@@fixingmoddingbuilding thanks for the advice, I will try and get one. I was planning on using my phone zoom.
Friend, the resistance that is on one side of the clk, what connection does it have? Greetings
Thanks man ! with your tuturial i do the job ! , but now i have a problem , have you ever had a switch oled that before the logo put the fan 100% ?
the temperature it´s good but the fan always 100% !
No sorry only done one oled and won't be doing another! Maybe check no little chips have been knocked off, there used to be one on the v1 that regulated when it turned on by the connector on the motherboard.
Hey I have a a straight soldering tip would it be easier to use a curved one during the installation?
What you feel comfortable with, I don't mind whatever I use, some people have favourites.
Hi sir. Want to ask, is using this method the oled fast to broken ? Because other ppl said, kamikaze method is needed for oled.
I have read both work just as well, kamikaze is too risky.
congratulations, detailed and precise. A pleasure. Once the modification has been made, is there a video of how to install the software and how to download the games?

What mode should the multimeter be in for testing that D0 point? Diode mode?
sthetix video guide says 0.500v~0.900v
@@juscelino2253 Wrong. These are not volts. These are ohms. Put it in diode mode (measures resistance).
Hello, i need help to understand why he tin the chip at 10:38 is it just in to make sure it is not moving or there is other reason
The caps need connecting to the cable
and also where does the other part of the b wire connect to after you solder the 1st part on?
Hello 👋🏽, have you tried to reball a switch emmc? If so do you have a video or guide for that?
I have only practices on dead switches.
I have the equipment and a few blue screen switches but don't have the time to do it.
So technically no, I haven't done it 😁
what tools do you use? what was the chip name? Your video seems one that is possible to follow, actually.
Search AliExpress for RP2040 for the chip, if you go through a lot of my recent videos it will show you what tools I am using, bought a lot of new items recently.
Hello near the end of your switch v2 mod you use kefton tape I think it's called can I use ordinary cello tape to stop shorts or does it have to be kefton tape
Yer it's used to stop shorts, I think it might be OK but i wouldn't say for certain
Help, the pad connected to the 100 ohm resistor under 'D' on the flex cable near the microprocessor has come off. Can I bridge to another part of this flex? I can't see where the track connects to this pad. Best regards and thank you very much.
Hi, I would say there must be another point out a test point but I do not have one currently to be able to check for you
Idk this doesn’t look too hard.
On the rail screws, you only need to remove one screw
Thanks, top or middle? I know it's like that on the original versions, My first oled so still learning.
@@fixingmoddingbuilding only up!, great installation. congratulations!
Hi there Great work btw
I have a problem with the same picofly model
It flash blue then stop
Then flash yellow 1 short 1 long
Can you help me with that?
Check software installed, check all solder points
Btw it said cmd is not connected
When I use the multimeter it didn't gave me 0.5v or 0.8v @@fixingmoddingbuilding
Is it possible to dm you and send you some pics ?
Friend, I have some problems with a Nintendo Switch OLED. Could you help me Below where you take 3.3v there is a capacitor, could you help me find it, it is a small one. The clk point lost the connection. I would like to rebuild it. My switch does not turn on. Please help
After 2-3 months after i modded my switch, it stopped booting into hekate and booted into OFW, the mod chip flashes 1 long yellow flash, and 1 short yellow flash. Is there anything that can cause this? I do not have autoboot on
Would need to check your solder points first
Perfect Tutorial, thanks a lot !
Two questions, what microscope do you use? And what size wire are you using?
The wire size says within the video, can't remember of the top of my head.
Currently just using my phone zoomed in, need to buy a microscope asap.
Great video, I do have an issue though. It turns blue then flashes short then long while yellow. The github said that the CMD isn't connected but I don't know what that meant any help would be nice thank you.
Same problem CMD not connected
I’m sorry to ask but no matter how I slide the D0 chip in, I can only get a highest reading of .032V. Any tips or suggestions on what I should do?
Either it's not lined up right, it's not being pushed in and making contact or it could be faulty, heard this can happen
Thanks for the video! I'll follow along :)
My nand adapter isnt engaging. my multimeter never beeps when I test it. Do I have to use a shim? Maybe pretin the tiny connector?
I don't think tinning is a good idea.
Could be a faulty connector, might need to get another?
testing between the connector and the solder point is good.
Can update both sides on ofw on emunand can be connected to the internet so can update officially
I make same thing but the Nintendo switch OLED startup on OFW directly like no picofly … idea ? Thanks
Check the fw is installed on the chip, check solder points, check the diode readings on the part that slides under the nand.
@@fixingmoddingbuilding it’s same firmware of v2 and lite ? I read on the band 8v or 5v , that’s a lot man 👍🏻
@@fixingmoddingbuilding I good a solution : bad soldering on 3v3 now it’s good thanks
hey! is docking mode still function after install this mod chips?
Yes, everything continues to work as normal.
i have done on 3 v2 switches, one of them I slipped in the wifi capacitor on the left side of the shield that you have to remove, it was a headache to solder it again, but it worked!, im training to do on OLED systems, one day I will do it!
Did this but I power on and switch is making small buzzing noise 😔
Check your solder, if no joy reset and test without.
This may be a dumb question but I got sent this chip by mistake but I don’t have an OLED. Does this work on any other switch model?
The other models are easier to mod. They don’t need a mod chip (at least be first gen doesn’t)
where can you get the picofly chip for the oled switch?
Aliexpress, search rp2040
@@fixingmoddingbuildingIf I decide to hack the switch and install games and play online will I risk being banned? Is there a way to avoid the ban?
Bought a Switch Oled last year, I don't play it at all lol (games are expensive you know).
I was thinking of this as my first big (or should I say small) soldering project. I have very little experience with soldering, although I do really wanna buy the appropriate tools and give it a shot. I'm totally aware that I have a big chance of ruining my Switch, but I don't really care (despite that I'll be practicing A LOT with SMD kits prior to this)
Needs lots of practice!
Please where can I buy the modchip? I'm looking for a trust seller but I don't find any of them.
Aliexpress, search rp2040, I just buy from any
Mine didn't comw with the nand adapter ... Is it ok not to install it ? Or should I buy it separately
Are you sure it's for the oled?
Which chip is better to buy, like the one in the video or from hwfly, I'm from China and I have the same price, which is better and easier to connect?
This is the only oled I've installed and will be the last
Hi, my modchip holds the blue light for a few seconds and then blinks yellow twice. What did I do wrong?
Check solder joints
Como atualiza e passa o flash no chip?
Does anyone know what does that green wire is called?
you said you did 300 degrees but was that C or F? Your iron seemed hotter than 300F
C
When i touch the Dot to the ground nothing happens cau u tell me why? Ia there other Dot point to solder?
I don't know what you mean sorry
H,i do i have to use 30 AWG wire or is 28 AWG Wire fine aswell?
I think either should be fine
@@fixingmoddingbuilding Thank you for the quick answer 😁
Have we gotten a better option for the OLED or no?
Mig switch?
installed the same modchip, but its blinks Blue, Yellow,Yellow And boots to OFW, Any idea?
Probably a bad solder point, just need to go back over everything
7:24 can you explain what you are doing here? i dont really understand
@@randomcapybara1 you have to expose a trace but the grinder I used is not accurate so I missed the mark!
Better using sharp tweezers.
@@fixingmoddingbuilding thanks
Hello , I installed the mod chip, everything seems correct, but I am getting the Failed to init emmc error, what could be the reason?
There's not much to it so You need to check the solder joints, also check the chip has the software installed on it and your sd card has the correct files to boot.
when i power it on it is blue and after green yellow flashing 4 times no image,,what can be the problem i inspect all the solder joints manny times they look okey the pico if with software downloaded and instaled from your other video what can be the problem?
It has got to be a solder joint? Could be the part is not pushed down enough behind the nand?
Bro, i intalled the chip, get the blue and green leds , but my screen didnt show anything , what i need to check ?
Need to look at all your solder points are solid and make good contact.
Question. I am seeing several different mod chips in my search for an oled mod set. How do I determine which mod chip set is for my oled switch? Thanks.
They're are different variants/makes, just need to decide which one you want, people will say they all have plus or negatives
@@fixingmoddingbuilding I copy. So if it for the oled I just select the one I want to install in my switch. I have purchased three different kits including the one you install here. That will likey be the one I install. Thanks.
@@Vidal2021 yes, people say certain ones are more reliable or load quicker but to me it's just personal choice.
Nice, can you put the link of the rp2040 ?
they keep getting removed, just search ali for rp2040
You made me nervous using the bit😮
do you need the wires my kit didn't come with them
You need everything I used
Hi, I have installed the same kit, but sometimes mine doesn't detect the dat0 connection and boot straight into the ofw, have you encountered same issue?
Its not always glitching
No I've only done this one, possibly it's not pushed in far enough?
I will try to reseat it
does it matter what wire I use? If so, any recommendations?
nvm i see 30 awg
14:36 how did you set the multimeter?
